Thats the winter route know as the swift trail which when you hit the open area you cross the chocolate falls then jump on the worm flows and quickly go above the tree line. cant mention enough times when you reach the summit dont cross the crack in the snow or you will be on the 30 foot cornice which breaks off. then we have to recover your body from inside the crater. search and rescue!

Thanks for the detailed trip report. Did you use mountaineering boots and crampons or just hiking shoes and spikes?
@nmvids
@nmvids 2 месяца назад
I used water resistant hiking boots with crampons. Some say you only need microspikes, but I would 100% reccomend crampons. Theres a pretty steep section that warrants the extra grip. Have a great trip, conditions overall are great!

Clark drew his sword..... He tells of it in the journals. People should be required to read the original journals. They are absolutely fascinating. Lewis is such a interesting person. The fact they took those many men on such an amazing and dangerous journey....and brought them all back, with the exception of Sgt Floyd, is unreal.

@redriver6541
@redriver6541 2 месяца назад
It would have happened no matter what. Clark was known to the natives as a friend.....but he couldn't change the hearts of men that were inevitably going west. We're humans....it's what we do. The natives weren't saints either... If they didn't like you or have a purpose for you... You would be in for some horrible events....your last.

The reason they all survived except for the one medical problem, was partially due to the fact that the Indians have not been violated by the white people to the extent they were 50 years later. Remember this was in 1806, by 1850 I'm sure native people didn't trust white people one bit.
