That straight pipe gives it a nice sound. My dad had a 856 and a JD4020. Although the 4020 was nicer to drive, when we ever needed some raw power to get the job done, the 856 always step up to the challenge.
@@hwelsh8637 No it cannot, you cannot buy one from anywhere online. The 4.108 was used in everything from boats to excavators. Gehl had this starter configuration made specifically for this machine. The ones you will find are 10 tooth ,12 tooth and rarely a 11 tooth, but all those pinion gears are too small to engage the starter ring. This machine requires a 13 tooth starter to work, it was made by delco remy originally. If yours goes out, get it rebuilt. Or you will be trying to find a starter ring which they don't make anymore.
@hwelsh8637 it must not have been a gehl 4600 with a perkins. I found the original starter from the previous owner. It is a 13 tooth starter, I had it rebuilt. You can not find a 13 tooth anywhere.
Nice, do you still have the cabover and if you do can I please have it because I love vintage trucks and this would be great to own but I don't have a lot of money I only have about 20 dollars please can I have it it's really cool and I really really really love vintage trucks
I’ve got the same question, lol, look wider than stock, are the 14” wide rims? And are the tires super all traction’s? Do you (or did you) take it pulling? How did they perform?? Thanks for your time.
