@@HaleefI May be operational cost exceeding the revenue. Instead of the Rail bus, they can run 3 coach self propelling engine train and it will fetch more revenue especially in crowded routes
One CGR has to do is to change the design of the front face, then it gives attractive look also, CGR can do the modification with the existing facilities. CGR has a un utilized human talents and it is a big waste. (One waste out of the ten wastes)
In other countries they have rail busses. They can drive on the road as well as on the train tracks. We should have similar vehicles in Sri lanka becuse many of the tracks are not exactly high speed rail tracks to begin with.
This is most wonderful! I now realize this is powered by its very own regular diesel engine. Wonder what running on tracks does to its fuel efficiency.
@@empatheticgrinch Yep, as per the above answer from Chaminda, the mileage is higher, and the fuel consumption is better than the standard bus on tires on the road, only a bit more fuel is needed in order to pick up speed after it starts from a halt, afterwards it rolls smooth.
@@HaleefI but what about the weight...isn't it heavier than the regular bus...and wont that effect the overall performance and efficiency...just asking out of curiosity
Same, unfortunate I couldn't record it because most of it was happening around 1-4am in the morning. The work hasn't finished, so they should come back next week or so. I will try to record and upload it then.
Yeah, true. A few years back they did run an air conditioned first class compartment or sometimes an observation compartment on the train 8050/8051, but it was removed afterwards. Also noticed that if they send an observation car in that run, they don't turn it on the turntable as well, maybe due to time constraints.
I wish they could bring that back to ruhunu kumari and extend the service from beliatta to point Pedro and beliatta to badulla it will be good for tourism and trade to
Oh, that's unfortunate. I haven't seen it run on passenger or freight turn as well. Just on this day only. But it was the 8050 today and returned back to Colombo light loco instead of 8051. Was stabled at Aluthgama for sometime before proceeding to Colombo. I think it had broken its' short hood horn..
@@HaleefI yes, right. I was waiting for him with 8039 train, but there was 843 engine instead. 8051 train was cancelled today, 8053 also. Smth strange.
Hi, bro! Is the Class M5 locomotive still being used in the mainline railway or has the SLR taken the Class M5 locomotives for the coastline railway permanently?
Yes. I came on the train before I got down to film it departing out. Absolutely disgusting interior. The windows weren't opening at all and seats and walls were all dirty. Nothing swept inside or even wiped. Hands all mucky..
