✨ Let us tell you more 👇 _____________ 💾Save to your Washington hiking list ➡️Share with your hiking buddies 💥Follow @rootednroaming to level up your PNW adventures ❗️And you better be leaving no trace when you visit _____________ This is what we did to day hike the Enchantments with a single car and no overnight permit. We recommend this route to experienced hikers looking for a hard day hike. Overall it was about 14 miles and 5,000 feet of elevation gain. We started about 8 am at Stuart and Colchuck Lake Trailhead. But we would recommend getting there even earlier, as it was quite crowded already (it was a Saturday) and you want as much daylight as possible. The 4 miles and 2,000 feet of elevation gain to Colchuck Lake went quickly, but the incline was not exactly easy! We took a swim and snack break at Colchuck Lake. The water is such a pretty color. Then we tackled the infamous Aasgard Pass, which is no joke. Its another 2,000 feet to the top of the pass from Colchuck Lake, and the trail is steep, rocky, and undefined. You should only do this if you are an experienced and fit hiker. We spent some time exploring the first few lakes in the core and enjoyed a lunch while we soaked in the views. We had a long way to go back down, so we headed down from Aasgard Pass. The descent was harder than the incline, and by the time we were down our knees and feet were hurting. We scurried back to the car after another dip in Colchuck Lake. We got to the car around 8 pm, making it a full day on the trail.

I took a shit in those same hot spring tubs in 2004 when I was 18. My buddy and I were there to scope out the nide chick's and chill. Just know you sat in the dame tub I shat in. You're welcome.
Thank you! I have been wanting to check out UHS yet as an autistic person I am always hesitant when I cannot see the lay of the land first. You solved my problem for me and now I can go, loaded down with great tips. Thanks again ;)
People who find cools places organically on there own are 10x more likely to be respectful to the land. People who find it digitally seem to respect the area less.
Not sure I agree with that! Whether you hear it word of mouth in person or online it seems the same. Just important for everyone to leave no trace and respect the location.
Nice, I hiked in 2022 with my sons, and one who would make our trip his 3rd. We started at Cloud Cap going counter because he wanted something different and the rest of us had no reference to what was best. I liked going counter to talk to other hikers about what was in store for either of us. I also liked getting to Timberline for a very nice 3/4 of the way pit stop.
Starting from Timberline Lodge, head clockwise 10 miles to the Sandy River crossing. Day two brings you about 16 miles to Cloudcap. Day three rounds out the hike with about 14 miles back to the lodge. Of course, you can do the reverse to make it a counterclockwise trip, which is also a great option. There are many other variations of a two-night itinerary as well.
I did this trail last year. I started with my brother but he couldn’t finish so we had to get a hitch out of top spur to get the car at timberline, I then came back in Sep and did it CCW with my bestie. Two nights. I would have done three but we just were tired

This gorgeous campus is open to the public and located south of Portland. It's totally worth a visit. This place is seriously out of a fairy tale. Pro tip: bring a picnic blanket and setup on their huge lawn. The view of Mt. Hood is stunning and their flowers are in full bloom right now! Tag your bestie who you want to explore these gardens with!
Haha thanks! Yeah it was seriously one of the hardest things we've ever done. We had no intention of it being so tough... But now that its over it is fun to look back on!
@@RootedandRoaming you can definitely do so much more! I did the 500 miles of the Oregon PCT. So many times i thought i was done - but then i have great memories of adventure - while many were just watching Netflix. I've travelled to 47 countries and lived about 12 years out of the States. I recommend you do that as a couple. There are farms and businesses all over the world you can stay for free if you work a certain amount, and they provide lodging, food, and some pay. If you're interested i can tell you more details of places i've been doing that...Israel, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Egypt, Austria, Holland, Brazil... Anyway, keep up the adventures - you guys are great!
@@blessedwithchallenges9917 sounds like a life well lived! Something many people cannot say themselves. We do have plans to travel some this year, in addition to more regional PNW adventures. We are trying to balance saving for the future and enjoying the present, which is tough at times for sure, but hopefully will be helpful to our future selves. So many ways to navigate life, but at the end of it, you can't take anything with you so best to make the most of our time here!
@@RootedandRoaming i sacrificed and lived in an rv for 3 years. Saved - everything! Bought my first house. Never lived in it - rented it out while traveling the world. Worked great for me. But of course, there are so many ways to do it...

✨How to learn to surf in OR👇 ______________ ➡️ Share with your adventure friends 💾 Save to your Oregon coast list! 💥 Subscribe to level up your PNW adventures! As always, leave no trace! ______________ 🏄♂️🏄🏄♀️ Surfing is one of our favorite outdoor activities. There is nothing like the feeling of gliding down a wave! 🙌 Being outside and active in a dynamic and beautiful environment is hard to describe, so just take our word that it is awesome! 🤔 The truth is, learning to surf is not easy. It’s a steep learning curve that takes commitment. On top of that the gear can be expensive, but buying used is the best option for beginners. 📝We recommend watching some RU-vid videos to understand the basics. Then actually going out and doing it! 🚙🌊 We recommend taking a lesson. You can do this at many surf shops around the Oregon Coast. A lesson is the best way to kickstart your journey. 😎 Next, find some other people who are learning how to surf or are already experienced. It’s always safer to surf with a buddy and surfing with friends is so much fun! 🤔 Learn how to read a surf report. The conditions vary A TON based on the wind, currents, time of year, etc. As a beginner, you’ll want to look for 2-3 foot waves. 🗽🛟 Don’t give up! Keep practicing. Try to go at least 5 times a year. The more waves you can catch the better, even if you can barely stand up! It’s all about muscle memory and repetition. Oh and the type of board matters. 💻 We’ll probably write some articles and make some videos about surfing in Oregon at some point! So stick around for more tips for surfing in Oregon! ✨Follow us to level up your adventures in the PNW!
