It's amazing how this was invented and how much of an improvement it would make not only for Disney works, but just animation in general at the time. Still... I miss 2D animation over today's modern CGI animated films
I never liked this cartoon. The scene with that little bird in her nest going around on those gears and nearly getting squished every time made my heart ache. Would damn near get a heart attack every time they went under the gear. That poor little bird.
It’s a real shame Disney doesn’t focus on beauty anymore, I believe Disney could regain it’s reputation if spent less time being political and more time focusing artistic attention and meaning.
We used to watch Disney every evening at 6pm with dinner plates on our laps in the rec room downstairs... Probably the best family moments a childhood could ask for

Before there was Toy Story, before there was WALL-E, before there was Tangled, before there was Aladdin, before there was Beauty and the Beast, and before there was The Little Mermaid.
When they show the mill wheel trying to turn before the rope breaks ( 4:23 ) there is a cog in place (count them) to crush the bird’s nest but when it finally turns that cog has disappeared. Lucky for the birds!
