Oh my gosh! Those shrubs are gorgeous and instant impact! It totally made up for taking all the flowers out! lol Good job on the video, Jason! And good job saving a bouquet for Janie! :)
Y’all have to remember that Jason is the perfectionist Jason you doing an awesome job. You just have the most joyous smile. Janie is a very lucky young lady.
Love Jason's videos. Love the tree planting. Can you guys show Robbie's willow tree soon. In the beginning it looked sad and wasn't growing up till you guys staked it differently. I've caught glimpses of it and looked like it was filling out nicely.
I think the sunflowers were a little tall they blocked other plants site lines behind them. I would do a different lower plant and maybe put those somewhere else next year. I move my plants around all the time.
Oh my goodness Jason - that hardpan soil is killer - I completely sympathize with anyone having to deal with that problem! We have it throughout our yard (almost 2 acres) and have tried to dig in several spots to plant things, with no success - feels like we hit solid concrete less than an inch below the ‘grass’ (weeds) that grows in it! Guess we’ll have to get a couple truckloads of compost/topsoil/wood chips hauled in to ‘fix’ the problem! The Magnolia is gonna be beautiful - really looking forward to seeing your center island come together over time!
Nice job Jason. Planting that tree was very difficult! I think you need some work boots to help you with that digging. With all the trees you have to put in, you might need more support for your feet with digging those holes! It's going to be a lot of work! 😀😀
Good job. I live in South Carolina. I have a 30 + ft. Magnolia in our front year. Smells amazing when in blooming. We use the leaves for decorating. You will love yours.
Will good morning jason and monty I think I can officially say jason has caught the Gardening bug. Very nice job tree looks wonderful you are such a man for janey. As always monte is on the jobs scoping everything out for you.he probably thinks he has the greatest parents they like to dig too. Janey will be so surprised happy and thankful. Have a blessed day the Oklahoma gardener.😊
Yee Haw - this Southern Girl (N. Atlanta) loves a magnolia in a garden ... and this one has the perfect home with plenty of room to grow !!! I adore the lemony fragrance that fills the air when they are blooming. I know how hard it is to pull those plants/flowers - but wow, what a difference it makes - neat & tidy and, as you said, ready for the next season. Well done Jason !!!
Good morning. Jason did a great job both videoing and explaining the steps in both clearing and planting. Yes, Jason when it comes to cleaning up an area and there are still pretty and beautiful flowers it is hard to pull how ever you did the right thing by putting them in a vase to enjoy. Awesome job. Enjoy the rest of the day.
Hi Jason . Well done . The magnola tree looks amazing in this place . I have it in my garden it pretty tree . Greetings to Janey and have a wonderful day .🌺🌻🌺
We just planted the same tree! Little Gem. I’ve always wanted one. My husband said while at the Nursery, gee, this tree looks a little sad, he didn’t realize the underneath of its leaves are brown. LOL. Our ground is as hard as yours, I’m certain. We always cup a spot and soak for several hours first. 😊. Our tree has been in the ground for two weeks and it never shocked, looks super good in its spot. I’m really happy you guys got such a wonderful selection of trees for your new property. Well Done!! It’s supposed to be an evergreen tree I think.
Jason, you are great in front of the camera! Wow, the magnolia looks fantastic where you placed it! Every single thing you and Janey are doing is making an enormously positive difference. Congrats on all of your very hard work and all of the tremendous amount of planning behind it!
Its such a good idea to leave the roots of all your plants IN THE GROUND!!! THEY WILL DECOMPOSE and feed the soil in addition to helping condition it. An earlier comment mentioned using the flower stalks in the garden as well. Shred, chip or mow over them and leave on the ground as green mulch. Its sooooooo good for the soil! You are losing so much goodness when you haul them off....
Wonder if they have to pull and remove because they are such a warm climate and they would all return and self seed if left and they have different plan for plants in that area?
Perfect!!! That tree placement is awesome. Jason, your love of gardening is showing through, good job. Wish I was your neighbor to hang over the fence & watch you guys at work, but then I wouldn't get anything done on my side.......lol.....so I am content to watch your vids each a.m. & get the inspo. I need to get in my garden.
Jason I was wondering if your neighbors might allow you to give the flowers that you have to pull up to their goats? Definitely ask them first of course but since your compost bin is full might be a solution.
#teampomegranate I'm so glad you kept this tree, the fruit looks amazing! Is it safe for the chickens to eat the split ones? I'm hopeful that my little tree will produce soon. I had one fruit that dropped after I transplanted the tree this spring but I'm think now that it's established I'll get some fruit next season! Ooh, you answered my question right after I posted it!
All those pulled flowers are potentially great for that terrible soil. I’ve mentioned before that a chipper shredder machine sure would be put to good use on your yard. Beautiful tree for sure fingers crossed it thrives there :).
