It's not just Boston...cities all over the US are losing or have lost independent stations and have seen the rise of duopolies with fewer news options and less imaginative programming options. Just as TV destroyed print journalism, the internet has destroyed local TV.
1 short but classic JAM jingle at the end. More than enough to make my day 😂 Hoping I can get KVST via Es someday, miss hearing that awesome K-Star (It's Your Country) jingle
This commercial gives me nostalgia, for the time, although I never even been to a Caldor. In fact, I didnt even learn about it until it was already out of business. I mean, like it was past the 2010s when I learned of it. We just didnt have one. We had Ames, Bradlees, Jamesway, Value City, Burlington Coat Factory. Stuff like that. But never a Caldor.
I grew up in northern NY on the border with VT, so I got see to both New York and New England Telephone commercials on TV, but NE Telephone had that catchy ad jingle.
Hi is there any chance you have the recording of the actual parade broadcast? We're looking to use it in a documentary and unfortunately WBZ doesn't have it in their archives.
This brings back memories that also almost brings tears as someone else in the comments mentioned. Mine are for 2 reasons, 1 nostalgia & 2nd I knew Cindy Goodeal who sang on many this jingle and other radio spots. She died pretty young, and the way she died and what she went through near the end of her life is very sad😢
I miss Service Merchandise! The atmosphere of the store, the lighting, layout, and how everything was displayed, the method of ordering on a computer module, then awaiting it in the pick up area just made it a cut above Target or Kmart, even Sears!
Dealership is still there with the same old retro signs and whatnot, It's funny to see! Nearly exactly the same years later EDIT: They just recently changed it, disappointed, but all things change in time
Three-way calling is now included with most smart phones, but who uses it, along with who is even bothering to call to arrange where to eat. Just text.
