Coming from an older Synology (2018). As a SOHO user, I picked up a 2-bay on Amazon Prime Day to give it a whirl. Hardware is a nice upgrade from what Synology offers. Software of TOS5.1 is a bit lacking. I am not willing to beta test, but I will ask if Let's Encrypt certificate wizard might come to TOS6.x? It's not the end of the world if it doesn't but it would be a welcome offering. Also some better firewall options on the device to make sure RFC1918 management addresses do not get locked out if desired, allowing SSH/sftp with ssh key only (no passwords).
I'm liking this a lot. 100% reliable multi-disk enclosures are difficult to find, and this is running a 22TB WD Red Pro and 5 SSDs without a problem. All drives perform well within safe operating temperatures even with the fans disconnected.
Creating the cache does not require deleting data. If you use HDD and NVMe to build a storage pool, you will not be able to use NVMe for caching. You must delete the volume and storage pool first before you can use this NVMe for caching. The use of HDD and NVMe to create a storage pool together mostly occurs when the NAS is installed for the first time. If the user chooses Default installation, the system will automatically create a storage pool with HDD and NVMe. In this case, it doesn't matter if you delete the volume and storage pool. There is no data at this time.
Can't find any download links either. Also this is clearly AOMEI Backupper, so I don't know if it was licensed to them by AOMEI and if it if offers more functionality than the "free" version of AMOEI Backupper. Worked with AOMEI Backupper Technician before and it worked quite well for backing up and restoring drives and images, incl. resizing partitions when restoring to different sized drives.
@@terramaster5382 If this and other applications aren't bound to certain models like the D8 Hybrid, you might want to create a software download section for such tools. Right now you have to chose "TDAS" and then a model to access the download. The download sections for NAS devices do not list this software.

Owning one of those for my RU-vid videos has always been a dream! Currently shooting Apple ProRes 4K videos, but my hard drives are maxed out 🙈 Cheers from Toronto!
Looks nice, once some bugs are ironed out, I'll probably give it a try. I do like the layout of the desktop in TOS 5 more, but the enhancements in the actual features are nice
Pro tip: you don't have to unclip the fan cables, which is the hardest part btw. You can oriented it in such a way where it'll clear while you pull the outer shell off. Very easy.
How do you get to the existing stick of RAM? The screws that came mounted to the daughterboard seem to be overtorqued and damaged to the point that none of my PZ screwdrivers can grip it.
Thanks for the instructional video and the free RAM upgrade. I have an F4-423 that I purchased from Newegg in November 2023. Set it up with 4 12TB Seagate drives in a TRAID, wrote and posted a review to get a free 4 GB RAM upgrade. I received the promotional 4GB RAM 2 days after sending the required documentation, installed it this morning. Took maybe 10 minutes to install. Powered back up at 7:37. TNAS could not see my server until 7:57. I logged in and started trying to run PLEX. At 8:15 I got this message launching PLEX: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <Response code="503" title="Maintenance" status="Plex Media Server is currently running startup maintenance tasks."/> PLEX was finally able to access the NAS at 8:17. The upgrade was successful, but it would have been nice to know that it would take 20 minutes for the NAS to boot and another 15 minutes for PLEX to start up.
Does the device always have to be powered? even when it is not used and does not need to transfer data? Does plugging/unplugging the power cord damage the device? I ask because I would only use it as a backup in RAID 1 and the rest of the time it would be inside a closet... Thank you
