Where did you get the staple kit?
@myn76
@myn76 4 месяца назад
The boat came with four staples. Those originals ran from port to starboard across the factory transom. We had a local fabricator in West Palm Beach make two additional staples and new cups to mount all six staples on the new platform. The two additional staples are for the sides of the new platform. Sorry for the slow reply.

I love it. Everything that I hoped it would be. If we are at anchor (which is most of the time) the Egret sits there overnight. During the day, the five extra feet is like having a little marina/dock.

@@myn76 they should all have one! How difficult was it to fit? What is the cost of retrofitting something like this? What is its weight limit? under what circumstances would you not carry the Dinghy on the back?
@myn76
@myn76 Год назад
The lift / platform was built and installed by Sea Lift in Florida. They are OEM for companies including Hinkley, Sea Ray, etc. for this application they did a custom design. It is 60” long, 18.5’ wide (our boat is 21’ wide), and all weighs about 3,500lbs. That weight includes the fiberglass platform and the metal lifting mechanism. In the full up position it is 12” above and 12” over the boats integrated swim step. So in the up position it is only 48” behind the boat and is an additional 12” above the water. We did this because of concern with following seas. Sea Lift did the install which required a haul out and the use of the yards crane. The lifting capacity is 2,500lbs. We have three tenders aboard. 1) Egret 189 flats boat with a 22’ LOA including the tilted motor 2) Walker Bay 15’ inflatable 3) 10’ inflatable. We never tow a boat underway. We ride with the big tenders on the bow and the small one out back on the platform. When we anchor we typically launch the big tender and put the small tender in its place on the bow. We then use the lift to get the big tender safely secured out of the water overnight without having to put it on the bow. It is much easier and I can do it myself as opposed to lifting the boat on the bow with the crane which requires my wife to help. The investment was $65k plus haul out. Well worth it for us based on the way we use the boat and the tenders we carry.
@ChristopherGrindlay
@ChristopherGrindlay Год назад
@Kevin Massey wow lots of surprises in your comments. Like the size of it, its lifting capacity, and the cost! It would look better if the 65 thousand dollars was massaged into the original price of the boat when it was new

For sure on the headsets. We have them but mainly use them when docking or anchoring the big boat. When we launch the tender we are close enough to hear each other. Thanks for watching.

Incredible. The two of you did a fantastic job. As an owner of a Fleming 65: kudos. I do have to say that launching from the bow and having to jump into the tender from a ladder is a dangerous procedure. Passing wakes, wind and currents only increase the danger. Again, terrific teamwork and attention to detail. We were anchored near where you filmed just two weeks ago.
@myn76
@myn76 2 года назад
Thanks Trevor. We love having the boats up front but I agree with you that climbing down the ladder is dangerous. We were loading the Egret back aboard at Shroud Cay in 2021 and a large center console from a charter boat hit us with a big wake after we had already clipped the bridle to the crane. We’re more aware of our surroundings now and launch the inflatable if conditions are bad. I still have to climb the ladder though. I now always wear a life jacket and wear shoes.

Cool video. How much oil does the main engine take for an oil change? Also, do you do oil changes under way with the wing powering the boat, or do you wait until you are in port or at anchor? Thank you and be safe.
@myn76
@myn76 2 года назад
The main takes about 10 gallons. And we do not change oil underway or stop to change oil. We were advised that if we are underway when an oil change is due that we should wait until the next time we shut the engine off. So, if we have 50 more hours underway then we would keep going. I generally plan for this though and would change the oil early if we were close.

What happens to used oil ? can it be recycled/filtered for reuse ?
@myn76
@myn76 2 года назад
We store the used oil in a 65 gallon tank on board. When new oil is pumped from buckets to the new oil tank we then pump the used oil into those empty buckets. When we are in Florida we take the used oil to the county hazardous waste drop off. I believe they then recycle it.

Some things I don't like , but the one thing that beats most others in the size is Nordhavn . they plan for and installs a on deck day head and it's at the wheelhouse . Just think , middle of the night and you got to go and everyone else is napping , so without running down two flights of stairs , you can . I just never understand some builders . They build a 5 mil. boat , and no ondeck dayhead .

@@myn76 Thanks for the answer. I had at first thought this was another boat(Eliana, another 76) but as I watched the video I noticed the inside was similar but not the same. Then it occurred to me that it could have went through a refit and updated comforts so had to ask anyway to make sure. Its a nice one for sure but if I ever get a shot at one, it will have to be a FPH and the ability to walk completely around the boat while on water. I lose width in the saloon but my time will spent more outside then in. Thanks again for the reply and info.
