Hahahaha. Always remember some dark haired bird saying they were glad the blues had a point reduction and she hoped they got relegated. Hahahahaha to you, how times change. No quadruple and you have lost Flopp since then. How the times are changing, UTFT’s you angry little woman
If we do change to a 4-2-3-1 and Salah stays then he will play as the CF. Slot seems to like wingers that can isolate and beat his man which Mo just can't do now. It's not Nunez or Jota's game, Gakpo and Elliot dont have the speed, it only suits Diaz from our current front players. Doak needs more time. Szobo could maybe do the job but he hasn't really played that role yet for us. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mo, Gakpo or Darwin sold and replaced with a proper wide player. Bakayoko did an interview with the Athletic recently and openly spoke about his hate for having to do any defensive work and tracking back, that wont have gone unnoticed. Kudus would be ideal but too expensive i think. Mbeumo maybe, I'm not sure he's good enough though. Mitoma? Everyone has forgotten how good he is at beating defenders because of his injury. Raphinha? Barca might need to sell. Olise too expensive and injury prone. Gordon too expensive. I dont know who but if Slot sticks with his 4-2-3-1 I see 1 in and 1 out for the starting front players and a DM of hopefully Ederson or maybe Weiffer.
I have gone back and forth on Salah. On one hand, getting money for him now would be good. On the other, look at what Modric is still doing at 38. There is no one really who is a likely upgrade on him. At the end of the day, you want to do moneyball, but you still have to try to not sell players you cant get upgrades on.
Don't forget too, Klopp was on huge money as well, rumoured before Salah's most recent contract renewal to be the highest earner at Liverpool ahead of all the playing squad.
I'm glad Michael Edwards is back because he will never let Salah leave on a free. He knows how disastrous it would be for the club financially. Makes zero sense to me why Salah would rather run his contract down then either leave this summer or sign an extension. No one has put forth a convincing argument why we would do that, especially because you know his agent would want a huge agent fee for one last big money move somewhere. His agent could only get that with a transfer fee, not from a free transfer deal
I would love Kudus as a signing. Ready made, pacey, dogged and knows the prem. He's the perfect Salah replacement and I believe we could promise him the minutes given how comps were in and how experienced he is in multiple positions. He burst of energy and power would be mad whether its on the left, right or in the 10. Please make it happen
The board need to find out what Ali's plans are on his future. If he is adament on staying and retiring here then I'd let Kelleher go now. If he wants to last move then we should go all in on Kelleher and ask him to wait one more season
How is Trent a superstar player ? He’s not our best right back, he’s not a midfielder who can track players and get hold of the ball. He’s just a guy who can pass the ball….
All you fools playing Footie Manager when the PL has shown it is INCAPABLE of controlling the behavior of all it’s members Sorry, the PRODUCT lacks sporting integrity
A top quality 6 has to be main priority for me. Macca would be let off the leash and Endo wouldn't be run into the ground. We need a Slot type RW that tick all of his boxes even if it means letting go of one of the other forwards. Barring that everyone else stays I would like another CB for depth. I can see us getting a free signing or a veteran on the cheap. I don't think we should rip this tea apart unless certain players force a move. I'd rather loan out some youngsters and add 1 or 2 to this squad rather than selling for a bigger budget.
Sell/Leaving for free: Thiago, Matip, Kelleher, Diaz, Tsimikas, Morton (w/ buy back), Phillips, Adrian, Williams, den Berg & Koumas (both with buyback) Buy: Kudus, Gyokeres, Ait-Nouri, Colwill, Ederson, & Caprile (Jaros being 3rd option) 5 foreign players leave and 5 foreign players join. Gakpo and Nunez play LW and Kudus as 3rd option. Salah and Kudus at RW. Gyokeres and Jota at ST (Danns as 3rd option). Super unrealistic, but would be an insane window. I could see us bringing 2-3 at most in, though. However, we need 2 players per position fighting for a starting spot. Injuries always come into play as well, so depth with quality is needed
I wouldnt be suprised if we saw Mat Wieffer follow Slot to fill that DM role. He plays a very unique, attacking DM role and is in the right age (24) to fit into the core of the team.
Getting good value when selling a keeper is situational. It's not a rotational position. Someone with decent money needs to want a new number 1, unless your fella is happy being a backup somewhere else, which is clearly not the case with Kelleher. I reckon he's 70/30 to leave but, knowing us and how we respect our players, we'll take a hit on the transfer fee to make sure he gets the right move for him.. and I'm fine with that.
It reckon Bakoyoko is too young and inexperienced for an Edwards signing - as is Mbuemo (who's only ever passed 10 goals in a season once - in the Championship); Ederson meets the profile much more (24 years old and c. 200 career games).
The ederson gives flashbacks of Alisson at roma, when we played them in the CL in a challenging game and then went on to sign him the next summer, I can see that happening with Ederson
Number of overseas players in squad could have big impact on players we buy and sell. Last season we had 16 overseas players, next season Gravenberch's age means he will need to take an additional overseas player spot. So the only spots we have available are from players leaving. Thiago, Matip and Adrian leaving would give us three available spots. If Kelleher leaves I can see us signing an overseas player to replace him with a youth team keeper taking Adrian's spot.
Those players are looking to be the next academy products to earn spots in Arne Slot squad. Sepp Van Den Berg,Owen Beck,Tyler Morton,Fabio Carvalho,Dominic Corness,Melkamu Fraunedorf,Luke Chambers,Amara Nallo,Bobby Clark,James Mc Cornell, Lewis Koumas,Jayden Danns,Musialowski, and Harvey Blair
I would like us to be looking at Yoro from Lille, Eze from Palace, Robinson from Fulham, Chiesa at Juve, Olmo at RB Leipzig then maybe Rabiot and Zielinski are available on a free...
Does he fall on the right side to be Celtic? Although I dont imagine that's as much of a thing these days? I dont know... Sounds "romantic" but it would be good for him to get better European experience..
