I bought X-Men Origins Wolverine [X360] and [CIB] almost 3 years ago from Facebook Marketplace in a 4 game bundle for $45 [$11.25 for each game]. I remember playing the demo on my Xbox 360 and later on playing the game at my friend's house before I bought the game. I was lucky to have snagged it before the price skyrocketed, and a few years after Activision lost the Marvel Comics IP.
Heck yeah you are lucky! Great instincts on your part! I've been looking to buy it for my 360, but as you said, price has skyrocketed. I ended up choosing to just get it for PC. Still wish I had it on 360, just so I can unlock achievements.
@@Rednaxela88 Yeah sorta, I usually throw on videos for background to whatever I’m doing and you’ve got good vibes for it lol. Def don’t be afraid to have your videos a little on the longer side.
Yo also, this is something I found out accidently. When you aim your flamethrower, it actually creates a bit of light, that the alien can notice if it's close enough. Just a fun fact. XD
Alright it's killing me not to point this out - and since so few people seem to realize it I'll just go ahead and say it. Point your revolver at a tank - the bigger the better - when alien/droid/hostile person walking by it. ...it's less useful now that you are this far in but it still works as a weapon/distraction whatever. No one realizes how many opportunities they pass up doing it.
@@Rednaxela88those red cylinders. First one in this vid is @ 1:25. They’ll save you some flamethrower fuel if you shoot one next to the alien, but I never really found em useful as a distraction. You still have to shoot at it and the alien will investigate the area you shot from
You know when a game has you so scared that you forget to stand up and play the whole game in the crawl stance, and only notice when your head is the same level as the androids nuts.
You seem to have forgotten about your Flamethrower! LOL I would personally recommend using the Flamethrower as sparingly as possible, if you spam it too much the Alien will adapt, and it will take more and more fire to make it back off. It basically learns to brute force the heat longer. Molotov Cocktails are also very useful to make it back off if you time it correctly, but those can also kill you if you are too close to were it lands. If you can get away with hiding or using distractions, then that is best. You'll get better at figuring out which is best to use as you play and get more experience. @PanBaxterStockman's comment has a lot of good advice and hints that I never noticed before. Make sure to check that comment out!
I will be sure to check that comment out. In the next video I’m going to upload I actually use the flamethrower and Molotov cocktail in the video. Thank you for commenting and all of your helpful advice 🙏🏼
I’m a big fan of the original. I just didn’t realize the mission was PURE fan service and failed to see the point in the context of the story. But it did show how the beacon shut off. So there is that
9:15 "inconsistency?" Why do people blame the game for things they don't fully understand or pay attention to? the game has already said and shown that when you do things you are not allowed to do, the robots will get angry, just like previously in the communications section.
To be fair. I went through this entire game on Hard without realizing how to pull up the map… I was very scared and confused, and me being scared made my confusion worse. Also, I vehemently hate the Working Joes
About your audio bugs, make sure to turn ON vsync, ...in this game engine, it's necessary because vsync is attached to the physics and audio to coordinate scenes playing out correctly. In THIS game engine, vsync doesn't just merely stop screen-tearing, it affects the timing of the players physical interactions with everything, so make sure you have vsync turned on = no more sound bugs.
This "pointless" mission was to repair a plot hole that was not addressed between the Alien 1 and Aliens 2 movies (while simultaneously being a jumping off point for the plot of this game). The Nostromo is passing by a system with a emergency signal strength that is strong enough to be heard outside of that system. The Nostromo ship (with the entire crew asleep) changes course to go there in response and when it arrives wakes the crew up to investigate. The Nostromo crew follows the signal to the planet LV-426, lands nearby and keep following the signal source. They find the alien ship, the space jockey and the alien eggs. The crew member gets face hugged, implanted and leads to the events of Alien 1. But 57 years later (around 42 years after the events of this game you are currently playing) when Ellen Ripley is found and wakes up and finds out that LV-426 has a "shake and bake" colony on it. But why didn't they hear the signal and find the Space Jockey ship when they got there? They are literally on the planet the Nostromo heard the emergency signal from far outside of the system. An emergency signal that had been sounding out for hundreds if not thousands of years before the Nostromo ever picked it up. No-one in the Nostromo crew in Alien 1 ever turned the signal off after they found the alien ship, so it would still be active and signalling. But somehow neither the Weyland-Yutani Corporation nor the people living in the Shake and Bake colony on the planet ever detected it over the 42 years since? and the people on the colony needed to be given the exact coordinates to investigate it by the information Burke gave them from what he learned from Ellen Ripley? That doesn't make any sense. It was a major plothole that was never addressed in the movies. ...well, not until this game anyway, and the so- called "pointless" mission you played here.
With that context, I can appreciate the mission more now. I enjoyed walking through the derelict ship on LV-426 and seeing the big Space Jockey, but I definitely missed the point of what the mission was doing story-wise, for previous movies and the current game. Everything you said makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up.
No problem bud. Back in the day, this was one of the only things that bugged me from the Alien 1 and Aliens 2 movies (which were otherwise plotwise pretty much flawless). So when this game not only addressed it, but also found a way for it to be explained that fit well into the Aliens lore (without it being just a weak retroactive patchjob) I was genuinely stoked. ...On a side note. You mentioned in your 1st video about "Ripley's daughter" (whether she had one). In the Aliens 2 directors cut. After Ellen Ripley is woken up, Burke tries to find out what happened to her daughter. Burke tells Ripley. "Amanda Ripley Mclaren... Married name I guess?". "Aged 66, and that was at the time of her death. Which was 2 years ago. I'm real sorry". "She had no children... I checked". *The photo shown of her "daughter" in the movie is a photo of Sigorney Weaver's real life mother. Which was a nice touch*. Ellen Replies. "I promised her I would be home for her birthday... her 11th birthday". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GPItoMfPHLQ.html
Just finished my first play through yesterday. My heart was pounding with the Alien and face huggers jumping out till the end. Mainly the Alien, because the face huggers are in the same spots.
I freaking love this section, it's such a love letter to Alien fans. I saw a behind the scenes documentary that revealed that the developers were given unprecedented access to EVERYTHING 20th Century Fox had in archive material on the Original Alien movie. Set photos, unreleased artwork, sound files, you name it they had it. And it really shows. And you really need to rewatch Alien my Dude, there was a weird glowing film over the eggs and the mist around them.
THERE WAS?! I remember there being a mist over the eggs, not an illuminated blue ray. But It’s been probably 9 months since I last watched it so I’ll definitely have to watch it again soon. The aesthetics in this game are out of this world perfect. Also Marlo’s lover girl got absolutely wrecked by that face hugger😭😭
I agree, I love this section. This was 100% about putting you in the original movie and seeing the Space Cowboy up close and personal, as well as getting to see the inside of that lower chamber. Also, from a gaming perspective, this is kind of a nice break from being chased down by androids and a relentless Alien a la Medical....Oh and this mission explains why the terraforming personnel in Aliens never found the ship without being directed to it.
Dude just caught up with you playing this. Sick use of the revolver in the station. Also, kudos for using (or attempting to use) your tools. No spoilers, but I'll offer a cool clue - one _nobody_ knows to use. The revolver is actually more useful than just shooting people in the head or attracting the alien... it can, under correct circumstances, drive the alien away temporarily. Did you ever see Hunt for Red October? For those reading who did, remember what Ramus tells Ryan after Ramus is shot? If you stay frosty and alert, you can use it to your advantage...
@@Rednaxela88 No worries, but it will augment your offensive output (and would have up to this point). Don't feel badly about not seeing it - I don't even see the clue in a lot of online discussion help logs and I haven't seen any "Let's Play" folks figure it out... but once you do... Ohhhhhhh :) As I say, only in certain situations, so you have to plan a little...
ugh this game is so awesome Its a shame the current steam build sucks ass and sometimes has bugs..this really is an amazing game, probably the best alien game out there
This game was and still is my favourite horror game. :D Also dunno if others told you already, but when you keep hiding a lot, Alien's ai is learning from it. So the more you hide, the more Xeno will be checking the available hiding spots. (Also, I love that you kept the previous vid despite having died so many times. On my first run, I got completely destroyed during the med mission, and then I watched others on yt just nail it. xd)
😂I’m glad you can appreciate it, I wasn’t terribly confident in it. I had cut out a lot of my deaths and it was still a SUPER long video filled with me dying🤣🤣
Fun Fact, the Androids jogging on the spot is actually a reference to the original Alien film, when the crew lands on LV426 and leaves the ship to investigate the distress signal Ash enters the deck and starts jogging on the spot to hype himself up before sitting down.
I think the sound bug occurs because the game runs at 100+ fps, so if you set the fps below 100 it should solve the problem Btw you picked up the medkit at 2:43 already so now you're on your way back to samuels and taylor
@@Rednaxela88 Right, I honestly don't know much about these things, but I've seen some advice on the internet about this problem, so maybe you can find something that works for you
Great video, also I've got a few tips: You may normally walk if the alien is in the vent (you can't run) but be ready to quickly crouch if it drops down again, don't use the motion tracker if hidden inside a closet and the motion tracker says number around 20 because if you do then people, androids and the alien can hear it, and never lean forward in a closet because that can be considered a suicide if there's an alien nearby. (that's all my tips, hope they help :D)
I’ve seen online that sometimes the Alien can hear you if you have your microphone set up a certain way. Idk why but when I play the game I tell myself the Alien can hear me and then I’d stop talking😂
Another thing is that if you can, hiding behind a table is infinitely more effective than hiding under it. In order to see you, he has to walk around the table and you can just carefully circle around it.
@@Rednaxela88 Yep. Now big brained move is to hide behind the table but at the opening to go under so when the alien is coming 'round you can just duck under. Do keep in mind that sometimes the hide behind method might get you killed but I think that's due to me misjudging sight lines. If the table is too short the alien will see you behind it. If I were to guess I think if it can see below your shoulders, it can see you.
What I have learned is that the animation of the alien's arrival takes long enough that you can book it to the coded door and get in before the alien can see you.
