Elvis, just want to say thank you very much. I had my test earlier this morning, and it was this route! I had never been to Chippenham before, your video really helped me.
Your videos are incredibly valuable, and I want to express my deep gratitude for the hard work you put into creating them. Watching your video was instrumental in helping me pass my exam.
I live in Oxford and booked an appointment for 18/05/2025 because I couldn't find any appointments in Oxford. I've never been to this city in my life. I hope I can get an appointment sooner for my driving test.
Unusual to see no traffic on the car park only lane on Kemble Drive! Must have been early in the morning, but busy enough for the part time signals to be active. When the current Bruce Street r’bout was new a few years ago (when the old 4 roundabouts were replaced by the large one), around the half-roundabout, Kemble Drive westbound had priority, with the give way marks being the other way round compared with today. That was weird for traffic from Cheney Manor road to Rodbourne - like the No. 5 bus, but it was swapped over, which made more sense. There is some old footage on my channel that shows this, as it was in 2016 (you can even see nice clean road marks, as it was brand new then!). Around 49 seconds in. I think the original design was done on the basis that Kemble is a “B” road, whereas Rodbourne isn’t, being dedicated to local traffic. Incidentally, if going all the way round to get into Bruce Street, I’d be wary about anything in the lane you used still having their RH indicator on; I wouldn’t attempt to pass on the right then. Don’t like to be stuck in the blind spot of something that might change lane. In general, I usually avoid using either indicator once in a one route only lane, unless it actually helps someone else.
Great video! You covered almost everything, though it would have been interesting to see a demonstration of a controlled stop, as you were driving at speeds between 40-60 mph for about 70% of the time. In London, learners are SOMETIMES asked to perform an emergency stop at around 20 mph, since that's now the speed limit in many areas. Your observation skills, especially with mirror use, were excellent, and your commentary was on point. Keep up the good work sir. Kudos.
at 19.42 can u explain why u moved into the left lane even tho u started in the right, surely this would be a serious for changing lanes on a roundabout? 19:42
Hi Kyei, You’ve perfectly demonstrated pretty much everything about how to drive and pass the test, which is going to be so much helpful for the learners. Expecting more videos driving in chippenham. 🙏
Someone who had just passed did a naughty in front of me today. Off the Meads roundabout heading along Great Western Way to Barnfield. They were in front of me when suddenly the idiot stopped and indicated to carry on over to the Paddington Drive exit. Only it was full. This fool should have carried straight on to the Barnfield roundabout and double back.
This was the route i took my test . I got two minors , one i didnt see a pot hole because it was raining heavily and was under water , and the second was reverse bay parking in the teat centre car park . Took too many maneuvers
Your videos are the best. I like the way you have running comments so we know exactly what you're thinking. I have request. I really like the voice on your satnav. Can you tell me what make and model you use? Also wish me luck for my test next week!
I confess I have another motive for asking about your satnav. I realized as I was listening to your directions for navigating Bruce Street Bridge that the voice on the satnav was my wife's. We are both actors and voice-over artists previously based in Los Angeles. My wife recorded for Tomtom a few years ago. Amazing right! Can you tell me when you purchased your Tomtom. I'd like to buy one for my wife. Thanks Elvis@@elviskyei8285
Ooh that’s very interesting. I’m pleased to meet you. If the advice you need is for your test then all I can say is; be confident and believe in yourself. Keep thinking …. Mirrors ! Mirrors ! Mirrors !! Good luck !
You are taking the middle lane to go outlet Center from B&Q/ West Swindon. Why does that middle lane arrow says straight ahead and not straight & right if you can use it to turn right. According to the Highway Code it says to use the far right lane to turn right and u turn , unless road marking or signs says otherwise You should be using the right lane to go outlet not the middle lane.
It’s all about understanding the use of basic normal driving lane, overtaking lane and basic road markings general; and also knowing the meaning of the ‘X’s on the floor. Both lanes can go to Outlet Centre but the one I used is the safest option. Watch out for my videos on lane markings soon!! Thank you Sir!
You still haven’t answered my question. Why is the arrow on the lane that you are using is saying straight only and not straight and right. The X on the road is to direct the middle lane to go straight ahead , you are crossing over the X to go right. The middle lane with the arrow that says ahead only should stay on the left side of the X to go straight and vehicle using the right lane to go right should stay on the right side of the X. Number 1 reason to use the right lane to go right and not the left lane is because we need to follow the Highway Code (rule 186) Reason number 2: If there was 2 lanes to turn right then there would be 2 lanes to exit the roundabout LOGICALLY AND USING COMMON SENSE It doesn’t make sense for 2 lanes to merge on the roundabout which is very dangerous. Reason 3: since there’s only one lane to exit the roundabout to go towards outlet centre and Rodbourne, then there should be only one lane to turn right. Common sense!! Like any other roundabouts in Swindon and in the whole UK Reason 4:when traffic lights is Red and vehicles using middle lane to go right , they block vehicles who want to go straight towards North Star using the overtaking lane and they have to change lane as they are blocked Which is very dangerous.
