IBEW Inside journeyman wireman. Outdoors alot, trying to have a good adventure . I'm using my career as a union electrician to travel around the country to pursue my passion for whitetail deer hunting .
Have a friend who's always trying to get our company to become union ibew Atl. He still can't explain how this will help me out. I'm already master in 12 states and mostly do qualifier for other companies. I also don't get layoff slips. However I loved working prevailing wages on union jobs. Sweet sweet slomotion work.
It may not be for you. But for the other brother's and sisters who want to have union representation, make above normal wages, have better health care and get a big pension when they retire, and travel anywhere in the country for work, then those are the people I make these videos for! Some of you guys can do it differently in your own way or style. Just let it be known the term "layoff " is not a negative, all job s are completed on time and according to schedule. There is so much adventure waiting for us when the job is finished and we have time to relax for a while ( sometimes a few months for me to chase my passion and deer hunt) and then start a new job somewhere beautiful and fun. Remember, if you don't know this: I worked for 14 years with the same union contractor! ( Boring! ) It's time for my adventures to take me wherever I want and I'll take a union Job while I'm there! Best of luck out there my friend and tell the union friend of yours to keep spreading the brotherhood!! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
Man you inspire me I just talked to an older guy that was a plumber I’m thinking about going the electrician route, he said if he could do it over that’s what he would do, so yea man I’m freaking decided thank you
@@prophetleejames I hope you do ! So do this ,Google : " IBEW near me "and you will find a union hall for the electrician's you can call them and they will tell you what to do next. Thanks for watching brother 🙏
@@tsnaves I like 364 the best, but all the rest are a close 2nd up in Illinois so far. I'm going to try to stay in Illinois if it works out and maybe even southern Wisconsin. Thanks for watching brother 🙏 and good luck when you get topped out!
Do you ever think about living in a camper while you travel? I'm able to take my journeyman test in September, and have been thinking of travel work in afew years doing something. Do you have to be union to travel like you do? I live in a very rural area and have no experience with unions or their inner workings
A camper yes. But, I don't want to buy one anytime soon at these high prices. So, I'll just go with what I've got. That's great with the test coming up soon. If you are non- union you can travel around with a temp agency to the areas that pay the most in places you like to visit or live near . My advice is to call an IBEW union hall near where you live now and find out more information about the IBEW program and how to join up by organizing in or going through the apprenticeship program according to your current skill set. More money and benefits and pension , retirement, vacation fund and education. Just so much more opportunities with the IBEW and that's why I make these videos. What state or city are you in or near? Thanks for watching brother 🙏
@@wallygatorfilmsoutdoors1506 I'm in Northern Michigan near Cadillac. I think there is an IBEW further north in traverse city. I have always wanted to travel but figured I'd have to find something else to do, your videos are showing me I can travel, see the country while doing electrical work! My dad is an electrician and that's what I did from the time I could gelp until I was 19. I went to a tech school to be a heavy diesel tech which I did for 16 years. I went back to electrical work 4.5 years ago and like it much better than wrenching! Thanks for the videos I'll keep watching!
Congratulations 👏! Your doing a good thing by hitting the road early in your career my friend. Keep following your dreams and make some money while you're out there! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
I'm not even an electrician, I actually work as a software engineer, but RU-vid recommended your channel to me. Probably because I always watch videos about electricity and energy. Just wanted to say thanks for making these videos. Before going with software engineering I was heavily considering the electrician path, so it's interesting to see what life is like for a traveling inside wireman.
Thanks bro! You have helped me tremendously. Love deer hunting so started traveling to see more deer besides in Florida where they are small and not very many. I am in Tennessee right now getting ready for this hot velvet Hunt. I have some very good deer on camera. I wish I had your direct number Brother or another way to get a hold of you easier to message, I have a few questions concerning coming up that way to work after I take a month or so off to Hunt.
Cool deal , great to hear. You can send me a friend request on Facebook ( Brian Wallace (wally) from Birmingham Alabama and we can go from there. What is your name so I'll know who to look for?
Howdy Wally, I stumbled on your channel by sheer accident. But I’m an 18yr old right now who’s debating going to trade school to become an electrician. I was planning on going to college, but I don’t believe the student debt among other reasons makes it worth the time to go. Is there any advice or suggestions you have for someone who’s young and thinking about entering the trades?
Hello 👋, I attended 1 year of college right after highschool and then got in the trade. Study up on all the trades and follow the one that inspires you the most. What trade will get you out of bed in the morning to go to work? What trade has a school near where you want to live while you get started? Now if you want to become an electrician, you can join the I.B.E.W and pay zero for the schooling they send you to , (just pay for books) . I can't speak for the other trades , I'll say any union trade is better than non- union. After you become a journey man you can keep on going with it and become a contractor and run you own shop! The sky is the limit my friend. Google this :" IBEW near me" to find a union apprenticeship near you ! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
@@wallygatorfilmsoutdoors1506 Thanks for the reply dude, right now I'm looking at either plumbing or electrician for my trade, they seem to be the highest paying overall and I personally love the idea of understanding how electricity works and being able to put it into practical use. I also love the idea of actually being able to SEE my work instead of my "work" being a bunch of numbers on a spreadsheet. My biggest nightmare atm is going to college and ending up with either a useless degree or ending up as a paper pusher in a cubicle. Mind if I ask why unions are better than non-unions? I grew up in a very conservative family who only shit talks unions so I'd love to hear a union workers perspective. Thank you so much for your time, and do you have any career tips you'd give to a young man who's starting fresh in my electrician career?
Thanks, I'm getting him shoulder mounted and also shoulder mounting the Illinois buck I got this year. I made a video on the Illinois buck also called "tramping public land for a buck" check it out if you want. Thanks for watching brother 🙏
No, I argued with the quality control guy about this till he took me through the plant and showed me one that fell apart and was cautioned taped off the area till they fixed it.now I know better. Thanks for the input brother
Yo brother! Noah outta 113 Colorado Springs. Trampin around in my big van. We met at 3rivers Morris job in 176. I signed a few Illionois books a few weeks ago, including 364. Maybe I'll see you out there. Enjoy the videos!
Good deal, I'm currently in a cheap air BNB $400 a month 10 min from job. So, I'm gonna try and stick around the Facebook job for a while! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
When you are driving up through Canada there are a lot of government camp grounds and they are well marked with signs. They charge something like $10 Canadian for a spot, just leave the money in a envelope at the check in billboard. They are all well maintained with a firepit and a picnic table. It took me 5 days to get from Anchorage to Washington. It was a beautiful drive and I hope to make a return trip someday, but not for work unless they are paying at least $200 a day incentive pay. The work, money, and livelihood is far better in the lower 48.
Love your videos brotha!!!!! Local 80 working outta local 553 currently. Been a fan for over a year now!!!! Definitely would love to see an alaska video!!!!
Man, surely those panels could rip off with the right amount of wind, right, with the way those are mounted? Here in Australia, there's certain clamp zones on panels, based off manufacturers specifications (percentage of the panel size). In high wind areas, we typically install REC panels which are rated for high winds and have 2 aluminium bars on the back to brace them. You think with a wind and solar farm, there would be a considerable amount of high winds in the area, and would need to be accounted for? In saying that, if they are solid, thats pretty fkn cool. Also great job! I know how much hard work it takes doing solar
Yep, we lost about a dozen in a bad storm before they were finished, the engineers showed us how once completed the panels were programmed to tilt into the wind to become areodynamic to avoid damage. Thanks for watching brother 🙏 what part of Australia?
I always Google IBEW in the area I want to travel to and work in, then I call the union hall and speak to dispatch and he'll tell me what the work outlook is for them and the job line phone # to call later that evening to hear the job calls for the next day.thanks for watching brother
