I think the single most important question you should ask from any religious person is "Why do you think our secular law should have any clauses to please the beliefs of your religion? Wouldn't it be enough that you declare your religious rules to apply to the members of your church (or other religious organization) only?"

Ambrose Bierce as an atheist spoke sincerely about how he would like to hear Christ’s wisdom applied to today’s problems ( American writer 1842-1914? ) I miss Hitchens’ insight and understand exactly what Bierce meant.

My grandma..is a hardcore Christian... yet I said why are we sinners. She says we're born that way... then I'm like, but them that means this isn't even our fault. Then she stopped... then she's like.. just read your Bible, grandson... like... it makes no sense...how u can be born a sinner... so that literally means God created u a sinner... creating you to harm your fellow man. I would love to hear his opinion on the present day happenings between Israel and Palestine. I like to think he wouldn't be surpised, like I'm not, that there isn't one media outlet or so called expert that will call it what it is and that is just another chapter in a never ending religious war that is now being fought on Americas secular soil.
Its a very rare person that is pretty much always the smartest guy in the room. Mindblowing how much arcane knowledge he could just recite at the drop of a hat. He literally knew the experts chosen subjects better than they did to the point he could embarrass them at will.
The problem with Hitchens was he was really well read AND well traveled. He was pretty much smarter than anyone he sat across from on myriad subjects not just the one at hand. If you listen to him enough you will be amazed at his memory of names and places and philosophies throughout history. I've never heard anyone as well rounded and well spoken as he. If he wanted to embarrass people he would dig down into THEIR subject of expertise and show them up. Great mind.
