So cool! We went through a similar process - did a rough prototype in 2022 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BTlndYM_WGU.html) and then eventually made it a full portable device: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GXUNBG6H1gc.html

I have tested a similar technique with chess pattern pixel by pixel 3840x2160 points. The pattern was shown at 4K display (BENQ EW3270U) and shot with BMPCC 4K camera with Helios 44-2 lens and M42-MFT adapter (f stops should be chosen around f/4-f/8 maximize resolving power and contrast). The camera was aligned on a tripod to achieve pixel to pixel coincidence as close as possible. Result is extremely distinct: warm air from human hand is easily visualized. In order to achieve the best possible results one should pay attention to eliminate any open windows, excessive heat sources and fans close to the setup.

@stoppi
@stoppi 11 дней назад
@@dadasagayev Hallo! Sehr guter Einwand.

@stoppi
@stoppi 26 дней назад
Hallo! Viel Erfolg beim Projekt

Is americium button from smoke detektor enough to be used as Alpha source here? Can i turn thorium from gas lantern filament into uranium using this setup and how long does it take?
@stoppi
@stoppi 29 дней назад
Hello! The activity from americium buttons are way too low (only 0.7 microcurie). My polonium source has more than 700 times that activity and only with this source there is a measurable increase with my setup.
@rafalg.6901
@rafalg.6901 29 дней назад

@@rafalg.6901 I don't have dosis-values but my Geiger counter got into saturation (200000 cpm) for over a year after buy and polonium has a half live of around 140 days. Therefore from the counts the dosis must have been in the mSv/h range but usually the dosis is only for gamma emitter...

may be a linear polarizer after the lamp could help to increase the contrast. my colleagues have a commercial zeeman spectrometer for mercury detection in air. It works with the 254 nm UV line from an electrodeless capilary lamp. There is a permanent magnet and electrooptic polariser that is modulated and lock-in dete ction used.

Unfortunately, there is something that needs to be discounted, the flame will contain at least some ionised components, since these are charged particles travelling in a magnetic field, they will deflect, this will alter the flame, and the optical effects of it, in a much more basic way.
@computermaster360

Precisely. But you should be able to see this when looking directly at the flame, and it does not seem to be moving or chaning shape much at 8:01.

Nice to see this classic experiment. I did something similar in the 1980s with a magnetic field around an argon plasma tube laser I built, I thought I was increasing the efficiency of the lasing until I looked at the specral lines and realized I was doing a zeeman experiment instead. What was nice was it was a way to tune the output for particular wavelengths in the argon laser etc.

Nett!!!

I've never seen this demonstrated before! Presumably this works because the gamma energy is so low, basically in the x-ray region and so the interatomic distances are comparable to the wavelength, whereas with other gamma sources the waves would be way too short. Maybe you can demonstrate Mossbauer effect in a future video!

I like your vids. Suggest for this one it needs a stepper motor to lower the magnet, take a force measurement, repeat. Also, the bottom magnet should be large, and 'probe' magnet small. This allow better comparidon to a theoretical model of one magnet in the uniform field of another
