Interesting engine swap. Some issues I see is the L322 has a front diff that is bolted to the engine oil pan, so a custom pan fabrication is required to make a swap possible to fit a LS or other engine types to retain the 4WD function. The 5.0l engine in these vehicles is a ticking time bomb destine to fail a low miles regardless of how well you maintained it. I'm trying to repair a 2011 L322 5.0L S/C. 80K miles and the timing chains and guides are worn out. Injectors are leaking and high pressure fuel pumps are leaking gas into the oil pan. JLR parts are expensive beyond reason. The vehicle overall has an appealing look. Handling and ride are good. I just don't see it as a long term keeper.
Hey Sloob; i’m doing a similar swap; 5.3 ls/4l60e. I was wondering if it would be possible to talk to you regarding engine/transmission mounts (even purchase specs and drawings or even fab If you’re interested ) plus front shaft routing issues. Regards, Pierre (Montreal south shore)
im about to do a 5.3 ls swap with built motor and Magnuson supercharger in my 2016 range rover sport. bought it with a blown engine and had a couple 5.3 laying around.
This is the kind of random moment that you have when your on tour in another country that you remember more than what you came to see. If I can recommend anything to anyone planning a trip overseas, plan as little as possible, and let these things happen. Don’t go there to see it. Be there to experience it.
