Nice! Been looking at the squire starcaster contemporary for doom, which has actives. I was concerned about if I would have to do a full rewire, but I may just settle for a swap to better actives if needed after seeing this
I think I can recreate this tone on my Boss GT1 effects processor lol If I successfully recreated that Electric Wizard's tone, why couldn't I do the same with Sleep ?
I have the Rat and the HM300. So good. I figured out a setting on my amp mixed the the Rat that makes it sound indistinguishable from the guitar tone on Honour, Valour, Pride by Bolt thrower
CORRUPTED The Heaviest Band on Planet Earth! Neither band sounds Like CORRUPTED, the real crushing riffs. Doom Has Proved To Be One Of The Heaviest Styles In Metal. This is legitimate proof of this. There are many influences from Crust Punk, especially the Japanese Crust Scene. It would be great if you also made it a cover with the song Vasana Part 1 from CORRUPTED. It is a song that shows that merancholic, angry and decadent sound that sludge has. Greetings, Your Channel is Incredible!
Sounds awesome man! Quick question, why the captor since this isn’t a tube amp, does it sound better than the FX send? Keep up the great work, best doom channel.
the captor is a reactive loadbox. i dont know the exact way how, but it kind of simulates what a real speaker does. it is "closer" sounding to what a real miked cab sounds like, as opposed to risestive loadboxes and direct signals like the FX send. It doesnt matter if its a tube or transistor amp. Its still way better sounding than just an FX send.
@@DoomTones Thanks for responding, that IS an important detail and I always wonder about it. I've heard use the FX send and an IR, but I've never seen the two compared, thanks for doing the homework, love your channel and I always learn alot!
@@homebrew7543 glad you like the channel! when I used to use the fx send with IRS, I always had a power amp sim before the IR. The ignite amps tpa -1. It does a decent job of simulating a real tube power amp section and is very tweakable.
Is Amplitube 5 worth it? I used to get a lot of great tones from 3 back in the day, but it's been years since I did the VST thing. I live in a cramped apartment, so I'm back at it. Pretty sure a cranked tube amp will get me evicted, lol.
i still use the Amplitube 5 Orange Pack with all the amps. Its one of my favourite amp plugins. The Orange Tiny terror plugin sounds like 85% close to my real TT. Its quite incredible. Amplitube stock cabs suck, but with the right cab sim, these amps are very good sounding. You can always try them before you buy. Here is me demoing this amp pack in Amplitube 5 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nSVhzoQ_m_w.html
My favourite doom tone is Rat into Pharaoh Supreme. I put the rat on mid gain, with the level high and the highs rolled off on the filter quite a bit. Than I crank the pre-grain control on the pharaoh, have the fuzz at 60-70%, and use Mosfet clipping. It's a wonderous, crushing and hammering fuzz tone.
I've been trying to use the open-source Neural Amp Modeler with ToneHut and free VSTs to make a ridiculous doom tone. There are certainly a lot a Orange and Sunn models to choose from, but mileage definitely varies. Because it's all free, you should give it a try sometime, if you haven't already.
yep i tried out some of the models. I love the tones you can get from them. Try the Verellen Matamp GT 120 model from tonehunt. its an amazing pedal platform.
