Love the tone he is getting out of that Gibson hollow body. Lee seems to smoothly transition from an old school James Brown funk single coil type tone, right into a delta blues vibe with the slide, to a smooth jazz Wes Montgomery like lead tone on a dime. It’s incredible the versatility he gets out of that Gibson hollow body. First time I ever listened to Lee and already I can tell I’m going to become a lifelong fan.
Wow Patrice Rushen almost forget how good she is id i remember her and Lee on Alponsos Johnson s solo album s inspirational great to hear again its still great
HI Lee, Thank you so much for the show at "Blue Note! New York, year 198?" We are still expecting you to visit Iceland. We met you at Blue Note NY. Me Bryndis and my mother Gerdur from ICELAND. We Love your music, you have to come and visit and find out how dangerous country we are living. You will get to know a little bit of it, though you won´t be here and have a concert at "HARPA" our Orchestra Hall !!!
Very gifted musicians.....Lee comes out of a rock genre world....but can easily break into jazz, pop, quasi-funk, but a guitar guy who excels at his interpretation, incredible finger dexterity or command, and a master of tone and using instruments to expand and enrich his sound range and challenge the listener.
@@pallhe whether or not I used the correct term, I meant what I said. You just don't know the heritage of the L5 apparently. Thank you language police.
@@orion681 Yes, I understood what you meant, but it actually took me a second. Don't take it the wrong way. I thought about whether to mention it or not, as I know it's a drag to be corrected. It's a common misuse of the word, so it's not your fault if you picked it up from someone else. But I thought I would be doing you a favor, because that use of the word can cause miscommunication and even friction. I would suggest looking up what "irony" really means in case you're unsure. Then you can be the grammar nazi. Your point about Lee, Wes and the L5 is well taken.
This presentation of Lee Ritenour is one of the best I´ve ever seen. Excellent. And his musicians. Patrice Rushen on keyboards is real good. She´s got the rythm. She´s number 1. well everybody there. !
I did hear Lee Ritenour at the Direct-Disk LP recording from Sheffield Lab for the firt time with Dave Grusin's ''Discovered Again'' from 76. Then I did buy all his LP recordings from Captains Journey etc. He also was with some JVC Direct to Disk recordings like ''Ritenour Friendship'' 78 and ''Gentle Toughts'' 77. Has both these ''rare'' and maybe hard to find recorings right now. With people like Dave Grusin, Patrice Rushen, Anthony Jackson, Harvey Mason, Ernie Watts, Steve Forman, Don Grusin, Abraham Laboriel and Steve Gadd.
