I used to drive to Northern California from Southern California quite often in 2006. I loved doing the drive at night and I had a series of ASOT episodes lined up for the drive. I always started this episode as I was heading up the Tejon Pass into the mountains. The timing was so perfect with this episode. The mellow intro, talking about snow. Then about an hour in 54:04 DJ Vestiga feat Jomar - Nightoperator would hit right around the time you hit the long straight up the state and it just set the tone and the mood for this middle of the night journey across a vast distance, alone, with the stars in the sky. This episode and that feeling are pure trance for me. It’s like this internal connection to everything all around you, and you’re just there flying through it all. This is my all time favorite ASOT episode. I’ll never forget it.
Thank you for sharing your memories. It's interesting to look up these older episodes on RU-vid now and read the comments sections, and see what has resonated with people. This has always been one of my favorite ASoT episodes.
I thought the 2004 Yearmix (182) was my favorite, but then rediscovered this one and now I'm thinking it might be this one... legendary shit honestly. Now that I think about it, A Promise probably had a pretty big impact on the music I was producing back in the mid-2000s. As did Castamara
God damn...and all those feelings of younger days running through the falling snow come back with this music. I blinked and 10 years went by, but with this it's like it was only yesterday.

This whole set should be released like the very best of trance. This year until 07 reached the top and then we'll like we all know now, music for retarded generations. I also will travel for nights with this music. Jump the next train is the choon of this set, so under estimated haha. All the tracks from this set are classic pure melodic epic uplifting progressive trance. I miss this era.
true -- I 2012 seemed to be the end of asot -- but I dunno for sure I don't listen anymore -- but what I've heard generally speaking since 2012 has been pretty disappointing -- what are the best tracks since then?
Higgs Boson Yeh, it's just been many of the big names either moving out of the trance scene, or trying to twist it into something completely different. Since 2012? In my opinion, most from the FSOE label have started bringing the trance vibe back. So artists like Aly & Fila, Dan Stone, etc. Daniel Kandi and Ferry Tayle are good too :)
