Mom and Dad covered their ears. But the kids didn't. Thanks a lot. 😅 Just kidding. Cool hike, Nate. I love that you share a lot of info about the history of the mountains you hike.

Just discovered your channel through a video Hiking With Jackie Boy channel shared. This looks like an epic hike! That was an interesting story about the other hiker not wanting to get his boots wet in the snow. Going to subscribe to your channel. I post hiking and outdoor content on my channel too.

Thank you for filming your trek up Corazon Hill--this brings back many, many memories as my father once purchased Corazon Ranch in the 1980's and I often visited the ranch on holidays. Climbing Corazon was sort of a right of passage for my friends who often visited with me to work cattle and explore the entire ranch. Did you find the USGS benchmark? It's there. I also recall an old, dilapidated 6' cross made of old barn wood that was erected with bailing wire and another odd wooden stand of some kind. I have many photos of the area, including Corazon Cemetary which is located SW of Corazon Hill above "The Canyon" which was also part of the ranch. Various ruins made of rock with dated cornerstones can be found about the area and were always a treat to stumble upon. Thanks again for this wonderful memory.
@OneMansOdyssey
@OneMansOdyssey 11 дней назад
@@CARTERFCLAY thank you for that story! I love to hear that a video like this reached someone like you who has a real connection to this place. I seem to remember finding the benchmark. I’d have to look through my photos and videos to be sure, but I’m pretty sure I did. I do remember seeing what looked like the remains of some kind of wooden support structure. I assumed it was the remains of a survey tripod. I don’t remember seeing a cross, and I probably would have filmed it had I seen it.

Wow! That was awesome! At first I was a little confused because I had no idea there was another Redondo Peak. Have you done a video of the other Redondo? I love these hiking videos.
@OneMansOdyssey
@OneMansOdyssey 21 день назад
@@colonypainting711 I have hiked Redondo Peak in the Jemez, but legally, you need to acquire a permit (impossible to get, I’ve heard) to hike it. The rules are constantly changing, and there is no public input or accountability, but the NPS has made it clear they don’t want you climbing the peak because it is considered sacred. I do have a beer review from several years ago (Walter’s Green Chile Beer) from the climb, but I did not include any clips above the 10,000’ mark.

The Pecos Wilderness is so dang beautiful, it'll bring a tear to a grown man's eye. Watching clouds roll over the crest @8:20 reminded me of those motion waterfall pictures in the 90s that everyone had. If you will make one of those with that view- I'll take one for my wall, please 😄

Congrats on your new 4Runner. A ding that happens while you are out on a adventure is a memory dent. I have several on my truck. The view from the summit was nice! A bit hazy but worth it regardless. I was eating lunch while watching this video and what i has was good, but no where near the food presentation you displayed. I have heard many great stories about the tumbleweed in Magdalena. Next time I am in the area I will have to drop by for a burger. Great video buddy.

Thank you, my friend, for sharing your experience . . . and introducing me to the Sabinosa. I'm thinking of packing it myself. As of now, July '24, the BLM describes approaching Sabinosa thusly: "From I-25 take exit 345 on to NM104 heading east. Travel 32.7 miles east to Trujillo, NM. Turn left on to San Miguel County Road C51A at Trujillo and travel east for approximately 7 miles on an improved dirt road. Follow BLM directional signs by turning left at the Y and heading north for 3 miles on the lightly maintained route to the Sabinoso Wilderness parking area. This road is not passable when wet. Please leave gates as you find them." Was this your approach, as near as you can tell? Maybe it's the ONLY approach. Meanwhile, I have a Subaru Forester. It looks like the vehicle that was parked next to yours. As you can see, the BLM describes the dirt road as "improved." Any reason why my Forester couldn't handle that dirt road, except perhaps if the road is mud? (Yes, my biggest concern: summer rains on a dirt road.) In any event, thank you again. Happy trails! Phil Davis, Albuquerque
@OneMansOdyssey
@OneMansOdyssey 2 месяца назад
That was my approach. You are right that that is basically the only approach. There is another access point that is not listed on the BLM website, but is official. However, you would have to call the BLM field office for info on that. I would recommend calling them anyway, since, as you know, we have gotten a ton of rain recently, and it's possible some roads are not in good shape. However, if this is not the case, you could easily drive this road in a Subaru Forester.

It’s been 4 years, so my memory is a little fuzzy, but I remember the main road (FR 87) being pretty good quality. The cutoff to the “trailhead” (FR 572) is definitely a high clearance road, as I recall.
