Season 27 of Austin City Limits features Nanci Griffith and Mary Chapin Carpenter, and it's a special one. I love that the two of them perform together on this show, and the two of them are such an iconic duo that I wish they performed together more often. Nanci and Mary Chapin are both legendary artists, and their performances on this show are fantastic. If you love these two, then you'll love this performance.👍
*This IS click-bait. Unfortunately Nanci Griffith's name should be removed from the title, as this video is all Mary Chapin Carpenter, and does not have a full minute of Nanci's performance!*
ASL with these two and their bands gracing the stage surrounded by such avid listeners was one for the books. "New songs from one of the best, Mary Chapin Carpenter" -- one quote that can not EVER grow old. The proof is actually in this week's Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest's in recognizing the work of Mary Chapin's "Come On Come On" Album! Nearly 35 years later, certainly 'enjoying the view' we hope she is after just coming off her first post pandemic tour -- The MCC Summer Tour 2022 swept us all away! With much gratitude from the "Middle Ground"!! 💜💯✨🌝🌌😊
Mary allways. In my preasance bee yourself we both lose ourselves for each other psalm 139 David feathers allways one friend why shouldn't we? Children gloryveiws
Dear Nanci Griffith expresses her truth hear, a little older than Mary Chapin Carpenter but two who state their truth: they both were "fearless" have "No Fear"!!!!
Wow, loved this 20 yr-old footage from the new album released (time*sex*love*). Thanks for posting. Wonderful to see the band with MCC and versions of the songs now timeless. Imagine then the wisdom Chapin already had within as she interviewed at the end. Speed forward to 2021 and Mary Chapin speaks similar words, denoting such experiences in interviews and within the amazing lyrics off "The Dirt and Stars" 16th album. As I said, "wow"!! 🇨🇦 🍁
Yes! The "Dirt and the Stars" --another timeless album with such beautifully stunning poignant lyrics. So many of her songs make me stop in my tracks. Just wow.
The world has lost a most beautifull soul. I wish her peace on her new journey. Maybe her and John Prine are on tour? All the people in my life are now leaving. I don't understand.
We must remember that we are born into this 🌎 to live and then die one day. It is how we live that truly matters. Doing as much good as we can, knowing "It's A Hard Life". When we leave this physical 🌎 hopefully we leave a warm memory in a life or two we have touched over our years whilst here upon the earth. That is my belief in the meaning of life after seeing do much loss in my own and around the world. Do take care Randy East. Best to you. 🇨🇦 🍁
Following Obama’s election, people (many people) lynched life size dolls with Obama’a likeness from their trees. 3 of those televised examples were in front of churches. “It’s a hard life wherever you go” will never outgrow its relevance. Ever. If anything, Trump found a way to give people permission to be overtly racist for the first time in 60 years. Before him, everyone at least pretended. I know why Nanci had that hope during this interview. I think a lot of us had the same hope. It was literally a lifetime ago. Her work will never be finished.
@@ZachKopkaZake .she is from Austin Tx...l live there...saw most of her concerts in Austin...met her back in the eighties..I touched her hand and she touched my heart...saw her live....AUSTIN CITY LIMITS.....SAW HER AT THE PARAMOUNT THEATRE...SAW HER VALENTINE CONCERT AT THE CACTUS...UT AUSTIN. WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SEEN HER MORE OUT OF STATE....NO MONEY NO HONEY.
The blocking may have happened due to cancel culture blocking people like Tavis Smiley or Charlie Rose, great interviewers, who were caught up the frenzy over #metoo; some admins ignorant of the body of work, regardless of personal failings that come to light; and unwilling to see nuance or archival worth seeing work, would make the same mistake.
Are you talking bout my bylibe? No! Some dude was mean on a nanci Facebook group. Didn't want me in it for some reason. I talked to Brian wood etc. I was sad
For sure she might be rethinking the logic of some of her earlier positions. Affairs outside of marriage are cool and no big deal. Women acting like men regarding sex. Don't get me started about the 1% and women. NO great depth to the one song she sang
