Thanks! Make sure you use as much track as possible, so get right over to the curbs when entering and exiting a turn. Sometimes I find I'm trying so hard to go fast that once I relax a bit, I drive smoother and that makes my times faster.
Tough break in T4 there. How do you find the new karts? 39 sec laps sound like they’re a touch slower than the old karts. I vaguely recall hitting 37s on a good day.
The new karts feel more grippy and solid than the old ones. Not as easy to throw them around corners. My fastest time in the old karts was 36.68 and usually would be in the 37s on nice warm days. My fastest time in the new karts so far is 38.47.
I had the same kart as you on the previous race. It clearly has less straight line speed and are at a disadvantage. I got passed easily like yourself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-niZTivUHc1g.html
Did they explain what those two contacts were that you were penalized for? I don’t see much on this video besides you slightly turning in on the guy in the red suit at 2:50. Even still, that was way less consequential than when he bumped you out of the way in T5 of the previous lap.
I mean, I’m glad to see that Goodwood has started to enforce literally anything lol but this one doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. You definitely left the other kart enough room.
Yea so ur best lap is the lap that starts at 1:42. Its pretty good but here is my advice. if you see on that lap how into the corners you are catching up to the guy ahead, but out of the turn you are loosing time to him. the way you can fix this is you are entering the corner too early ( ie. you are hitting the apex to early). these karts have so little power that speed = how well you can keep the kart straight. if you slide it into entry and hit the apex early, you will lose time on the exit and the exit is much more important in these races. that is the main thing in the lap. for your average lap , T1, same sorta thing, you are leaving the white line on the right too early and hitting the apex a bit to early which can lose you a small bit of time on the run into T4. T4 is good, just a little to early but thats a decent line. T5 you just are entering the corner too early and sliding through and losing time in the run to T6, and you can also get closerr to the outside line on the run in. T6 too early, 4:45 was the best time, and just get a little bit closer to the entrance kerb. T7 and 8, 7 just hit all of that big kerb, 8, youre entering a bit too early and not letting the kart push out to that exit kerb. T9 is good. a simple way to get faster is to just put less steering input in. You are flicking the kart but it needs to be a gradual turn into the apex. If you try these things hopefully you can get that pole position.
Hey man, I raced CRKC last year and this year I'm racing 4 stroke karts in TRAK at Goodwood. If you want i can give you some line tips to help you get faster.
How are the new karts? I notice there are no more mychrons. How do you you get your laptimes now? All on an app or do they post times between sessions?
The new karts are great! They’re using an app called Race Monitor. It shows everyone’s best lap time for each practice session. For qualifying and the race it lists everyone’s name and kart number too. I think they said they will print out the qualifying times and post them on a board as well.
@@jamiehyde959 any idea if there's settings we need to input for the app? did my first race of the year and had no idea what my quali times were and didnt even realize they have an app for it now!
@@fadedsimplicity1 I don't think there's any specific settings. I just downloaded the Race Monitor app and was able to use it right away. You need to know your session and kart number during practice, but for qualifying and the race they will actually have your name on it.
This is called the Arrive & Drive Program. You sign up for the season at the beginning of the year. Here's their website with more info: goodwoodkartways.com/?page_id=191
@@jamiehyde959 I’m hearing that’s becoming a Goodwood thing. A certain endurance series had 20+ failures in their 2 hr race there. Hope you have better luck next time man
I do the club racing and when I saw you spin I was yelling in my head because you weren't pushing yourself out and I forgot you can't do that. I got disqualified for doing that in an arrive and drive race once lol.
@@jamiehyde959 yeah, it looked like you were just trying to finish at that point. Remember, the rain line is right around the very outside edge of T5 and 6 but that kart also seemed a little offended about turning right lol. Better luck next time man
I'm dumb. First time I went on turn 3 or 4 that ending of the fast two corners, I didn't know you didn't need to brake that hard and lost so much time. Well I guess I'm gaining seconds next time I go
Green track? 40-41 seems slow for you on the standard config. I know it rained earlier in the day though. How are the karts this year compared to last year?
It seemed like everyone was about 2-3 seconds slower than normal! There was only a bit of rain and the track stayed dry. I had 2 karts that felt pretty slow and this one for the race was much better.
@@jamiehyde959 Probably the karts then. I assumed they wouldn’t replace the beat to hell ones from last year and it’s starting to look like I was right. Had fun racing with you and Scott last year but I’ll be following your season here this time. Good luck!
