Isn't it a shame that what is quoted in this episode of Star Trek TOS is totally ignored by so many U.S. Citizens these days. The U.S. Constitution is our birthright - almost to the point of a sacred covenant with God. And yet there are those who would deny that right to other citizens simply because they don't agree with their politics, their religion, or their lifestyle. Kirk's words still apply to this day, and I wish more people would take them to heart.
"We The People" words completely lost on the Democrats AND the Republicans. If We The People do not rise up and hold these words as sacred again they will be become a faded memory of our past.
Well you gotta hand it to 'em for actually doing a very "live" recording for television, but wow, the sound is atrocious - and that's coming from someone who is very accepting of lo-fi sounds. I love it, but still, there were so many other live recordings from that era that sound stellar. Although I appreciate any kind of archival, historical footage, inCLUDing the Raspberries, Joe Namath and BJK all in one clip!! Wow lol! And OMG that last part of the interview talking about them being single and staying at the Holiday hardy-har!!
To this day, I will never understand why the writers went with the Preamble to the Constitution. I think having Kirk quote the Declaration or the Gettysburg Address would have worked better for the point they’re trying to make.

It's July 4th, 2023. And we need Kirk to come back in time and explain the US Constitution to our corrupt government. Much of the population believe in it, but the guy who claims to be President, and those who are with him, are ignoring it and even trampling on it.
Shatner absolutely nailed this scene to the teeth. It’s that powerful and helped me remember what this country is supposed to represent. Our government has turned its back on the Constitution and what it represents, but it’s still alive in the hearts of We the People.
I love how they use space travel to explore alternate futures, this and the one with the bio weapon that infected the whole species that turns adults into savage monsters but doesn’t affect kids. So the kids are waiting to grow up into monsters.
OMG I'm glad I found this clip... it is the one I remember the best from when I used to watch the show (first run)... this.. in the complete history of television.. this scene is the very pinnacle of an actor 'chewing the furniture' - it does not get better than this. This is the exact reason I loved that show...Shatner being Shatner
This can never be deleted! It's reflective of a time when the people who created pop culture showed they were true patriots! Unlike this time when bad actors are mostly, unfortunately running Hollywood!
