The West Cork Chamber Music Festival is one of the most prestigious chamber festivals in Ireland and indeed Europe. The 2024 festival runs between Friday 28th June and Sunday 7th July. The programme is available here from December 2023: westcorkmusic.ie/CMFProgramme.
The opening concert will be held at Bantry House at 8pm and the intervening week is packed with concerts and performances every day. There are free workshops for young composers at St. Brendan's Hall, Gala concerts most evenings at Bantry House and coffee time concerts at St. Brendan's Church.
In short, if you are a lover of chamber music, or an aspiring orchestra performer, this is the only place to be in Ireland for the 10 days of the festival, with the final gala performance on 7th July at Bantry House the icing on the cake.
The intimate performances take place in St. Brendan's Church, set in the heart of Bantry, and in Bantry House, one of Ireland's most striking 18th-century mansions, overlooking Bantry Bay.
