Hey there, I’m Jason & this is my RU-vid channel dedicated to my passion of collecting! The channel initially began with my collecting of high end statues, mainly by statue companies such as Prime 1 Studio & Weta Workshop. I originally collected mainly from the Lord of the Rings line, but I have recently added Predator and moreover now, Star Wars (original trilogy only).
With this, I have also begun buying Lego sets - something I used to collect back in the early 2000’s. And I am now enjoying doing occasional build vids and also ‘building’ a decent Lego collection - mainly focusing on Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park & Harry Potter.
Be sure to also check out my other channels covering my other hobbies & interests…

Corporate greed - statue companies have taken customers for granted continuously raising prices and increasingly delaying deliveries. Scales and size have rocketed without a commensurate attention to much higher detail and composition (except for premium silicone). Shipping remains totally out of control and adds to the taxation burden on imports. Resale on Secondly markets is dying again due to costs but also on trust as so much scamming ongoing now - very difficult to trust anyone except those you already know and EbayPayPal offer limited protection in reality. This seems to have killed international trade. Newbies don’t have the cash to buy and oldy addicts are also increasingly pressed financially or just wary as there is too much stuff. For me i am fine the hobby scales back as would like to feel like i have completed my collection. Couple of pieces a year ok for me not the 20 to 30 of recent years
Hey there, yes indeed mate, you’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head!… Being nostalgic, I do miss what it was like for me, a few years back… this ‘new’ collecting hasn’t had the same feeling at all… But I’m lucky, as I am happy with what I have and like yourself, will now probably only add 1 or 2 major pieces to my collection?
Nice top 5, mate! Is there a reason you don't have the P1 Nazgul? I’ve got the Witch King, Sauron, and Nazgul displayed together (I only have them as LOTR collectibles, which is enough for me). I absolutely adore them together. This just came to my mind as I was wondering if you plan to display the Infinity busts together or not.
Hi matey, yeah I was never a fan of the P1 Nazgûl piece?… and having the Infinity 1:1, didn’t really seem all too necessary to also have the the 1:4 P1 one?… Cheers matey 👍🏻
It's great to have you back, I've always enjoyed your content. The statue world is changing but not all of it is a bad thing. Sideshow has been on fire with well priced very good pieces as well as Weta, LBS and Iron Studios. Even PCS has been showing a lot of pieces but slow to release and we're all waiting to see them hit the collectors homes. I do think there's still a lot of content on RU-vid, I'm still watching a lot of unboxing videos and coverages of new pieces coming out. A lot of the same people showing us what they have coming in and enabling us! :) Like you I collect to keep and haven't sold hardly anything so the big purchases have pretty much stopped. Prime 1 is out of control with the statue pricing and shipping costs so most of their pieces are off my radar. Hoping other statue companies see what's happening and realize the bulk of the community will not buy these big overpriced pieces. We shall see!
@@BeastStatues hey cheers matey & really appreciate your comment - it’s good to hear other collectors viewpoints on these issues etc Yeah, P1 need to get a grip or they’re going to spiral totally out of control!… Same with JND & Queen, whose prices are baffling to me on some of their pieces?… Anyway, cheers once again matey 👍🏻
Good to see you back mate. Was actually thinking u was never going to return and u called it a day but good to see u back, looking fresh mate. Keep those ideas in your head and keep the videos coming. I do see where your coming from it does seem dead but there is a lot oh new pieces away to come out aswell👍
@@alanc3282 many thanks mate… just very busy and occasionally just need to take a break from certain things… I’ll always be a ‘collector’ as I love getting stuff in and having collections! 😁👍🏻
glad to see your back totally agree with you 👍🙂 i've only been collecting past 2yrs an prices on new statues and shipping an import duties starting to get well out of price range for me and i guess aswell many other new/old collectors. its a shame as i was enjoying getting into collecting but may have to stop 😕🤔
@@johnclark5999 hey cheers matey!… Yes, it has gotten silly recently and seems large decline in the number of people collecting statues now?… (just look at edition sizes!)… Statue companies will need to start readjusting what they’re doing or I’m guessing the future will be bleak for them?… Cheers again matey 👍🏻
I feel the same. Been collecting for 20 years and I love the pieces that I have acquired during that time, but these last couple of years it's really been hard to stay excited about statue collecting. For me, it's a combination of high prices, crazy shipping costs and the time delay between PO and actually receiving the statue. The time delay being the worst of the worst of it for me. I went all in on the P1 LOTR line and the wait time for delivery on all of these pieces has been so painful. I still have four P1 statues on PO. For example, I ordered Gimli from a well known US distributor and 2 years and 7 months later after I paid my deposit, I am still waiting for any news that it is arriving anytime soon. It's hard to get excited about anything new when you know that you are going to have to wait years after putting a deposit down to see it displayed in your home. So, I think after I finally receive these last PO's, I'm done with statue collecting. It's a pity, it was really fun for a long time.
Hi there, thanks matey! Yes, you’ve picked up on another area which as you say no doubt is also an indicator of the current slump… But!… Hopefully, like a phoenix from the ashes, a new wave of collecting excitement is soon to be born?!…(was that maybe a little over the top?..) 😆 Cheers matey! 😁👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector I gotta tell you that I have been very excited about the items coming from Iron Studios as of late! I wouldn't call them a Phoenix from the ashes, but maybe a song bird signaling the start of a new dawn. Lol. Love your channel.
@@CollectiblesCorner haha, it’s all about the good feeling each of us get from collecting, the what it is, doesn’t really matter?… Thank you matey, appreciate you saying 👍🏻
Hi, My statue is stuck in customs and I got sent a form to fill in, have you ever had to do this ? Asks if it is an antique, work of art or a collectible ? Have you ever had to fill this in ? Asks if I am a business also ? Rung UPS and said I'm not a business and doesn't really fall into the categories they ask? What should you put?
Never had that matey, but I’d just fill it in as a collectible and simply state you’re not a business… sometimes the paperwork involved with certain logistical companies are unnecessarily complicated?
@@hauntofthecollector Thanks for the response. First time I've bought direct from Prime1. Batman statue collector had a video mentioning this but didn't go into specifics. Wonder if its to do with normal.shipping rather than the 3 month one
@@KurosakiDanteK I’m not sure mate?… I’ve always purchased direct from P1 but apart from elevated import fees (with UPS!!), I’ve not really had any other issues?…
Prime 1, XM, JND, Queen are history and to blame for big pointless pieces. Sideshow, Iron Studios, PCS, etc there are doing it right. Jason, I disagree with you on the options. A few positive things that the hobby has recently created is the new united community, StatueCon, more companies listening to collectors. Weta and us have been working hand and hand to created some great display options for the US. But AGAIN! You are across the lake. Thats how it feels in the US IMO. Those first 4 companies I mentioned, expect some shake ups are closers.
Hey matey…. Yes, of course, depending where you are certainly can come in to play… & I recall being very excited when I was buying Sideshow pieces etc (I was a huge Court of the Dead collector…) & I really enjoyed how SS used to interact on streams with the fans of that line… And yes, really do appreciate the new things that are now happening (like StatueCon!) & I hope to be able to come one year?… Cheers my mate and really appreciate your comment and input etc dude 👍🏻
in all honesty, it's licensed companies to blame. Prime 1, Queen Studios, and XM have all lost the plot. Statues have gotten too big too expensive and not enough choice on scale neither nor value. People I use to talk with have gradually moved onto other hobbies. Jason do not apologies. It's totally understandable you need a break. Glad you took it.
you're a good one matey, always enjoy your videos, i myself have mostly lost interest in statues, lack of box space, selling is non-existent, overall just meh and onward to other endevours
Hey my mate!!! How are you?… I have seen some of your posts dude, it seems quite a few now are moving into other endeavours? Great to hear from you buddy - many happy memories streaming with you dude! ❤️
@@hauntofthecollector hey im ok matey, im enjoying the other endeavours better heh. yah man likewise, those were fun times us streaming and just a bunch of mates having a chuckle, always happy for ya dude, your artwork is amazing!
I totally agree Jason. At the moment the hobby is almost dead to me. I have 1 po for next year. Its simply nothing interesting I am able to afford. At the moment I switched to collecting trading cards. I have fun with it, but statue wise I don't know man price are sky high and there is simply nothing interesting.
Hey matey! Hope you’re having a nice time on hols?… Yes, it seems quite a few collectors have shifted their focus to other areas now? Good to hear from you my mate 👍🏻
Great to see you back mate, I am with you getting a bit too pricey these days, so am finishing off my new statue room fitout with current PO's already on order then will be done purchasing i think unless something changes with prices 🤞🙂Take care 🤘
Hey matey! Hope you’re doing well?… Yes, I can only see one potential future PO for me, on a larger scale… but as I’m not wanting to part with anything, display space now a real issue for me… Cheers my mate 👍🏻
Good seeing ya again miss hearing your thoughts on new reveals and the state of collecting. Statue buyers will always exist its just changed and change is scary.
I’m with you mate. Lost the excitement and passion I had for statue collecting, really since late last year. I’m still picking up a piece here and there but scaled back significantly. I’ve shifted my focus to Lego and love it 😎
Hey matey!!! Yes, I’ve been buying a lot of Lego these last few months, but have only begun to build sets this last week… Great to hear from you my mate! 👍🏻
Im right there with you. I have lost some excitement with statues because of the crazy shipping prices, huge delays in getting the statues out, and running out of space. There are still great statues being made and im glad to see it but ive definatly lost some of the excitement in the past few years
@@malettcollectibles hey there matey, many thanks for your comment… Hoping that there will be a u-turn and we see the return of more ‘sensibly’ priced pieces?… Plus, more new lines would help!!… I think we’re m getting fed up with the same characters being repeatedly produced?… Cheers buddy 👍🏻
Welcome back mate, still love the energy! I adore the Lego Jaws set as well. Such a nice diorama. I partly agree with what you said. Some brands are becoming more and more niche each day. Not the hobby itself. However, it doesn't necessary have to be a negative thing in my opinion. When I started losing the excitement of the hobby many years ago, it was because I did not like the quality of ANY of the statues available. They all looked cheap and sloppy to me. Then P1 announced the 1/3 Pred line. It jump started my excitement back again. Then the announcement of the XL line... Oh man, I am very excited for them! Thankfully I am very selective when it comes to collecting and that I have no interest in Marvel, DC, Star wars etc. Otherwise... I cant even imagine.. Haha. Nonetheless, it is nice seeing you. Hopefully regular uploads are coming back again as long as you are happy to make them of course.
Hey cheers matey! Really appreciate the comment & kind words!… And yes, I agree - something can come along and be a total catalyst for reigniting the passion once again!… As I said, it may have been partially ‘just me’ feeling a bit flat about things?… But I’ve never stopped loving the collecting hobby, nor shall I ever! And I’ve really missed making content and hearing from all you guys!!.. (And I’ve worked on a new vid today!… so, more content coming very soon!) 😉👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector Nice to hear! Also, I don't think a person has to have dozens of POs to be able to enjoy the hobby. Like you said in a previous video, we should appreciate what we have more and all the companies announcing 100s of statues each year steals the love we share to our collectibles in the first place.
Good to see you back, and I completely get where you are coming from with this video mate. Been in the collecting game myself for probably 20 years now, and I can honestly say it’ll be the death of this hobby if things carry on the same within the next 5 years. I used regularly have 4 or 5 piece’s on order with Sideshow when collecting was in its prime. Now I’ve got 1 piece that’s been on order for over 9 months, and to be honest I’m not expecting to see it for another 5 or 6 months either. Will more than likely be my final piece also as prices are just bonkers now.
Hey there matey, thank you for the comment and kind words… Yes, it’s certainly being echoed by most here that things have sadly changed for the worse! And we all can agree, I believe,… that greed is the root cause? Hopefully in the coming years we can see a shift and hopefully a u-turn within the hobby where more affordable pieces come back available to the many?… Cheers my mate 👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector I think this will be the new norm from now on I’m afraid mate, I really hope I’m wrong, but a lot of these studios are just catering for the high end collectors with these massive displays & huge salaries. I liked the look of that new Queen Studios 1/3 Hulk until I saw that they are asking 8k for it. It really is getting ridiculous now!
@@SimonStatueCollector75nx8jv whoa!!!… $8K is insane mate!!!… I mean, fair play to those that can afford to splash out that kind of dollar, but it does concern me that this may be the future for statue collecting?… I think there’s a lot to be said for the under $1K pieces that we so rarely see nowadays?…
@@mr.underhill7072 hey matey & many thanks is for the kind comment!… Yes, we can but hope for a serious u-turn in statue scales and prices, but as to whether that comes, who can say?… Cheers buddy 👍🏻
Great video! Glad you are back. I agree with everything you said! I don’t have many POs. I’m glad companies like sideshow are keeping the price of statues affordable
Hey cheers matey!… Yes, I think we can expect to see Sideshow ride a wave of potentially high success once again, given the number of collectors now looking for more sensibly priced items?.. Cheers matey 👍🏻
@@darthsauron23 ah sweet mate! I’m just looking at a SS piece on eBay - it’s a real ‘one from the past’ for me, when I first began collecting…. So, just thinking about whether to pull the trigger…? Totally a ‘heart’ decision! 😁👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector what sideshow piece are you looking for? I’m trying to get away from bigger pieces due to price and what companies are asking for now
I feel very similar, not a lot of things happening in the hobby in the last few months. To the point I dont have anything preordered. I started to get this nice feeling that maybe my collection is finally complete, because I dont want to sell anything.
Hey matey - likewise, I am now not looking to sell anything, so buying is now very restricted for me!!… And the very obvious lull is actually a help!… Cheers matey 👍🏻
Nice to see you back at it mate! Some companies shot themselves.. others continue to shoot themselves, in the foot with the crazy prices. P1 don't seem to relate to collectors at all when it comes to so many business decisions they make - unfortunately. It will still be some years before the average collector's salary rises to a point they can afford these 'new' (not so anymore) price points. Thank goodness for companies like Sideshow that are still trying to make collecting relatively affordable and fun.
Yes mate, you’re bang on!… I’ve begun looking more & more at Sideshow again, it also brings back many happy collecting memories from when I first entered the hobby…. It all felt so ‘different’ back then? So much better!… Cheers buddy 👍🏻
Great to see you back, love your takes on ALL aspects of collecting buddy. To chuck my two penneth into it, I think once your get your collection to near completion/run out of space, then the interest can start to wane (at least for me!). Sure, there's pieces that reignite your interest (for me it's the prime 1 t2 pieces and the Matrix piece). I think there's been a saturation of the same pieces again and again (marvel and the never ending dark Knight joker pieces) as well as huge costs now.....JND pieces look great (I love that new indy 2 piece) but cannot justify their huge prices. You're right, the collectors I also follow, seem to focus on the biggest pieces now, the 1:1 busts that you need an extension to house, which for everyday collectors (like me) are just a pipe dream. Anyway, rambling over!
@@davidmorris4391 hey cheers matey & thank you for your comment, which pretty much reflects how I’ve been feeling?… Yes, it was always going to be a bit of an issue once I reached a ‘full house’ and not wanting to sell anything?… Not quite there…. But it’s certainly looming ever closer!… Cheers bud, great to hear from you 👍🏻
100% agree. There was a 10 year period I bought every 1/6 that came out of weta. Got to 350 pieces, filled three rooms now I have sold 106 pieces in the last 2 years and bought maybe 10 in that time. Too many buy to sell guys now.
Cheers matey… I feel that we’ve appeared to have lost a lot of that middle ground range and now it’s all about the huge 1:1 scale silicone pieces that so few can afford to purchase… Can only hope we see a u-turn from statue companies soon…? Cheers matey 👍🏻
Good video. I agree. The high dollar pieces (while nice) and lack of pieces at a more affordable price point have changed the hobby. Less folks participating, a deterioration in the re-sell market, and the lack of companies releasing pieces on a regular basis have made the hobby a little stagnant and less exciting.
@@Iko_Iko_Statues hey there matey… Yes, I’ve had a little time to reflect, and whilst re-watching some old content from other statue channels, it became very apparent to me that we seem to have lost a large amount of the ‘good feeling’ and excitement that once existed within the hobby? Cheers matey 👍🏻
I have recently started to collect the 1/10 scale Weta Lord of the Rings collection, certainly they are not too expensive (around £120 - £170) but I was absolutely shocked with the poor quality of the painting on the figures themselves, I have had to repaint the faces and eyes on everyone of them so far, except Gollum and Radaghast (surprisingly good compared to others), my point is even at that price you expect a similarity to the product shown on Weta's website and that is the precise reason I won't buy a larger scale like Gil Galad, I have been so underwelmed with Weta, so disappointed. My Star Wars collection from Sideshow by comparison is absolutely fantastic, superb quality, Weta are very expensive on a par price-wise with Sideshow I would say for 1/6 scale, but the quality just isn't there with Weta, I think they should sell the stl files so we can print them ourselves because the paint jobs Weta are doing are really sub standard, don't get me started on the Gimli model, OMG horrendous.
Hi there - apologies for the delay in replying!… Yes, I’ve been looking recently at the SS SW pieces - some of them are really superb! It was a line I considered some years ago, but I was concerned that it was just too big for me to get in to?… so, I decided against it and moved slowly in to LotR and some movie monsters and bad guys I adore!.. Cheers for the superb comment matey 👍🏻
The one I pre ordered was the MGLA.PALADIN STUDIO, really love the crazy level of detailing in the armour, and the incredible ringwraith base design with the Fell Beast. It also has it's inaccuracies , but I love it for what it is and the art direction. Still wasn't an easy choice, prime 1 always do great work.
Ahh okay, yes that one did look very well done indeed, I was tempted to go for it myself, but I feel I’m maybe getting a little too many WK’s as it is?… Cheers matey 👍🏻
Yes, although… they’re extremely secretive and spend almost all their life under their trap door - so unless you wish to disturb them, you’re never going to see them…. So, a bit of a waste of money really?…
