Tekken 7 is no longer bad anymore, because the series somehow got even worse. Tekken 8 is hands down the WORST game of 2024 for me. It is so fucking bad, the heat mechanic alone takes the concept of skill and flushes it down the fucking toilet. It's not just the character balance, it's moreso gameplay balance, which there's hardly any. The core of Tekken is gimped and pussified because of Heat, Power Crush, Rage Arts, and of course one button Rage Drives.

The only problem of modern fighting games are the DLC. I miss unlocking new characters just by playing the game.

Fighting games have become easier? I think they have become even more loaded with mechanics and stuff I don't want to learn just to have some simplistic 1 on 1 fun. Even players themselves have become so analytical, looking down at every single frame availanle. I remember when playing with friends on a couch was just about havng great fun and not pre-analysing a fighting game just by looking at some demo footage.

well one, hundreds of comments popped up on my video without notifications, especially comments that came out months after the video released. and most of the comments you’re reading are from people who leave insulting comments while trying to critique. majority of the responses i left are positive even if they’re disagreeing with my points. i respond positively to constructive criticism, not to constructive stupidity. Like your comment for expample, nothing insulting about what you’re saying so there’s no need for me to respond with any nastiness. Do anything for the public to see that gains traction and you’ll understand.

another channel named kizzy kay made the same video as me with the same title and very similar points a few months after this that i am SO GLAD he made since it was another person with the same frame of thinking as me. but his video got more positive feedback, wanna know why? he has a fanbase plus he has merit. It’s the reality of being a small content creator and it doesn’t make me mad or sad. Had i had a bigger fanbase and posted this, you’d more than likely see this video circulate around at the time this was posted.

I gotta give you credit for the Tekken portion of this video because I haven't laughed this hard in ages. I know I'm quite late but DAMN, some of the things you were saying had me pinching myself to see if I was having some kind of fever dream. - "Everyone in the cast can juggle each other" that's called the combo system - "Wall carry specific combos don't really matter" good. I'm glad I get to see more interesting looking combos that still have good wall carry, instead of "Launch, move, dash-jab, dash-jab, dash-jab, dash-jab" until we reach the wall - Hopkick is a "get out of jail free card"? Yeah man, I also remember when Arslan Ash won Evo because he kept doing hopkick over and over until Knee threw his stick and started to cry Also the clip being Josie doing a CH launcher (not even talking about it not being a hopkick) is really funny because in that moment, she isn't being pressured or anything like that, just swinging with ff4. Where's the jail she used it to get out of? - "All dlc characters are great examples of you not having to think about your decisions anymore" he said with Lei on screen, the character with over 10 different stances and the most moves in the game... luh mao

You don't talk about how movement was nerfed, why hopkicks are supposedly so good or what makes dlc characters so dumb. You just say they are and then move on. Analysis hinges on explanation man

I do agree that the auto combos in DBFZ can be annoying When I started playing the game I was using those constantly and when I look back at that now, I wish is started actually experimenting with characters from the start, because it made it feel like all the characters worked the same. Like I could grab any character and I would be doing the same thing Then I found my team which consists of Frieza, Videl and Gogeta and they are pretty fun to play I know this is probably off of the point, but in fighting games it's important you find the characters that you're good with as well as finding what character you're bad with Like I found I'm a pretty terrible Goku Black player, but I'd call myself a pretty decent Videl player

Street fighter 4 is my favorite, but so many cheaters, tekken is a slop game I hate it, soul caliber was my 2nd favorite but now i love blazblue.

I only have 1 issue it’s the mention of the jump startup being near universal being a bad thing. In my personal opinion, I actually like the change because in melee it can make certain tech painful to learn with multiple characters due to the jump startup difference. (Jump cancel grab and wavedashing) But even that is a tiny deal to how much it screws over bowser in the air game as he is incredibly bad partially because of his prejump frames being way longer than anyone else’s. (7 frames) Also the jump squat is no longer universal (Kazuya) but that might be the videos date*. I do agree with the combo stuff and buffer system stuff*. (although melee’s nonexistent buffer system isn’t a good thing either, there is a good middle ground)

The real problem with fighting games is that the extremists/tryhards/pros think the world revolves around them and they have the loudest voices at this point. They turn ppl off from getting into fighting games because they make it feel like you have to dedicate your life to being good at fighting games competitively or you're not playing the games correctly.

you know i have it in my script to talk about " lack of features (tutorial, custimization, sometimes story, arcade mode etc.) " this is literally what it says in there lol. idk how it didn't make it into the final cut LMAOOO. but trust me I feel the lack of singleplayer content is a problem. BUT since this video games like KOF15 and SF6 literally proves my point of this video and FIXES AND I MEAN FIXES a lot of these problems.

I apologize for the wall of text, but i feel it's necessary to get the point across. The point, shortened, is "i agree that simplifying games for newer players is bad.*" don't feel like you have to read this entire thing, but do know that i attempt to word my reasoning as expertly as possible my first fighting game that i got into was the power rangers "battle for the grid" game that came out in like '19. i was a complete noob who'd never successfully done a quarter circle forward fireball, and i thought that the buy-in of fighting games with the near expectation of using a fightstick was daunting. Battle for the grid, which I'll readily admit is incredibly simple, was an incredible first-step into 2D fighting games, personally. I now play Zato-1 in GG:S (pretty decently, if i do say so myself {though i just started, am entirely unused to roman cancels, and am only floor 8}), and i am loving the game for what it is. i think the easier fighting game allowed me to go "ok, fighting games arent all that bad," and start learning the more complex stuff without fear that I'll always be outclassed. in my case, i understand the appeal of wanting to make an "easier" game to get more people to play it. that said, i certainly understand the concern that a franchise that you love is being dumbed down for newer audiences. Mine was a unique experience; it is a new game that nobody really has any attachments to - to my understanding it had no former gameplay establishments to feel obligated to - and could make the risk of being much more straightforward than most fighting games by virtue of not having any fans that would be alienated by arbitrarily removing certain things. I also swapped games later when i was more comfortable with the basics of the franchise, so it wasn't any specific franchise or their fans who had to suffer for my sake. I think Elden Ring, to risk changing genres and risk the ire of the internet at large, is a perfect example of the worst of what "appealing to new players" can offer. while it's certainly incredible in many aspects and insanely innovative in others, it falls rather flat in one of the genre staples - bosses. Elden Ring's bosses are a mess of unfair and unfun design, unfitting of From's near-perfect recent catalogue. They counter you attacking their opening, often utterly invalidate entire builds, can remove openings arbitrarily by making distance, are often entirely unreactable, have hitboxes that linger too long and AOEs that hit far too hard, and are generally considered one of the worst parts of this game in all but aesthetic and lore. i believe the cause of this is simple: spirit summons and easy player summoning. the game establishes before the first boss that summoning is expected of you, by giving you a free summon the one time. it places a summoning pool, used for summoning players, directly before the first miniboss (which suffers many of the above issues), and the first merchant sells the recipe for making player-summon items which are incredibly cheap on their own. In other words, the movesets of the bosses are no longer designed for a single person, but are now designed for multiple players or entities on your team. Summoning players (and to a slightly lesser or much greater extent depending on the specific summon, spirit summons) is often considered the "easy mode" of the game, and given then that the game so heavily incentivizes you to play on "easy mode" and has to design around it, the case for "easy mode ruined Elden Ring's bosses" is incredibly strong. there are other issues born of incentivizing this "easy mode," too. Invasions and Multiplayer are in a terrible state at the moment, and the issues can all be traced back to incentivizing player summons to the highest degree. in Dark Souls 3, the "summoning item" was called "Embers." This would give you a buff, heal you to full, allow you to summon other players, but would also allow other players to "invade" you, which was the downside. it was also rather rare, which incentivized invasions from players who otherwise wouldn't invade but needed the embers. in this way, it would be an excellent experience for both host and invader - the invaders would often get solo hosts who either just killed a boss or wanted the buff, and co-op players and hosts wouldn't get sweats and tryhards who just love the PvP for the sake of it every 10 minutes. also, the invasions were spread across the entirety of the community, instead of just the small minority of players who play co-op. in Elden Ring, "Embers" are split into two items: one for the summoning, and one for the buffs. the summoning item, the only relevant item for the purposes of this explanation, is incredibly abundant. you get dozens of the required items to craft them just by mashing X on your controller during normal play and also in the first area of the game and don't really have any downsides to use. You'll never run out of these, and it's incredibly easy to get more if you somehow do. that said, they also aren't tied to any bonuses except summoning. there is literally 0 reason for a solo player to ever open their game to PvP except for the intrinsic one. the only reward you get for using a different item to open yourself up to invasions is a single summoning item - not even the half of "embers" that gives the buff - and those are so abundant it's faster to find them on foot. the abundance and lack of gameplay anchoring of summoning has a few issues here: 1: co-op players get invaded far more often than is actually fun. the invasions arent split between solo and co-op players, and therefore only co-op players have to suffer being invaded (which is an worse experience for both) 2: it incentivizes the worst of the invaders and summons. another F tier design choice is having no level cap for player summons, and only having a flimsily made health-and-damage scaling system for literally max players helping out new players. given that literally maxed out players can fight invaders without the extra weight of having to actually play through the entire game weakened, this heavily incentivizes the invaders to complete the game and come back to the first areas with maxed out gear and consumables but a technically low level, in order to just get an even playing ground with the absolute behemoths playing PvP. Even this isn't really fair, as the higher levelled summons can use spells that the invaders cant, and also have a higher FP pool. there are other things regarding online play being made worse by incentivizing "easy mode,", but im getting tired of typing and the point is already made. in other words, "accessibility" ruined Elden Ring. i firmly believe that, had Miyazaki held to his beliefs, Elden Ring would be the masterpiece that it deserves to be.

My disagreement really is for Street Fighter 5 the complaints you made don't make it necessarily easier for newer players to pick up, play and be awesome at it. It's so difficult to actually get people into fighting games because it's not like any other game genre really.. imo the games need to have a pick up and play accessibility to them. I can't tell you the amount of people I've known in that moment where you're trying to encourage them but telling somebody basically they'll have to get their shit stuffed in a thousand times before they'll be slightly competent (not even decent) at the game - You lose those people. Fighting games can't grow if we lose more people than we gain.

I'm gonna say this the biggest point is the pvp matches with the players modding hacking and cheating their way through just for some dumb rewards that dont really do anything for them if they already have everything if anything it's not shinobi striker anymore its shinobi modder or hacker or cheater basically saying that's the majority of the players and it needs to be taken down

what absolutely kills ultimate for me is the movement. no wavedashing, wavelanding, or l cancelling makes it feel like im playing in slow motion. like i'm swimming through peanut butter every time i move in the air. the ledge is so fucking lame and uninteresting. why can i grab the ledge from a mile away, facing backwards, when someone else has already grabbed it, after getting launched to the edge of the blastzone? to me, ultimate is only fun if i'm plaing with 8 people on a huge dumb stage. not really surprising because the game is intended to be a party game. i know melee is also a party game but jesus at least it's a party game with depth and interesting mechanics.

Here 2 years late and just wanted to say: buffer system in Smash Ultimate has hurt me more than it has helped. I've tried to roll through several ground combos (cough Kazuya cough) and ended up SDing because the game kept an airdodge in for me seven years after I first input it
