Thank you for this video. It brought back many memories of my trip up Kilimanjaro in 1969 (on the same route). The huts were far more primitive then, and the meals simpler, but the amazing guides and the physical effort of the climb were just as you portrayed. In our group of 10 climbers, 2 had to turn back before the last push to the summit, because of altitude sickness. I recall the huge effort of just putting one foot in from the other as I got to the summit. The oxygen level at that altitude is half that at sea level. What a great experience it was - so glad I was able to do it!
My wife and I drove through Bologna on our way to Firenze so we only spent less than a day here. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of food. Amazing foodie place.
Lovely video! When did you go and who did you do the balloon trip with? Is it ok to book when you arrive and what price/ Can you pay with credit card? What amount of tip is needed over the balloon cost? Sorry about all the questions!
Not the poster, but I was just in Serengeti and 2 people from our group did the hot air balloon. It was July peak season so they booked well in advance when they booked the tour, it was $500pp with pick up and breakfast afterwards. Another guy did it for $425 in Maasai Mara in late June, booked the day before
We did exactly the same trip with Vendelin, Makere, Asha and Raphael! Excellent video and so cool to see the mountain in totally different conditions to how it was for us. Are you planning any other high altitude trips? I quite fancy Peak Lenin in Kyrgyzstan - just that touch higher than Aconcagua.
