This video doesn't explain at the best way 90s wars. It is Serbian leadership lead by Slobodan Milošević that is responsible for the begining of all wars in the first place with the primary objective of establishing of so-called Greater Serbia at the expense of other Ex-Yugoslavian republic's, cheafly Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Serbian political, intellectual and even religious elites made up ideological grounds/ preparations for this bloody Serbian far right nationalist aggressive aspirations back in 1986. with the publication of controversial so called SANU (Sebian academy of science and arts) memorandum with extreme nationalist program agains all other nations in former Yugoslavia with insane and unfunded claims that Serbs are not treated equally as others, that they're "endangered", discriminated from the rest of peoples and other propaganda intended to galvanise Serbian far right extremism throughout all Ex-Yugoslavia in order to serve Serbian leadership's plans of establishing Greater Serbia, old nationalist program from 1844. and Serbian author Ilija Garašanin. Don't get me wrong, Yugoslavia would have been collapsed even without that wars but this dissolution would be peaceful like it was between Czechs and Slovaks of the Ex- Czechoslovakia had it not been Serbia and their aggressive nationalist aspirations and leadership lead by Milošević. At the start of nineties Serbia first spreaded nationalist propaganda among the local Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and then planned, organised and instigated paramilitary rebellions of Serbs in those republics against legal governments. They gave to these rebbels huge loads of weapons including tanks, thousands of pieces of artillery, and so on... After that or about that time Serbia in some areas even started open full scale military campaign against first Croatia (see War of Croatian independence and Vukovar) in 1991. and then again against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992. As a result over 15.000 Croatian citizens were killed in Croatia and 1/3 of country was occupied by the rebbel Serbs backed by Serbia with widespread destruction of numerous cities and villages and temporarily expelled over 350.000 Croats. This all ended in 1995. when Croatia started two successful military campaigns and liberated largest parts of it's own internationally recognised territory which lead by the fleeing of about 190.000 local Serbs in Bosnia and Serbia which had been ordered by the rebbel's parastate officials. Eastern Croatia has been reintegrated under Croatian rule peacefully several years later. War in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been even much worse with much more casualties, over 8000 killed Bosniaks by the Serb forces which has been caracterised as the genocide from the international community and still present huge ethnic divisions and hatred. In that war Bosnian Croats and Bosniaks fought for the most part agains Serb forces but also had one but bloody episode against eachothers which resulted in horrible war crimes agains civilians and captured prisoners of war.

Emperor Caligula organized a military campaign in Britain. But before crossing the channel the Britons surrendered. Then Caligula, before returning, placed the war machines and simulated a battle against the sea, at least to say that he had fought a battle. He was a strange emperor, his government alternated between good reforms and crazy decisions. Especially after a serious illness he was obsessed with losing power and made absurd decisions.
Happy Birthday to Baby Victor my sweetheart with love and best wishes on your very first birthday 🎂 😘 ❤ Good job Mom&Dad for throwing such a creative party 👪
24:33 reminds me of Rome and Athens or was it Greece? Also I like how I'm out here talking about how communism and religions spread, but Ignored republics Lol 🤣👌 and then democracies.
If Oversimplified were to win the hearts of the more dedicated viewers, he should’ve done a bit more with simplifying relations, rivalries, and values shared between competitive warlords, their valorous heroic officers and advisers, and the deeds and events made true in this tumultuous historical period of China, transitioning from ancient kingdoms to feudal and foreign empires, with a legacy of folk tales and memorable events bestowed upon future peoples that survived an even terrifying age
But I think it's a good thing that OverSimplified gives an overall summarize of history in an interesting and fun way and if people are really interested in that piece of history after watching the videos, they can do more research on their own.
Your English is great thanks for the vid. Chinese history is brutally under studied in the U.S.A partly I think because there are so few sources translated to English.
Ancient history were brutal everywhere around the world I think, mostly because people back then hadn`t develop modern day moral values yet I think, and there were probably much harsher livin` environments too compared to present times
@Will Muny depends on the internal conflict, Rome is probably a bad example given how detailed the build up to Sulla and Caesar are. I concede your point though. I see what you're getting at.
3Kingdoms themed games had been around for a loooooh time and there are probably hundreds of them around already from stratehy to beat`em up, even puzzle ones lol
8:46 I watched this Oversimplified video when it first came out, this is the first time I'm seeing it again since I started learning Mandarin about a year ago, and I've just now noticed 狗 and 猫 on the wall 😂 🐶🐱
Historians for an individual side wasn't about telling the truth. It was about making their side, the victors, seem better overcoming astronomical odds while making the other side seem evil and weak. In other words, ancient 'historians' were actually propaganda writers.
Yeah, in England you didn't have to assassinate the next in line. They had a law if you were blind, you couldn't be king. So they blinded you. This was used a LOT after the Catholic/Protestant split to keep Catholics from ever being able to inherit the throne, you just went and gouged out their eyes.
A "talent" wasn't a particular coin. A talent was an accounting measurement weight in coins _and_ specific luxurious valuables. Think of how, nowadays, gold/silver/platinum purity is measured in "karats". By comparison, "talents" were measured in weight. With coins, the [ancient] world in Europe had two ways of payment: with value in coins (which was the dominant, common way of exchange) _and_ in weights of coins (eg. "I'm going to pay the hero his weight in gold") reserved for exceptional type of payments. So, for Romans, a talent was in the form of valuables that were luxurious during those times _or_ silver coins in this example. A talent was considered the equivalent of what a human could carry on his back and it was estimated that a talent was around 70 pounds (or 30-32 kilograms). That's right, you can imagine that a "talent of silver" was a canvas sack filled with silver coins (or valuables made in silver) weighting exactly 70 pouns or 30-32 kilograms. So if I'm not mistaken, in total, Carthage had to pay Rome circa 224000 pounds or 101605-101607 kilograms of silver.
The thing is during Punic war.. Italy had a population of 7 million and Rome could recruit up to 1 million men for war.. When the war started Rome already had 250,000 active troops followed by 500,000 reserves and 200,000 potential recruits ..so when Rome lost 200,000 at sea they still had 50,000 active troops and 700,000 reserves so they had no reason to surrender Rome was like the ancient China of Europe.. Both with huge and sustainable population and mass recruit for war
The thing is in the battle of Agrigentum there were 100,000 Romans vs 30,000 Carthaginians.. So yes Rome lost more men but they also had bigger army.. So they won After the battle the survivors were 23,000 carthagians vs 70,000 Romans.. So they won
your numbers are off. The Romans were 50,000 and the Carthaginians 40,000. The losses were 30,000 Romans and 7,000 Carthaginians (as the video says). The battle was very fierce and the Carthaginian reserve troops when the Romans broke through their lines fled instead of affrotarli, in the night the Carthaginian troops abandoned the city of Agrigento and the Romans saw the empty city instead of chasing the Carthaginians occupied the city.
@@raidang Because the google you searched doesn't divide things into Siege of Agrigento(6 months) and Battle of Agrigento. Wikypedia “The Greek historian Polybius says that for two months, the two enemies were stationed close together outside the city without any direct conflict. Hannibal, still in the city, was sending a constant flow of messages and fire-signals stressing the city’s food shortages and desertion of the enemy which caused Hanno to fight. The Romans, who were also close to starvation, accepted the fight. After a long struggle, the Romans killed most of the Carthaginians; the Carthaginians lost 3,000 infantry and 200 cavalry killed, as well as 4,000 prisoners and eight elephants killed and 33 disabled.Throughout the whole siege, the Romans lost 30,000 infantry and 540 cavalry or more plausibly, one-third of their 40,000-50,000 troops. The high Roman losses and the escape of the Carthaginian army meant that no triumph was awarded for either consul”. The Syracusans only provided logistical support and did not participate in the battle. In the real battle Roman casualties were very low, the 6 months of siege resulted in many casualties.
The Roman emperor in question was Caligula, often known as the “mad emperor.” Whether it was a legitimate declaration or as some believe an enraged outburst of sarcasm I’ll let you be the judge. The Achaemenid Persian king Xerxes I did a similar thing during the Greco-Persian Wars by lashing at the sea after a massive pontoon bridge he built for the invasion was destroyed by a storm.
I'm glad you liked this! FF6 is my favorite game too so I was really excited to be able to do voices for this cartoon. I was Terra, Gau, Rachel, and Gogo! Idk how I didn't see this video until almost a year later. I look up reactions to the Nutshells every now and then.
@@BJGvideos I haven't yet, no. I wanted to watch + react to FF games that I've played and completed first, and that's only up to FF1-6, and some other non-main games like Tactics advance, Crystal Chronicle and Chocobo tales.
Yes same Sicily. Biggest island in Mediterranean, been Phoenecian, Carthaginian, Roman, Arab, Barbary and Italian at different points in history. Unique dialect of Italian always considered a "poorer" and less regulated part of the country, Sicily dealt with organized crime a LOT. A lot of Sicilians also migrated to America and most Italian American crime families are Sicilian in origin, related to Sicilian crime families or from the South of Italy (basically below Naples).
