8:55 on the Tegel closure event I asked the controller whether they were allowing for a repositioning flight from Tegel to Berlin Brandenburg with one last low pass. I was fully prepared for them to deny because it was absolutely _packed_ and I would've been perfectly fine with it too. The controllers had already been up for much longer than the event was planned for with no signs of the traffic density decreasing or any of them going offline. But they allowed. Not only that, but after I asked they even allowed me to use a callsign that - admittedly - was a bit much. And so I performed a low pass using the callsign TXL4EVR and to this day this was the best moment I experienced on vatsim. Yeah the Gatwick midweek madness events were dope but for the controllers to allow my sillybuggers while barely having a moment to breathe-... mad respect and I am so grateful. Remembering that still gives me a really fuzzy feeling and a few tears. :3 I understand that this shown here is related to Air Berlin going out of business, but it brings the same feelings. And I did take heavy inspiration in my selection of a callsign from the last Air Berlin flight.
the real trolling with fsx and below would've been ctrl+c. because MS decided to continue support the dos cancel short cut.... and that _didn't_ call a prompt whether you were sure...
fun fact: while alt f4 on fs9 gave you a prompt to confirm your intentions to shut down the sim, ctrl+c didn't. dos command simply yeeted the process instantly
I flew into Juneau, AK once and there was a Delta 738 behind me who landed without clearance because he forgot to contact tower. Once he vacated the runway, he realized his mistake and contacted tower asking "did I just land without clearance? How long have you been on?" Tower replied with "44 minutes." Delta replied with "ok because vpilot didn't say you were online before I landed." Tower didn't like this and responded "that sounds like a skill issue."
