I can’t believe she’s just 37 here and did those films when she was 36. I mean she doesn’t look older here than she was; I just mean she had accomplished a lot and was even co-directing a large theater company. I’m now of the same age she was during this interview and still nowhere near eloquent, accomplished or talented. What an amazing creature.
Thank God Woody Allen made the brilliant film Blue Jasmine, where Blanchett basically played an updated Blanche. One of the greatest performances on film.
very flat, uninsightful, somewhat uninformed vacuous press conference. you’d think after working on the film they would all have more insight; that things would be more thought out and they would have deeper answers to these rather simple questions. what a terrible bore of a press conference. one also gets the feeling none of them really want to be there
Cate could just live her privileged life (which she earned), but instead, works tire world-wide to improve people's lives. She is a gift to the world 🌎 💕 Thank you Cate!
Watching SUITS tonite my worry I you will have a big contender during 2024. Come up with. All formal series to compete on awards. You’re clever and smart. , get to it!!!❤
JULIA (1977) with Jane Fonda is my favorite film. But Vanessa Redgrave's performance as Julia shines in a film filled with great performances. Set in the 1930's, the themes of anti-fascism and friendship, art and theater are blended to perfection. It captures the plight of a writer, Lillian Hellman/Fonda, as she struggles with her first play. We see Hellman walking on the beach and in the background the turbulent ocean waves are churning like the thoughts in her head. The apogee is the tense, fraught scene between Hellman and Julia in a Berlin tavern as Hellman smuggles in cash for anti-Nazi activities, and while Fonda is excellent, Fonda herself said Redgrave's performance was on an entirely elevated level.
The only truth is that Dan Rather and Mary Mapes knowingly and deliberately put out a fake news story, got caught out, and CBS was forced to fire him. Even Walter Cronkite, who hated Bush, agreed they had to go.
Difficult choice. Amazing actress. Cate, fernanda montenegro (the best portuguese language actress - and she is not more recognized because she speaks portuguese and she works in Brasil), susan and Meryl … but Cate performance in Elizabeth is so strong and amazing.
Cate seems to get more interesting and better looking the older she gets. The Si perfume is lovely. Cate was a fantastic choice for the Si perfume ads.
I was lucky enough to see Cate as Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire when it was performed at the Sydney Theatre Company in 2009. One of the most powerful performances I have seen on stage.
