I've taken my Mitsubishi apart three times trying this O-ring and then sprayed carburetor cleaner and it's still bogging out has anyone succeeded if so maybe I'm doing something wrong I've lubricated the O-ring put it back together still leaking??????
@@owen_03montero yes on the right O-ring the plastic is not damaged not sure what's wrong I'm planning on trying again just to be sure I'm going back to harbor freight to pick up another O-ring set I will keep you posted thank you maybe
I think maybe I used to much grease I'm thinking the grease is causing the air through I'm going to take it apart one more time hoping that's the issue let you know what happens thank you
Okay I tried this O-ring then put everything together ran the Montero came back sprayed the aria again the engine started stalling so for some reason the O-ring isn't working on my Montero what do you think i did wrong?
Another thank you for this, Long term fuel trims dropped from 12.5 to zero. Of course I did spark plugs ans wires while I was in there and kinda wish I'd done valve cover gaskets, but car runs bbetter than it has in a long time.
Great video! Another very stupid design by engineers hating mechanics!! Remove x-member just to change filter??? Some just as bad pan designs don’t even include drain plugs!!!🙄
Cheers for the video, been having a leak for a while, swapped every vac hose lo and behold it was this. Will be swapping the o ring this week. Attempting the rocker cover seals this week for a roadworthiness check.
Owen,, great vid! Jimmi Dalton here...i left fb 3yrs ago, miss you guys from MMUSA! Still have both my 88' and 00' beach rigs. Say hi to the guys for me.
Nice video.I have a 2001 montero xls and have a question. I recently changed the power steering fluid with "Prestone Power Steering Fluid Plus Stop Leak". I also saw online that some owners use "Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid ". Do need to change the P/S fluid again or keep the one that I already used? Thanks.
Just took my 2003 in for a diagnostic for p0171. They told me it’s probably an intake manifold tuning valve. Does that seem reasonable or would you think that this o-ring might be the root of the issue?
Great video as always Owen. I'm about to change my Gen 2.5 trans mount this weekend. Since I am not changing the filter I thought I would support the transmission with a 2x4 and floor jack spreading the load across the pan. I can't really see in the video where you have the transmission supported with the jack while the mount is off. I'm looking in the FSM as well. . Where in the video is a good shot of the where the jack pad is supporting the transmission?
Hey @Owen Montero, how much better is having the rear locking diff for these sorts of trail rides? What is an ideal lift also? 2" lift? I love watching all the different years of trucks 🤘
You have a very rare, optioned Montero. The front bumper on your Montero (We had it on ours) Was a factory catalog Mitsubishi part that you could buy from Mitsubishi. Very rare to see them with the bumpers.
Owen what sealant did you use to mount the water pump? Also did you buy an OEM crank sensor or just one off Amazon/ebay? Any other sealants/rtv that you used? I'm gonna do mine in the next week or two. This video is so much help. Thanks! 🤙
Used a skin coat of gray rtv. Also for the crank sensor only get Oem the aftermarket are really bad. No other sealants used just gray rtv a very thin layer skinned
nice clean job , i just did similar here in Australia , i found these things a little difficult, i know straight forward , for me the job was a struggle, its all about the detail this job
Man I swear to god some people don’t know anything about the dimensions of there vehicles much less four wheeling. Nice rigs but come on man use the long pedal every now and then.
I just made a gasket where the camshaft thrust plug meets the head. I had trouble getting the o ring so I used a cereal box it works. Now for the driver side.
