There was no vocal group quite like the 5th Dimension. I have all their wonderful albums, and even most of the singles, and am so proud to have this great collection of music! So nice to see Billy and Marilyn after all these years......and those shiny-bright gold albums on their wall! They certainly earned it w/the incredible songs they put out. Bless them all, the truly amazing and always loved, 5th Dimension! "Let the 🌞 in!"
When I hear One Last Bell To Answer I remember listening to it by the Christmas tree that year. If she was singing that song to me I would come back to her. No, I would never have left her.
I remember hearing or reading a story that Glen had made a solo album or two for Capitol, and they hadn’t done much. Then the suits we’re having a meeting to decide who they were going to drop from the roster, and when they got to Glen, they were on the fence as to keep him or let him go, and one of the guys at the table just said, “look, Glen’s got talent.” They kept him, and the next record took off. He was a natural, and pretty much had it all. RIP
Eve of destruction puts the finger spot on on what we who grew up during vietnam war and following terrorism during the 70's and early 80's was feeling. Thank you Barry.
I’m in my 46th year playing and singing around Seattle in clubs. I had a job too but I still rock and I’m as good as ever at 70! Stay limber, keep movin and keep rockin !
Jack Nitzsche's influence on music appeared to me most directly through his work with Neil Young. The song, "Expecting to Fly" comes to mind, with the remarkable synthesis of orchestration and psychedelic Rock that shines forth in that and other songs of the '70's.
Just a comment on Glen opening for the Doors. You might think he was out of his league. The truth is, at the time, he was already an established, virtuoso professional. And Robbie Kreiger was a lucky newbie who had only been playing guitar for 6 months when they first formed.
Valeri had to be one of the biggest pieces of cr@p songs ever, but the guitar riff gets into your head like a worm, and you have to go to your guitar and play it.
