The guy played 100 plus ODIs without being a great contributor, partly because he was a Mumbai player and partly because from 1990 to 1996 there wasnt much competition in pos 3-6 in Indian ODI team......He was badly exposed by short ball......Wasim Jaffer, Agarwal simply did not capitalize and better players came through.......These are not even close to what constitutes the list of unlucky players, please dig deep and do research.............Also 2023 WC was less disappointing than 2003 WC because people have too much entertainment these days, Netlflix and youtube, we no longer have the emotional investment as much we had in 2003, beyond that 2023 is anyday more disappointing we had like a 90 percent probability as compared to 10-20 in 2003

Another fun fact: one of my colleagues (who is now a very good friend of mine) used to attend Ranji and other domestic matches quite a lot. She mentioned that she met 2 current Indian team players during their U19 days (I may be wrong about the timeline but some time around that) who were crass beyond help which is why she maintained distance with them. One of them is a wicketkeeper for his IPL team and a fringe player for the Indian team and the other captains one of the IPL teams. Guess who

Controversial opinion but If today's batsmen's efforts are discounted since batting conditions are easier, then previous generation's bowlers' effort should be discounted similarly. The present generation bowlers are better.
