MTV’s idea of metal in 1994 was utterly pathetic lol. No death or black or classic power metal was ever played on headbangers ball save for Cannibal Corpse and Death and that was about it. Pantera and Biohazard proto nu metal garbage was what got played though it’s better than rap and Taylor Swift clones being played 24/7 it still left much to be desired.
What are you talking about? I have a handful of VHS tapes recorded from Headbangers Ball full of death metal. Morbid Angel, Hypocrisy, At The Gates, Dismember, Entombed, Tiamat, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema, Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, Carcass, Bolt Thrower, Obituary, Deicide, Nocturnus, all the heavy hitters of the era. I don't know about power metal, never cared and black metal had simply no videos yet in '94.
@@leveliable Was it headbangers ball in Europe? Cuz in the US we never got Deicide or Nocturnus or Anathema videos certainly any black metal videos in 94’ period! lol. Of those bands you mentioned just Cannibal Corpse,Morbid Angel and Death and Obituary had videos. Power Metal in 94’ was all but dead outside of Germany. Iron Maiden was charging 25$ struggling to fill small clubs along with Metal Church and Vicious Rumors.
@@infernicide666 Yes, I'm from Europe and Headbangers Ball in '94 was flourishing with extreme metal back then. Death, thrash, doom, yes, they all were well represented among the more mainstream stuff. Again, in 1994 there were absolutely no black metal videos yet to show. I can only think the infamous Call Of The Wintermoon. Traditional metal was low then but it was no way the fault of Headbangers Ball. They played Maiden, Judas Priest, Motörhead many times.
@@leveliable Ah ok, that makes sense lol. It was wayyyyyy different here in the US. They would play alot of grunge/alternative videos with the occasional Cannibal Corpse video for staring through the eyes of the dead or Death The philosopher or obituary don’t care even seeing Pantera was kind of a rarity. That’s part of the reason why the show would be canceled the following year at least in the US.
