This is a good guest who speaks clearly, please have him on again. I can’t even listen to some guests as they just seem to talk endlessly at rapid speed.
Hey sister, thank you so much for making a video on men's side of the story just as women. We men also have a lot of issues and struggles in life. You are such a nice lady because you show both male and female sides of the story. I wish you success. China is the Best country in the world. And Chinese people are the smartest and the most innocent people in the world. May God Bless You sister.❤

i wud say symbols of statuses will keep on increasing, yesterday if a person having under 1000usd was poor, perhaps tomorrow this will change to 2000usd since tomorrow an iphone, and an iwatch is a must have as opposed to only iphone. So reducing symbols of statuses (iphone, mercedes etc) and creating new social media discourse about these symbols of status like (why make like difficult for everyone by flaunting symbols of statuses on social media, lets all agree to not show off much on social media, otherwise everyone will do same to feel not left out and seen as poor lowly pauper.)

Some of this is accurate and some isn’t. I’ve never seen anyone wash shoes and clothes together. This isn’t widely done, Safety in cities like Chicago is definitely a concern. Tap water in certain areas isn’t drinkable and some is.
I undersrood majority of what he said. I think most good Chinese couples have a household in such a way that man listens to everything the woman says and he gives her his whole paycheck.
Amazing podcast as always Eileen, it's always nice to study Chinese while learning about Chinese culture, and this topic is especially interesting since it's relevant to so many of us ! Also Yihao is a great guest, feel free to bring him more often :) P.S. : 14:18 我的天啊,沒想到有那麼多要送女朋友禮物的節日🫨,連有秋天第一杯奶茶🤣🤣。幸虧我的女友不是那麼物質的,要不我受不了哈哈
These so called "men" that are doing these things to woman are not men at all but cowardly pathetic worms. I in no way would put up with watching that if I saw it happening it would be stopped. Men should never hit a woman period. If they are attacking you than you should defend yourself but other than that its beyond weak. 我很喜歡你們的影片啊! 謝謝
China is still overall a traditional country following distinct traditonal roles for men and women, husband and wife. Ideally you are married for a lifetime. This means a lifetime obligation of the wife to have children, raise the children, maybe help with grandchildren, perhaps raise money for her own son for a bride price, take care of the house, cook, clean etc and take care of the husband's parents and the husband himself into old age. At the high end, this breaks down to about 280 dollars per month over 60 years. The husband is also pre-providing a stable home and transportation for his wife and children. Since marriage has long been an economic transaction in China (as with all other places) rather than spirit and love, the women have to choose between the economic option of marriage versus staying single with her own job and career. It seems more women are choosing the latter with less familial responsibility and more freedom. Perhaps this is why the demands are so high, they are weighing all the material goods they could get for themselves versus what their potential husband could get them. So it needs to be high enough to prove their worth in this life. Thus the results are compounding problems on both sides leading to lack of soul, happiness and peace in modern Chinese culture of marriage. Yet we are still a speicies of companionship and end up quite lonely either way. I wonder if a divorce happens, does the bride price have to be paid back?
The pressure on men in China to purchase a house, car, and provide a dowry in order to gain acceptance from a woman's family creates a significant social and financial burden. This expectation has led to a system where young couples are often unable to afford homes on their own, especially given that many earn less than 10,000 yuan a month, far below the necessary income to buy property in today’s inflated market. As a result, wealthier families are stepping in to buy homes for their children, perpetuating class divides and making it nearly impossible for poorer individuals to marry. This cycle of dependency on family wealth not only hinders social mobility but also drives housing prices even higher, further widening the gap between the rich and poor. Ultimately, this tradition exacerbates inequality and limits personal freedom in marriage choices, making it difficult for many to achieve a stable, independent life.
One respondent used the word spiritual, but what's obvious is these people have no spiritual framework for thinking about this question. Buddhism for example would consider cheating as wrong or unskillful because it leads to suffering. Chinese seem to believe material wealth is enough for happiness in this life. In that sense, these people come across as naive in that sense. You can have cars and bridges and go to the best schools and still be unhappy. China apparently failing in maintaining a society where people can be happy.
to all the people here in the comment section, I hope you always love yourself, all of us are unique and that’s the beauty. The beauty standard just want people to look same and it’s crazy how this affects a lot of people.
Why is Chinese so obsessed with Americans? Women in China want their skins white, then thee content creators always makes videos with these titles about Americans. I think Chinese is a great country, and I consider China better than US. But when I see these videos I feel like you guys are in need of acceptance from American people. Lol. The government try their best to create a great country for their people so they will be all over the internet looking for acceptance and recognition of Americans. It's almost like that Japanese meme. "Notice me senpai". The world is huge, but that's all these Chinese videos worry about. Hopefully this video helped the American people come here to say how they changed their mind about you. You are all great, so you all can rest your head in a pillow at night in peace. And hopefully China can develop something to make their population skins whiter, and their eyes bigger, so they can look more like Americans.
Its interesting that china is having a feminist reckoning with the unequal treatment of women (for example, employers inquire into your marriage status and will deny or fire you if they think you might have children) but the dowry is still commonplace. The dowry was eventually abandoned in the west because it was seen as a transaction for property.
