I'm a Ugandan working in Dubai as a house maid. I'm sick and tired of working away from my kids. I want to get back home and put a mabbaati house of two rooms in my plot and hustle from home, other than waiting to raise a lot of money and put up a permanent house to stay. It's just that I'm a little nervous and worried, I don't know whether I'm planning right or wrong.
Hi Phionah, great to hear from you! I understand your situation. Wanting to be with your kids is a strong reason to want to go back to Uganda. Building a mabati house and hustling from home sounds like a practical step. Sometimes we wait too long for perfect conditions, which keeps us stuck. Just keep in mind that if your job in Dubai provides financial stability, you may want to balance that with your desire to be home, so you can also give your children the life you believe they deserve (I’m guessing that’s one reason you left Uganda 🤗). Trust your instincts, and I know you’ll make the right decision. Wishing you all the best ❤️
Thank you Melisa. It's an amazing experience to not worry about rent. Still, not everybody can do this because you might need to sacrifice a few of the comforts that come with apartments or rentals. I decided to show this to inspire a few people ☺️. Thank for for subbing! ❤️
Your home is nice and comfortable. It does not matter what people think. Once you are happy that's all that counts. You did a good job in my opinion.I like how you make the chairs. You are very creative.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and found the chairs creative. It means a lot to hear that the work we've put into our home is appreciated. You're absolutely right-what matters most is being happy with what you have. Thanks again for your support!🥰
Yes. We do it outside. We haven't figured a way to do it inside and still leave enough space for everything else. But I'm sure we'll have plumbing among our future projects.
Thank you, my friend! You're right, renovations are truly magical. It's been an exciting adventure transforming our space. Your support means a lot - glad you're enjoying this exciting journey with us!
Good morning from the USA. What you are doing is making a better life for you and your family. Living a life in the slums is no way to live, and you are showing people what can be done with a dream and vision. Your home will be nice when you finish. Owning your own home is a blessing.
Good morning too from Kenya and thank you for your kind words from the USA! Your encouragement means a lot. We're grateful for this opportunity to build a better life and hope our journey inspires others. Owning a home is indeed a blessing we don't take for granted.
the floor cracked because of the black cotton soil, it should have been removed and backfilled with murram, but that would have added more cost, btw if you dont mind, where is this place
True. We learned this the hard way. Fortunately, the floor is still good and the carpets are still relatively new. We live in Juja, Kenya. Where are you watching from?
Aah. I see you have experienced it😂. This soil is sticky like glue. But we spread murram on the compound when we were doing flooring and that solved a huge problem. .
There's nothing better than owning the place you and your family gets to live in, whether it's made of mabati, timber or stone!!! Good for you and all the best as you continue improving on it
Thank you! You're right, there's nothing like having a place to call our own. We're grateful for it and excited to keep improving our home bit by bit. Thank you for your support ❤️
In South Africa, it's called mkhukhu and people use ceiling boards then they paint those ceiling boards white. It looks so good. I think u should also paint ur house with white.
Thank you! I have learned a new word! Mkhukhu 😊. We definitely have the same thought because I plan to paint it white. I can't wait to see the transformation!
Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate it. About my wife, she is very hardworking, it's just that you can't tell from these videos as she doesn't feature a lot ☺
Yes. They came out great! I was surprised by how easy it was to make them! The counter has made our work so easy I can't believe we stayed for a few months without one! It was not easy😂
A New subscriber i love your job where are you located please if need be for a job just talk while editing your videos stop putting only backyard songs
Thank you for subscribing! I appreciate your support all the way from Juja! 🙏🏽😊. I'm sorry could you explain that last part? I don't think I understood what you mean. However, about editing, I'm working on it because I understand this is really basic. Sooo much room for improvement 😊Working on the background music as well so suggestions are most welcome 🤗
Thank you for your comment! Indeed, it's not cheap. However, the 15k includes the whole counter, the shelves, and the table. It's a lot of storage and the mdf boards are usually pricey (4k each). I also did it incrementally which made the build process affordable and less tasking. We figured it would have been difficult to find something that matched our needs too.
Thank you! It was a very good decision for us and the girls love it! About the gvt curriculum, the short answer is no. Kenya does not have a clear curriculum for homeschoolers. However, as a parent, you have a plethora of options you can choose from. I use the current CBC (because I do standardized testing), but I have removed and added a few things to accomodate for other curriculums, as well as my kids' interests.
@@sarahngugi2779for us they will seat for the exams at end of each key stage..if you want to homeschool just do lot's of research and look at what your kids need. That will guide you on the system to choose. There are so many of them. Just research.
@@elizamuriuki9442 Awesome! I have not really looked at the Cambridge system but I'll make sure to do that. Do you have materials you can send over through email so I can take a look?
