I just ordered the quick build kit as well. I appreciate you sharing this video. It gives me an idea of what to expect. It looks like a lot of the plane is complete. This sounds great and all. I am some what regretting that I ordered the quick build option. Not because of the expense, but because sooo much is already complete. I enjoy building things and half of my airplane / flying experience is around the actual assembly. I hope I enjoy flying it as much as I will enjoy putting it together
The Australian and the US QB kits are very different, Mike. Ours won’t have any of the empennage done, won’t have the ailerons or the flaps done, won’t have the fuel tank attached to the wings, and won’t have the fuselage up on the wheels. Also, we don’t get to keep the container for any amount of time - it stays on the back of the truck, we have a few hours to unload, and then the truck and container are gone!
I remember when kit-built aircraft started to become popular in the mid 1980's most of the people I met who were building these kits were in their mid-60s. And you're talking about a build-time commitment of several years. If you still want to build an aircraft, this is possibly the best time to build it! And this aircraft is possibly the best kit to build! You could be flying within twelve months of starting your kit with a builder assist program. (strongly suggested!)
Thanks for posting these. I'm hoping to build a High Wing with Errol in a couple of years. I haven't managed to get up to visit him yet, though we have talked about it a few times. Are there more videos to come from your visit?
@@Airborne4k Cheers mate. I do know the effort involved, and appreciate the work you put in. I suspected there were more to come given where this one ended, but unlike the first you didn't mention it, so I just thought I'd check. All the best with the build. Keen to stay in touch, but not sure how to share details since there is no private messaging on RU-vid.
I'm considering a TSi build as well but I was wondering if you might be able to help rate the difficulty in the build from a 1-10 scale? The instructions that you showed are maybe a bit of concern as to whether or not the instructions are clear. Any thoughts so far?
Hi, id say 8/10 they would be more but there are small discrepancies in the new and older versions. In my next video I build the ailerons and show the step by step from the manual is you want to see. It will be up soon
An absolute legend, Michael, who is building a sling TSI here in Western Australia, has left me visit last night and dimple them all! The sling community is awesome!
Hi Lil, thank you very much for the video. I'm thinking about buying an Elite Nero (I found it for 500€), but I'm undecided because I don't know if I'll end up mastering it or I'll give up and stop using it. What is your experience during all this time? I've seen people stand up and do sprints. How about that, do you think it's possible with practice? I will be attentive to the next videos you upload 😉
Hi @toplevelracing, thanks for your message! I use this regularly now 2-3 times per week and will use it more in winter. Yes it's possible to stand and sprint :) it gets easier every time and I enjoy it much much than the old fix trainer I used years ago. The best is I don't need to alter my bike!!
Awesome to see. This is going to be amazing. I fly one of the first TSIs off the production line at the factory. ZU LIP. An amazing aircraft. You will have many hours of great fun in this aircraft. Enjoy the ride!
I really would like to build one of these airplanes. I've watched many build from scratch videos on the Sling TSI. This will be the first series that I've seen from a quick build kit. Looking forward to this helping inform my thinking on which way I would go. First couple of questions: 1. How long from the point that you placed the order did it take for delivery? 2. When will the engine arrive?
It took 3 months and I've only just ordered my engine but that doesn't come from sling. It should be here in a week or two, it was in stock in Australia
Wow let me tell you my heart is full. I'm so happy you are making this video. I was thinking of going with the quick build kit but wasn't sure if it would be worth it but with what your showing I definitely will be please show you journey in building your plane I would love to follow.
Thank you for the message, I'm so happy I could help, I was looking for this information when I wanted to order but couldn't find what state a quick build arrived! I have just visited the sling dealer and flown a sling tsi for the first time and have SOO much more information and videos to make 😀 stay tuned for more, I just have to get home and edit them
Hello - would love it you could answer a dimensional question for me. What is the length of the fuselage from firewall to the tail as shown about 30 seconds into this video? Trying to determine if it can fit into my garage/workspace in that state. Thx!
Hi Mark, thx for the question, I'm just away for another week (about to fly a Sling TSI for the first time) but when I get home I will get this for you
Welcome to the Sling family! I'm over at FirstRivet if you haven't stumbled across me there. Best of luck in the journey! You're starting pretty much mid-build with the quick build kit. :D
Thanks for coming along! We have a heatwave going on here with 5 days at or above 40 degrees Celsius at the moment hot🥵 we will be visiting many more places in Western Australia in our little plane, would love you to join us
That's awesome! I'm going over to Brisbane to fly one for the first time in a week and that's got me super excited so I can only imagine how much more excited you must be
