Can we add and label waypoints falling on the route on the profile graph ?

Fantastic Nyall. I use expressions all the time in so many different places. Coming across this yesterday, you have opened up even more expression opportunities for me. Awesome, thanks!

Very cool seeing a pro working over that old code! The big optimisation for the original problem may be to use more suitable format of course (indexed binary format of some sort would be good). But of course boundaries are there to be pushed. When I was working on this many years ago the use case in my mind was quick viewing of experimental results - very easy to dump CSV files out of analysis software of course. Part of the reason for rescanning on loading the project was that the file contents, and maybe even fields, could change during whatever research was being done. Thanks for sharing Nyall - sorry I didn't spot this beforehand as it would have been great to be there when it was live :-)

Thank you for the video! Do you know if it is possible to set the fixed time range automatically? I have about 200 rasters, which represent 5min time steps.
@NyallDawson
@NyallDawson Год назад
Not fully automatically, but all the required API is available for a python script to do this -- see qgis.org/pyqgis/master/core/QgsRasterLayerTemporalProperties.html

Hi Nyall, I couldnt get this problem solved by anything in your video so... I want to bring a .csv file of day and timestamped vessel positions into QGIS and then animate them using the stamps. However, something is stopping me picking the fields from the .csv to enable this. Is there some formatting issue here?
@NyallDawson
@NyallDawson Год назад
Most likely your fields are coming in as just text field type, not the required datetime type . If you use the "from expression" options you should be able to use a custom expression to convert the field values to date times!

THANK YOU! I've been searching how to display data differently for different map views. I have some contours that I want yellow when it's on top of my ortho (which is green from trees) to make it stand out, but grey when the ortho layer isn't visible (which would be on top of white, where yellow doesn't show well). I wasn't finding much so thought I'd learn more about expressions since that's what I assumed would be used. Then, at the end of your video, you showed exactly what I've been trying to do for weeks. Being new and no mapping experience beyond using maps, it was hard to know the correct terminology to search for. You're also a very good teacher. Again, thank you!

In terms of temporal use of the elevation charts - one could create several temporal layers and create several charts that are then exported and used to create an animation in GIMP or Blender.
@hanzazazel412
@hanzazazel412 Год назад
interesting so does this just render a static image then or is it really conflating it with an existing map within qgis with a proper projection etc.
@NyallDawson
@NyallDawson Год назад
It renders the map in qgis, then hands it off to img2img along with the prompt and then renders the result. Theoretically it's fully interactive, but the sloooow redraw speed makes it effectively static.

Hi. I noticed this feature today while I was verifying parcels. When I select a parcel in the attribute table, it would flash thrice on the map. I liked it coz it is better than a faint highlight that you can not easily see sometimes. But I noticed that some features were not flashing even when selected unless I manually selected the flash feature through a right-click drop-down menu in the attribute table. And now it has completely stopped flashing on any feature when selected. How do I reactivate the feature? I am using version 3.16.9

37:10 Thanks for mentioning this! I think this would be nice thing to use when you have a route and also want to know the elevation changes along this route. I did a some kind of UAV tracker including video player widget and polyline layer. Implemented a rubberband tracking point that goes simultaneously with video slider position. The live elevation profile feature is very, very cool stuff and I think it's 'engine' can also be used in various tasks! Thank you for making it!

As someone who currently has only been capable to fill bug reports, having this insight on all the bug fixing process is really interesting. It would be great if other core developers of QGIS would also publish a stream about how they do their bug fixing (even just for one fix). It's really informative and would love to see more of those!

Hey, awesome video and thanks for the awesome plugin! One quesiton: are there any plans for supporting pre-BC dates, like TimeManager's Archeology Mode? I find strange that the whole QGIS basically can't go under 100 AD. I guess that if the issue is fixed in whole QGIS, then the issue would go away in your plugin too, but I don't see that happening any time soon. Cheers.
