My dog came from Hurricane Harvey. She was rescued by someone and was one of the dogs sent to Washington State for adoption. The humane society believed she was a stray, she didn’t know any commands when we first got her and had a hard time adjusting to living inside I think. She’s a pointer and blue heeler mix, she is the sweetest and most loving dog I’ve ever had. She is my soul dog and I love her more than life itself, she’s sleeping here right now in bed next to me. I searched for months online to see if she was anyone’s dog and they were missing her but I couldn’t find anything. God bless the beautiful humans who rescued her, all of the other animals and other people who needed help. I can’t say thank you enough, I’m so sorry to everyone who lost their loved ones and homes. I can’t imagine the devastation, god bless y’all and I hope you’re all doing better. Stay safe ❤️
It is devastating to lose your house and everything in it and when they want you to evacuate they promised to keep your pets safe and you’d get them back. They lied . I will never evacuate even though I’m in Galveston County.
My ancestors were the Choctaw people of America (southeastern United States). Having served in the US military for many years (many years ago - I’m now nearly 75) I now live in Deep East Texas and have been involved as an amateur musician (vocal/guitar/songwriter) for many decades and I love a wide variety of music genres - I just had to say that your beautiful Celtic music sinks deep in my soul! Work force never came back. TWIA dropped the ball for everyone! Prices went through the roof! Now that we have rebuilt, the local government has raised taxes to high that we can’t even afford to live in our home town anymore!!!! It is sad how this community has become after such a tragedy…
If Harvey had 6 more hours over water, it could've made a run at Cat 5. The way the eyewall had blown up with hot towers, it could've gone all the way.
You all are blind cuz fema n the military went n rounded up people that were trapped in their homes n put those innocent lives on barges n dumped the bodies in the middle of the ocean n those barges never came back n a man in Hawaii seen n heard screams coming from the shipping container the barge dumped in the ocean also one man had escaped from the barge n the feds went finding the man who escaped because the government didn't want him to tell what happened while being on the death barge n now they're doing it in the UK
i live in elcampo texas about 45 minutes from bay city i used to live in wharton texas we never thought it would be that serious at a weak cat 3 but the flooding was horrible wharton texas looked mostly underwater on the center area of town was not flooded. i live on the river and evacuated on the second day when the water was almost too high. we had to go to a church to take shelter in town all roads out were underwater. even with all that it wasnt until i saw the areal video of wharton that i cried. i just kept telling my family we were ok and we are strong but it was scarey. while we were at the church shelter though everyone came together and helped each other out and that was a wonderful feeling every time a new family traumatized came in we helped them settle in and made sure they had something warm to eat and drink. the only thing that was worse than harvey was 2021 winter smack down. Also media was crap with warnings and afterwards all they talked about was houston there were cities and towns south of houston that got destroyed and underwater but houston got the bulk of the help. all we could do was chip in and help each other.
This may be the best Hurricane Harvey documentary I have seen. I'm a meteorologist for a private company in Houston. Obviously we went through a lot here in Houston. But I often feel that the Coastal Bend region is often left out of Harvey conversations. I love the Coastal Bend focus in this documentary and I also appreciate the focus on the aftermath. The aftermath can often be worse than the storm itself. Great job on this!
It's great living here but I hate how much worse the traffic has gotten. It doesn't feel like a small town anymore its starting to feel like Madison/Rivergate.
This was the best documentary I’ve ever seen. So honest and heartfelt. It makes me want to move to Texas. No kidding. Such wonderful, resilient people. I feel like I’ve known them forever. God bless you strong people.

Amazing how it turned a fucking nightmare that left me trembling every time I left the house into a scary, scary time that I felt calm enough to handle. Cut the cord, whatever side of the political spectrum you're on (but also, don't rely on youtube "weather machines make hurricanes!!!" conspiracy vids as a supplement for your news--seek it out yourself on fact-checked websites. Don't just parrot shit because it's something you WANT to believe is or isn't true.)
