Hi , and thanks for dropping in on what may seem to be quite a Mix of Music, I started DV8, a Niteclub, in Johannesburg South Africa in 1980, there were other clubs previous to Dv8,, but Dv8 was a place where people found a form of Freedom, in South Africa in those Dark days of Apartheid, a collective of people who wanted change. I don't see myself as a Dj but a Selecta of different forms of Music, This Channel is for Like minded people, who enjoy an adventure through Music as I do. . If I can put a smile on one person's face a day for the music I select, then I have achieved my purpose . Gratitude .
PLEASE CHECK OUT THE PLAYLISTS , ENJOY THE JOURNEY !!! If you enjoy please like

@@DV8TheOriginalMartinVogelman I think it wasn't really a band ,but (like The The or Simply Red) just one person Daniel Miller. He did a brief tour as 'the Normal' with Robert Rental & then ran Mute Records (Depeche mode ,Fad Gadget, Erasure. Goldfrapp etc)
Is this 'newish' ? ,some time since 2000 in my world ! ,as there is a lot of use of the 'Star image' they used on the 'Automatic'lp from 89 / 90 - I think it was the last lp from them I bought ..'Blues from a gun' was a good 7" though & they were still Ok live. It's just there was so much initial belief in them from music press looking for 'the new Sex Pistols '..
@@DV8TheOriginalMartinVogelman thanks - sounds like the engineering /marketing department may have had a say in this one - slightly ironic it sounds a bit like an old Primal Scream outtake...
Should have checked first - it is on RU-vid under 'Down on the street 1970 single mix' ... ....Tho they did put out a 'mono mix' without keyboards as ,I think 'a promo' ... Amusingly their promo& demo releases of 7"s were not much rarer than ordinary copies as they sold so few ! ...
Thanks for uploading - it reminds me a bit where in the 60s US groups tried to do their own Rolling Stones/Who/Liverpool groups sounds ....& ended up with something very different. Actually this is really good & without the 'no Babylon style ' lyrics could have been a real niteclub dance floor classic . ( well played & produced for a 'self production' (?) ) ... if you didn't see there's a message on Yr 'Stooges -'Down on the street'
Hi there , thanks for feedback ...but no ,I have no particular 'knowledge' just stuff that's accumulated from an aimless life! - i think what you & others do is great - like the old days listening to night time radio knowing something special may just be a tap away ! I'm subscribed to very few channels & due to my brain damage (Anterograde Amnesia) it may take a very long time before I stop looking for 'the Chuck Berry one' The guy that called me was the guitarist of 'indie bandwagon jumpers' 'the Catherine Wheel ' ( 3 of us tried getting the group thing together before last year of school '79-'80 ) ..I'm not sure why he mentioned his 'new project' to me really - he was asking anybody to cut a vocal to his backing trax (even Michael Stipe!) ...the Catherine Wheel went on to have success in the US & i was pleased for him ..but can happily get by without his music ... I was a big Stooge fan in the 80s - I don't know if you knew but about 20 years back 'the Complete Funhouse sessions' was released (so had every minute of what went on - 25 versions of some songs , it all being 'live') ... but they also did a 2 disc release - 1 disc being the lp (did a good mastering job - the bass on the title track better than my vinyl).... Anyway , there's 14tracks on disc 2 -12 alt takes & there's also the 7" single version 'down on the street' /'1970' ... 'Down on the Street' is really interesting as they've overdubbed some 'Doors'/'iron butterfly' type keyboards- if elektra label had stuck with them it could have been a hit - well worth a listen ...
Hi there - good song thanks , that I'd not heard . An old friend contacted me after 30 odd years & he was looking for vocalists to add vox to his tracks, I suggested Tanya Donelly ( he had recorded with her before) & she was already there .. Anyway I came up with Mazzy Star - 'good idea' he said ....some months later I emailed ' did you know Hope Sandoval , from when you were touring ? ' - I had no idea they were the same person ! Tho when I saw her in late '80s supporting U V Scene ,the flyer said 'Mozzy Star '...
This reminds of my late bestie it's be 13 years since I lost her and in this life she will always be my only bestie . No girl before and no 1 after her.
@@DV8TheOriginalMartinVogelman thank you ,for the clarification in the video s description on your page "mousedancing" is something that I discovered as a fluke ,and that I had a natural ability (to manipulate the specially sized cursor on a specifically sized screen percentage ) to move and capture a very small portion of the default screen of music as it played in my viewer. I was capturing in that viewer and I moved the cursor, and discovered after that my movement of the cursor was actually recorded in the screen capture itself . "well now " I murmured to myself ,and proceeded to recreate the same input conditions . There was no specific plan of execution. I just moved the mouse/cursor on the whim of the audio and the real time feedback /stimulus of the static image of the player itself. I now know , that I'm able to this without conscience thought. Cheers. Enjoy.....
there is a stuttering techno version of "dancing queen" by ABBA, that has a nice beat ,and some sonic repetitions that would compete nicely with the elongated vocal moments.I think it would be a great candidate to be my next project ,what do you think....?
“Mouse input dancing “ Yep ,it’s a thing I just might have invented it, not sure as I have never heard or seen of it before . There’s always a first to be had. Check out my channel , I have done 3 versions. The fine folks at Rammstein have lovingly granted me the privilege of being able to post my visual interpretation of this song from the heavens above all of us.. I’m most proud of the latest version . A key point to grasp is the sharp transformation back to b/w at the utterance of the (lyrical crescendo ) WORD of this song. Let be know, -Cheers, John. m.youtube.com/@johnvanveen1482
