I've only watched the first 2 mins. of this vid. and he's already come up with so much rubbish I'm not watching the rest. For instance, the Manor Estate was built between 1957 and 1959 while the gangs he mentions were active in the 1920s. The Manor did have a bad reputation during the 1970s/80s but has lost this in the last 20 years or so. Even when it gad a bad reputation it was never a no go area or anything like that and it was safe to walk through. I don't know what other errors or deliberate misinformation is in the rest of the video but I would advise anyone to take any derogatory remarks that he makes with a large pinch of salt.
Hi mate, great video, just have a few questions as I’m looking at going Font Romeu for 4 weeks. How much was it to use the track? And what running routes did you find yourself doing whilst you were over there?
Hi. Can't remember how much it was to use the track but not much. You can pretty much run anywhere around the area. font is about 1800 m elevation but if you’ve got a vehicle you can go down to Lake Matamale which is 1500 m and it’s really good for 10 and long runs
The Mull of Galloway is my most favourite place in the whole of Scotland. Beautiful scenery, friendly people and some of the best fishing in the UK. Luce Bay is a nursery area and closed to netting of any kind. The range of fish is amazing from gurnards up to some truly big sharks. It's one of the very few places I've caught spudog, a small, primative shark member with spines on its dorsal fins, a form which goes back millions of years. The water is usually clear which enables you to explore the rocky coves and watch fish going about their lives. Well worth a visit and exploring!
Hello I fort u was coming back to do more videos I missed your video hope you can do a video to say u coming back or to say it's the end no more videos Wen like to know what is happening thanks 👍
Hi I’ve got a 2017 crafter and was wondering if I could just undo the 4 bolts holding the double seat down and just turn the seat around facing the living space instead of buying the double swivel base ? Thanks
@@TravelwithGaryandAmika People always used to moan about the Welsh being inhospitable - never found anyone like that. If anything they've gone out of their way to help ! Maybe I'll stick to Wales. Lechyd da !
Hey, I'm just going to run my super efficient 12v domestic 35L compressor fridge justing the flag lighter plug and the odd 240 appliance, maximum 1000 watts for short periods. Does it have a lead for charging it in the van's 12v lighter socket when driving?
But apparently using the flag lighter is not as efficient as if you had a system installed with a relay and booster. I wanted to avoid installing all that by buying the blueitti and covering the roof in panels. I'll only be getting a trickle charge (I think it's called) while driving....pity... Any comments anyone?
@@dmoore4372yea, I’ve been running this BLUETTI model for 2years now and after only getting about 80w in by charging with the 12v, I upgraded with a 1000w DC to AC inverter from the car battery. I have extended the battery capacity with 2 230b. Despite having 950w of solar on the roof, actual - max 700w in, you will need another way to charge when you have poor conditions. Can’t let the food in the fridge spoil.
Long time since your last video Gary.....although with the massive changes to your personal life and circumstances I can understand why. Hope to see you back on here at some stage, but if not, good luck and thanks for the vids and sharing your adventures 👍
Most tourists go in the summer...not realizing Scottish highlands is more stunnung in the off seasons....I lived in Aviemore and the real tourists come in the winter...cheaper...quieter..and way more beautiful...nature at its finest...get a 4 wheel drive van in ther off season and it will be like Scotland belongs to you...And who was the bright spark who decided to tell the whole world about the NC500 without firt putting enough amenities to accomodate everyone like extra official campsites which could be made to be mandatory...just sayin
hi gary i love the finish of the van , what is the finish of the body paint that you went with??? eg matt, satin or gloss??? thanks in advance buddy 👌👌
Fucking piss myself laughing. 😂 I'm a local. There's nothing risky at all about stopping overnight in a van in that area. Talk about over stating the risk. 😂 And as for "camping", you're in a locked metal box you daft twat. 😂
The Estate is now relatively speaking a better area now. Lots of homes have been knocked down now. I would say the Parson Cross Estate is worse now. Even that has improved. The Estate in the 70-90s was rough. Very rough. Lots of crime. Lots.of deprivation. But there was a good community on the Manor. Many people lived there all their lives. Helped each other out and in some ways this felt pleasant to live there. I like the Manor people. Straight, working class salt if the earth types.
Oh and yes they were very tight....always stuck together when there was trouble. I remember when the council thought it fit to put Somalis in the flats years ago. They started causing trouble, but the manor lads terrorised them, so they had to move them out. Don't know about things now. Times have changed.
I lived on the Manor from 1970-2005 and my mum lived there till 2016. The reason there's so much new housing is that in the 80's, much of the estate was found to have been built using defective mortar, so big swathes of houses were demolished. I remember a rolling wave of demolition going through The Manor from about 1984 and a wave of rebuilding ending in about 1990.
I lived in one of those houses, Harborough Ave, until 1986. We were one of the last houses standing on our street, it was like a bombsite back then. I didn't know that about the bad mortar but when I was only 13 at the time. I just knew the houses were being demolished and my mum got a choice of where she wanted to relocate to.
I’m Scottish and have toured Scotland for years. I travel by motorbike. I find the problem is mostly due to inexperienced camper van drivers who just don’t care. They hog the road, park dangerously and leave waste everywhere they go.
