The whole Gears discussion seems slightly off kilter to me. Dom and Marcus have been lifelong friends. They forged their bond through childhood and the Pendulum war. This isn't going to solidify it, because it was always there. I mean, if we want that then they should make a gears version of "Mix Tape" lol The disappointment in Gears after the trilogy, I would say, was due to the writing and the story, and them being a bit of a cash grab. The only reason the open world was so reviled was because there was nothing to do in it. A single game should cover the whole thing. We know the history, it's out there. I don't think a trilogy is required. I want to put this out there. The coalition has been practically dead silent for the last five years working on building this game and mastering the UE5 engine. This is going to be the engine for the next decade (IMO). What if they have been building the game world so that now instead of waiting and building a game every 5 years they now have the core of the world and can just pump out one over couple of years? Like what 343 tried with the Slipspace engine? I've posted this before but if the 2025 E-Day release is legit then IMO 2026 will be the Year of Gears, sort of like 2013 was the year of Luigi for Nintendo. 2025 Holiday Gears E-Day. Spring 2026 Gears Collection in UE5. Summer UE4-5 updated to new engine with Unified MP accross all gears games. Holiday Gears 6 launch title with new hardware and custom console like the halos series X. That's my hope. lol
The Coalition has already told us that E-Day will cover the first few days of emergence day. There’s gonna be 14 years of Locust war to tell in between the first Gears of War game. It’s not gonna be a one and done! They have a chance to make this game last another 20 years and I hope they do it
Phil Spencer did not say everything is coming to other platforms. He never said that. He simply said that more of our games will come to other platforms.....not everything. 🙄
I'm of the view that if anything is a one and done title (like Pentiment or HiFi Rush) or the game is a live service title that benefits the most from being on all platforms, they'll stay on xbox and pc. Doom is an already existing franchise that has even been on the Super Nintendo so it is sensible to keep it playable on everything (especially Switch 2 lol)
Sorry Gamsly but the reason that star wars got bad was not quantity it was the quality.... and there's no problem doing the same with the gears series , If we want more stories, I don't want to just have to rely on books alone, I want movies, and more games for the story. The key is if they hit the right buttons on story and not slap their fans in the face the way star wars and marvel did. Sorry bro, but they're doing the right thing with this move here. In my opinion..... Starfield is not going to go to PS for a very long time. Eventually? Yes...but not for a long time. Why? Because it is is simple. While there are other criteria to consider - legal issues as in the case of COD or legacy titles such as Doom for example - there appears to be one major factor for consideration, one major criteria for MicroSoft to put a game on other consoles. Does the game attract players into buying into the XBox eco-system? Simple criteria. Does the game encourage gamers to buy an Xbox? Does it generate subs into GamePass or act to keep them there? Hi Fi Rush did not. Great game...but MicroSoft didn't market it. Grounded did not. Also a great game but again, no major marketing push. Pentiment? Great little game but niche at the best of times. Sea of Thieves? Great little GAAS game that keeps well...but it is also 7 years old and isn't bringing the same level of growth. If you want to see which games are going to go to PlayStation or Switch, you just need to ask - is this game brining in subs or selling consoles? If they aren't, then MS will send them off to other consoles where they can spread knowledge of the IP, get people and players invested, recover some money and hopefully encourage those players to invest in the XBox eco-system. The same excuse Sony is using with its PC strategy - but more honest and with far great hope of success. StarField? Despite what the press and Ponies say....StarField is a success. It brought people into GamePass. It sold well. It is still making news months after release when other games such as Spiderman 2 or FF7 have been forgotten. Noone is talking about Sonys supposed big hitters these days. But StarField is still making headlines. That success is why StarField isn't going to PlayStation or Switch anytime soon. And by the time it drops off in popularity enough to warrant such a transfer...it might not be worth it. There are few 3 or 5 year old games that would sell well. In short,. what MS appears to be moving to is a strategy of Timed Exclusivity, albeit with exceptions. Once a game is of no benefit to GamePass or Xbox, once the value of exclusivity has run it s course, then it'll be sent off. It'll still be of value to the XBox community and GamePass simply by being in GamePass - eventually, there will be a huge number of games and titles and the advantage here is no licensing fees, no royalties, etc (though we have yet to see if games like Indy or FH5 have a lifespan) - but MS isn't going to value an exclusivity that has no value. And with MSs development pipeline, it'll be able to bring in one or two games as exclusives for every game that loses that tag and releases on other platforms. Not least because MS likely still needs even more dev teams and publishers to guarantee it that steady stream. But if it does get up to 100m subs - plausible if MS handles things right - then it can easily fund 50 or 60 AAA development teams and still have plenty of profit. Thats the benefit of services like GamePass and NetFlix...costs are relatively static and once you have enough subs to cover that, everything else is pure profit. This is a strategy that PS cannot compete against. Its own player base will be spending huge sums on XBox and MS games which MS will then use to fund its own eco system. And Sony lacks the money and development teams to even counteract that strategy. Right now, it is spending millions money hatting games like WuKong but the truth is, it is burning money. For every game it money hats like this, it could be funding 3-5 first party titles. But it has to burn that money or be put where MS was in 2016....."PS has no games". If Sony spends its money on games development, then it cannot spend money on buying 3rd party exclusives to cover any gap in its release schedule. Not unless Sony spends much more money on its PS division with limited prospect of increasing its profitability - Sony might even go into the red if it chose such a strategy. Conversely, if it released no games for a few years while it transitioned to a more MS style approach, it would lose its market share. A very fine line to walk and one where it isn't likely to pass unscathed - PS seems likely to lose its dominance over the next 5 years.
This is a clickbaity stretch. What a major inference I dont want it to end up there either but id rather live in reality. Hopefully gears and halo stay off, phil has said as much
I REALLLLLLY HOPE GEARS E-Day is a Complete ReBoot. Like God of Wasr did.. why else do a prequel.. everybody has been saying that gears needs to step outside of their comfort zone. Gears could really use a fresh coat of paint. Gears has the potential to be an amazing third person, action adventure.. but I really think they should change their gameplay mechanics and play-style.. and make the game a lot scarier. Gears could be Microsoft equivalent game to “The last of us” if they do it right.
No, just going to respectfully disagree. Gears is what Gears is, and messing with the formula too much changes that. It's not a survival horror game, it never has been. It was basically Aliens 2.
The remakes were outsourced I don't trust this news I believe they are still in development been reported fact that this company has been working on them
I think they should consider making gears and halo longer multiplayer FOR SURE. Along with forza horizon getting story mode as well. No yearly releases anymore better story replayable story remakes / reboots in between games.
Man I have 8 game changing Starfield mods that I got from Creation for FREE. I’m surprised you guys seemed not to know that’s a thing. Lots of mods on there is free. 🤣 Must have been a while since any of you played. Creation has totally remade Skyrim and Fallout. Modders are doing a complete remake of Skyrim.
I got all the Gears of War books as well as the comics, I already know the story about the Lancer and how the chainsaw was created...hint...Tai Kaliso, Battle of Jannermont that's all I'm going to say, also to Mr Boomstick he asked why Baird is an asshole, well that story is explained in Gears of War Judgment, it also explains the background of Garron Paduk.
Xbox is my main console brand. I enjoy Playstation and Nintendo too. If Microsoft is giving away the store for money then just become 3rd party. There no sense of purchasing Xbox hardware if Playstation is getting everything. Sure I'll probably pay more for the same game and wait awhile for it, but I'll have excess to everything. Playstation __ will be my dream console and have the best of both worlds sort of speak.

Now I agree with you that Starfield isn't coming to Playstation anytime soon, but talk about trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. It was very entertaining. I saw the stream where someone was saying they don't care if Xbox games comes to other platforms. Just as long as he can play it in Game Pass. He don't speak for eveybody. Owning a Playstation, why should I buy a Xbox if all Xbox games is coming over. Sure, I might pay more for the same games, but I'll have the dream console with the best of both worlds with Playstation!
I don't think Tod's statements had anything to do with the game going or not going to other platforms. This statement was relating to the question Matty asked about new IP. Why would talk about the game going to playstation during the interview lol Jezz said the same thing about sea of thieves - he said how RARE had their hands full and was certainly not developing or for other places.... then we find out that a lot of RARE didn't even know about the SoT port. They themselves don't need to do the porting specifically. I think the game is definitely getting ported at some point. I've always been with the belief that the game would get some kind of complete edition or game of the year edition 2 or 3 years after launch once they pump out most of the dlc and major expansions
Microsoft isn't saying that. Microsoft never said competing platforms is getting everything. As I understand it now, it's still case by case basis. I can assume most games will come over, But not Halo, Gears, Forza, and Starfield. Those games are certified by Xbox community. Starfield was review bombed by others, remember?
Phil already said dont think that the whole slate is going because it's not & also they basically said they wouldn't send games that would hurt the Xbox brand so that would take Halo, Gears, Forza & Fable off the table.. Everything else is a case by case basis which I'm kool with considering the fact that we get everything day 1 on game pass & keeping Halo, Gears , Forza & Fable console exclusive to the Xbox keeps me at peace 😎
If Starfield ever went to PS5, it would instantly be a 9.5 on Metacritic overnight. lol. SF is great, and is the only decent space-themed game for consoles (I would have said Elite Dangerous, but unfortunately no space legs for consoles. And while NMS is awesome, it gets old after a while).
It’ll go to PS eventually but they’re not a huge studio, at least at this time. They only have approximately 250 devs so it could be a fairly long time before it would. They have their hands full as it is right now but I wouldn’t hold off buying into the ecosystem hoping it’ll be there in the next year or two. Might by the time the nextbox hits.

How I think it will go. If it has "Xbox Game Studios" being apart of it and is a new AAA single player IP It will remain on xbox. If it's AA it'll make it's rounds on xbox for a year or two then go elsewhere Other then halo and forza If it's live service it will go multi plat If it's an existing IP that's already been on multiple platforms it will launch on multiple platforms.
When he says more platforms he doesn't always mean PlayStation you're seeing games go to Nvidia GeForce now.. he means Cloud streaming he means Nintendo he means a ton of platforms not always just PlayStation most games won't go to PlayStation I guarantee it
@@coreyc830Yup, specially when Sony have no intentions of putting their flagship titles on the Xbox platform. Sony has proven over & over again to be anti Xbox and because of Sony's attitude towards Microsoft, I predict we'll see less and less Microsoft games porting over to PlayStation. They might appear on other platforms, just not PlayStation.
I think PlayStations best option is to buy a handful of smaller double A studios and pump money in to their games. Make the lineup consistent. People don’t need God of War or Fable level games every year, but your showcases need to be better than just a 30 min preview of 3rd party with maybe one worthwhile game.
