Exactly my thought showed and bred for decades as in 55. . Western pleasure is worse, they are so slow and low, their noses almost dragging the ground. They don’t run around their pastures like that. Well the ones I have - and have seen of others, don’t - they run around with heads up, snorting and blowing. Beautiful horse. He is pretty hard on the mouth😅, he shouldn’t be gaping like that in stops etc. . Too much curb or too tight a chain?? I just wish the fashion would change away from the bbq low and slow just a bit. But he certainly is doing his job though I can’t say he looks happy. I’m use to horses looking through the bridle with their ears perked and flicking back and listening to you. One of mine use to do a low nicker every so often when we came in to the lineup - like he was saying “we did a good job didn’t we”, or “you’re still there aren’t you”. I always wondered what he was thinking. I would just pet him which I did anyway and most folks do to let them know they did a good job. Horses, like dogs, really want to please people. Ours would follow you all over the pasture just to see what you were up too. One would carry the tool bag around, it was so funny.

@@theterracebanquethall7124 Firstoff, I am going to be the first person to call out abuse on horses...though this mare has a natural headset in this run, her topline is pretty level maybe even a bit up and her nose is a bit forward of the vertical...she walks in with it real low, but it does not stay that way. If you want to see horses with really unnatural headsets look at Andrea Fappani, those horses are galloping with their head so low and nose behind the vertical, it is a wonder they can even see where they are going....they are bred these days to have a low natural headset, not all of them but many...though that does not excuse horses like AF has them going. Anyway, I really like that this girl is going in a hackamore, I would venture a guess she is very sensitive and that white skin around her muzzle ( and the possible sunburn she may get) just make bits too worrisome for her.

Okay so first anyone who knows reining knows that Shawn Flarida is little so that weight comment is irrelevant 2nd that horse clearly tripped over his own hoof. If weight was an issue he wouldn’t have been able to catch himself and get up he would have just laid down! Don’t make comments like these when your not educated the reining horses bred today are much stronger at 3 years of age than mostly any horse out there they are bred to be strong and capable so keep those comments to yourself especially when speaking on the god father of reining who has made and excess of 6 million doing what he does!
@myronschabe
@myronschabe 2 года назад
@@jalenroberson8991 Firstoff, as I mentioned I mean no disrespect to S. Flarida, this is freedom of speech and I feel I am making points that are worthy of consideration. Shawn Flarida's record speaks for itself so no one is debating that. In terms of the weight comment it is my opinion and I will say this, if he were a woman, there would likely be no end to comments about weight. I feel my point about a 3 year old futurity is completely valid...even if the horses are physically ready mentally, it is pushing it!!!! It is like getting college degree by the time you are 10 or 12 years old. To have a 3 yr old in a curb bit with a metal chin strap is not a wholistic way of doing it. Just because you can does not mean you should. Lots of horses are on medications and it is a very demanding sport on joints, period. Reined cow horse, for instance, has a more wholistic approach in terms of how they bring those horses along, why can't the same be the case for reining horses - bosal --> snaffle --> bridle horse?
@myronschabe
@myronschabe 2 года назад
@@krist6074 it’s a public forum, for Christ-sake intended for public discourse, so whatever to that non-point…comments would be turned off otherwise. I like the sport and love the horses and stand by my point that a more graduated approach to competition would be more reflective of noble, for lack of better term, horsemanship. Other disciplines like dressage and reined cow horse do it that way. Of course, you don’t know what goes on in every program, but if I were a horse I sure would not want to be locked in a stall for most of the day but that is another topic, altogether.

@@krist6074 the person you commented to didn't say anything begrudging the reining horse industry or wishing that it wouldn't grow. I used to be a chubby, fat girl I told I slimmed down. I have seen another obese man ride two different horses, and the horses could not properly handle his weight and struggled pitifully. Nice horse. I don't know the rider but he needs to chill. I have never seen anyone ride a horse that well trained that couldn't keep his seat. I have seen novice children do better than that. If someone threw their weight that hard on my horse to force a flying lead change like that I would kick the crap out of them and check my horse for a broken leg. I was barely 100 pounds and could make my horses change leads with a slight move of my toes. This was crazy.

@Melissa Oestreich I climbed on behind the ears of one of the neighbors halfbreed workhorse and got him to raise his head so I could wiggle down his neck when I was 4 years old. For the next 14 years I lived on a horse until I had to go to work in the real world. I did show and I won. A lot. That was a lifetime ago. I had my spine fused around 45 and that pretty well ended my riding. I stand by what I said - I would check my horse for a broken leg after an episode like that. And yes only a small signal is needed. I don't care what a guys name is, or a woman, some people simply are not that good. I have seen some impressive things from Tracy Westfall and some French guy from night of the horse. And the Boise Nez Perce tribe that rides bareback without bridles. There are some impressive trainers. A girl riding a blind horse with a rope around its neck at the withers. She could make her horse do a flying lead change without a noticable movement. She could also have it jump a low bar. You are watching the wrong trainers to be a good trainer. Names mean nothing, results mean everything.
