XORventures - eXpore On Road, eXplore Off Road, eXtreme Off Road adVentures. My passion has always been surfing. Over the past 14 years, exploring this great country of ours along with playtime in the dirt and on the rocks has broadened my horizons. My dog and I have journeyed through many of our 50 states. Off-roading includes California, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. We have also been to Gettysburg, the Great Lakes and traveled Hwy 50 and the entirety of Route 66. My plans are to continue our travels to reach all lower 48 states and revisit past locations. Come along with us virtually to re-live places you have been and learn of new places you may not have ever considered going. My dog was struck with SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) April 2023 at the young age of 9 and is now blind. He has adapted well and still excited with traveling in my Jeep. Thanks for watching, and enjoy!
@nickbreakseverything thanks! I'm almost afraid to watch yours, but they pull me in. I did Corral Canyon many years ago. But not those spots. That was insane for a pickup truck.
@nickbreakseverything Glad you made it out. I told everyone you have some mad driving skills. Don't tell me how you got out. I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to seeing how you did it. Love your channel name.
The Rubicon is literally our back door. My brother owns a beautiful place on Wentworth springs road and we spend lots of time up there year round. There are so many other great trails I'd love to share with you. Snow wheeling is also one of our passions during the winter, come join us! Bye the way, my original rack broke the spindle mount and fell off just like yours. I know how to prevent that now!
@Christopherjoe Just the opposite. We finished the trail and even pulled a couple others from predicaments. Me, on the other hand, I was tired and deflated.
I was there in September of 2023; it took me five washes to wash the red Utah mud off the undercarriage of my 2020 JGC Trailhawk! I’m certain there’s still some left in there! 😅 Great video, fantastic views, great experience!
Your probably know by now but the trail wasn't closed. You were supposed to go over the gate keeper. They close that gate to keep out cars that can't get over the rocks. Sick video either way. I want to try it backwards now.
@midwayj5291 yes, I'm finding that out. Now I'll have to go back up and run it again. Dishpan Springs gate was closed about a month ago when I was up there. Will go check that one again too.
I hope the treatment was successful. We couldn't get an ERG (prerequisite to appt. w/Dr. G.) in the D.C. area during covid (11/2020) so drove to Columbus, OH, got the ERG which confirmed SARDS, but Dr. Tereah Webb immediately started prednisone tablets at dose to suppress immune system. A week later we were in Iowa, and Dr. G. said vision was already starting to return. I understand that the intra-ocular injections can take 3-4 months to work, but apparently it works in some cases where the pred tablets aren't enough. Wish the cure rate was closer to 100%, but anything is better than the 0% a couple dozen ACVO vets gave to me.
Unfortunately ours was not successful. However, Cody is adapting well. He still loves riding in the Jeep and even hangs out the window when offroading. I try and get him on video doing that whenever possible. I even saw him trying to grab at brush as it went by like he used to do.
Gold Mountain is always fun. I’ve never ran it from the back trail in. By the looks of it the way you came in was a lot easier the going back out. That gate and rock garden were put in a few years ago to keep out all the rift rafts. They were making illegal bypasses to get through the trail. The rock garden at the beginning is the new gate keeper as opposed to the old first waterfall. I think it was more challenging before they cemented the rocks in. It’s really not that bad and looks harder than it is. Your rig could have done it no problem. Keep the videos coming. I’m sure I’ll bump into you one if these days on the trail.
@cj7andotherjeeps940 sounds like I turned around a little too soon and missed an obstacle. I guess that means I'm going to have to go back up there and run it again. Oh darn.
This is actually a compilation of trips over the past 12 years. You just made me realize I forgot to include the one of White Mountain during a snow storm. Crap. I'll try and get that one in a future video. I've run Gold Mountain a couple times, but no video, unfortunately. I plan doing it again this summer. Probably in my JLU. Thanks for the kind words.
I only wish I knew before I got back home that I was going to do that video. I only pulled video from beyond Mesquite when Igot to Moab. By the time I got back home, all the footage from that drive was already overwritten from the dashcam.

Not to worry definitely not a secret. Thank you its always good to see the many different type weather and what it can do to the road. This truly helps us explorers who like to do a bit research before we hit the road.
Nice Zenith 750! I have been going to those cabins for many years, including using the old telephone pole bridge and before Chicken Rock was made easy. Thanks to the lady for cleaning up Stone Cabin!
Nicely paced video. The satisfied expression on your uncle's face after the first flight of his self-built plane was priceless. I made the trip over Mengel on my way home last week. I was hoping for wildflowers in Butte Valley, but they all gathered in the north end of Panamint Valley this year.
For the record, I am quite happy with you going first! Chicken Corner is the scariest place that I have ever driven my Jeep (Twice 😱), both times with you! Hamburger Hill on the Kane Creek Trail in Moab is a very close second and hey, it just occurred to me that I went first there! This was an excellent video, by the way. I appreciated the back story, and the drone footage too. Brigg’s, and Stone Cabins are exceptionally cool places, and I am so grateful that we were able to take our Jeeps up there together, a couple of times. There is no place like it! Thank you, Richard!
I am afraid that I will have to respectfully disagree. Kane Creek is much more terrifying. Especially the line you took (yes, you did go first). I felt more secure winching up the shelf that wasn't hanging over the cliff. Thanks for the info on that drone. I went back up there to re-film Chicken (whatever it's called) and the difference in drone footage is clearly better (pun intended). I didn't talk about the haunting that I had the last time we were there. Maybe in a future video.
