It's all about the music. I'm converting my vinyl collection to digital format. (Slowly.) The music covers a variety of genres.
My audio should be in HD (scroll up to 720p).

I want to thank with all my heart to the people who contributed with stories about this famous tune!! I only knew some of it! Truly amazing facts!! A fellow musician and friend of the family used this tune a lot teaching vocal music in public schools in Montevideo, Uruguay. I still remember the first line of his Spanish lyrics, "Estas perdiendo el tiempo, barbero loco..."

Is it in “Topsy-Turvy” or in “The Story of Gilbert and Sullivan” that Gilbert delivers the line to the chorus “consonants!”? Robert Morley , I think. The D’’Oyly Carte Company delivers.

My Mom told me that I was named after this song. She and my Dad loved the song so much that they named me after it. 😊 I only came to know about it a few years ago (about 2 years before my Mom died), so I immediately searched for a copy of the song. I found several versions but I loved the short version of Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. Thanks for posting this version. ❤

I REMEMBER VIVIDLY SINGING THIS AS THE "CLOSING" IN THE BALCONEY, STANDING BY A SLIGHTLY OPEN WINDOW (NO A/C BACK THEN!), AT THE OLD SEARS AND SUMMIT CHURCH OF CHRIST, DALLAS, BEFORE 1951! PRECIOUS AND POWERFUL! A PROUNDLY TOUCHING MEMEORY!

The learned judge was John Reed's first principal "patter" role with D'Oyly Carte, I believe. I saw him perform the part at the Bournemouth Pavilion whilst Peter Pratt was still the principal comic lead. I knew at once how much I preferred John Reed and looked forward to seeing him develop! Little did I know how long and illustrious career lay ahead. I got to see his Plazatoro and KoKo (at Oxford, I think) but the best memories are of Jack Point and King Gama at the Savoy with Malcolm Sargent in the pit. John Reed is still much missed.

The first time I heard this song was recently. An episode of American Top 40. It's so beautiful, and another example of how 1979 was one of the best years for music
