My name is chris and this New channel is dedicated to fishing and all outdoor activities in Southern California I have been fishing for over 30 years and have been lucky enough to enjoy most of what California has to offer from fishing up in the eastern sierras to the coast of San Diego, I recently started surf fishing more lately and have been catching a variety of ocean fish, halibut, barred surfperch, corbina, white sea bass , hopefully I get more videos of a variety of what California and Ventura county has to offer ,hope you enjoy my adventures .
I caught one of these for my first time on a trip to San Diego. I had an ugly stick four piece as a travel rod, and it had sand in it. I had to walk backwards so I could actually get him in I also caught a 4 pound Croker and the exact same thing happened. He almost broke me off and rocks, but great video Dude.
Ohh man , yeah you catch a decent bean and croaker they can put up a good fight and to add your gear was messed up dude your adrenaline must have been in full gear , thanks for sharing
If I’m throwing a 4-5” swim bait I’ll use a 3/8 - 1/2 jig head for that bait if I’m going Carolina rig with the small grub baits like the 805 baits I’ll use a 3/4 oz egg sinker
Hey brother, newbie fisher here, I got some 805 baits after watching one of your videos , you mind breaking down your rig setup ? Rig , hook size weight used etc ? Thank you !
Sure man I have a 9’ medium fast rod with a 4000 series reel with 20lb braid I use a Carolina rig with a 3/4 oz weight and a 3ft 6lb fluorocarbon leader , I get my hooks from honey badger baits there ratel hooks #4 hook perfect for the 805 bait and any other bait similar I plan on doing a video of my setup and break down on how to set up a Carolina rig stay tuned bro and thanks for watching 😎🎣
Man, I had a terrible day yesterday south of the Harbor, all kinds of kelp snags, little bites but ended up skunking, arrgh. I had to watch this video to feel better today.
I use 2 rods one is a 9’3” phenix trifecta lite for C-rig, and a 10’7”okuma Hawaiian custom both rods can cast very far and have a nice back bone to reel in a decent fish from the surf I use 20lb braid on both and a 6-20 lb fluorocarbon leader depending on what I’m targeting
Great idea to go to different beaches. I normally stay at one beach and that is it. How long of a leader do you put on? Is your leader flouro or mono? does it matter?
You were in a great zone....our entire beach holds them here in hb. Just a matter of finding them.....clearly they didn't know more than you after you found your own zone. I hope to make it up to Ventura soon for some surfing and surf fishing 🎣🤙🏻
was out there on memorial day. throwing the fly. it was insane. caught it from the trough to the incoming. didn't really see any corbina, water was still a bit chilly and a little to washy. but the summer is just beginning!!!
I have 2 setups one is a phenix trifecta lite 903 which I use for perch fishing and smaller species fish and then I use a 10’7” okuma Hawaiian custom which I use for casting jerk baits and drop shots for bigger fish
Fishing is always good at Piru if you have a boat if not fish near the snack bar area by the launch ramp there’s underwater structure there that hold lots of fish
