Yes, I can imagine. It was very dissapointing. I go by the idea of never pre-ordering anything. I will create another video on Dragon's Dogma 2 improvements on Steam Deck tomorrow. This is part of a suggestion from a comment I got on my latest video on DD2.
@@BusyGamingAndHardware I'm a huge Dragon's Dogma fan, so I had my hopes high for this. Trust Crapcom to let me down though, should have known how they put so much effort into their crappy remakes these days and by that I mean no effort whatsoever. Oh good I'll come back to watch it, here's hoping it becomes playable.
It' GE-Proton-9.1 You can check the related video for this short ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hdpV6L1LkSk.htmlsi=uHw3l0ETNa9s3lWu for more info and a tutorial on it
It depends, because the game is not yet there the terms of performance: - in most situations it plays very well with 40+ fps - in others it drops in the lows 20 - there are also the crashes that may happen if you don't increase your pagefile to 8-16 GB or don't run it with Steam OS 3.6 All in all the game is good (very difficult and a bit hard to get into), but good. You should keep it if you think the above won't impact your enjoyment.
@@Kbfrmdaa Seeing as this is just an early access game for now, It will definitely change - so knowing the studio I think they will continue to fix things and improve performance.
I never played more than 1h into the game on the deck, as I am waiting for more patches to appear, but if it crashes I think it may be a memory issue. If you don't have cryoutilities then you could increase the pagefile size to more than 1 gb - that fixed for me 90% of the crashes in most games. ( a tutorial for that can be found in this video I've created for Returnal ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UbmFax7UCkg.htmlsi=lCCObdBsibA2Cxvg ) If that seems too dangerous or intrusive to do then you could also try to use proton experimental - maybe that helps. If it still crashes after changing the proton version you could disable completely FSR (including the one from your OS) then force the game to play in 800x500 (can be done in steam from the games properties tab - the ui of the game may break a bit, but it is still playable) or something like that. It will look ugly but it will increase the performance ( this was a suggestion from someone that played the whole game like that - I plan to do a video with this suggestion). Another suggestion from someone from steam was to close the game immediately after changing the skill - but probably if block by then Hope this helps you.
@@BusyGamingAndHardware its so damn good bro and u can choose whatever type of graphics u want, ultimate low, ultimate potato, toaster etc , it pretty much removes all the EXTRA BS shadows
I didn't try the online part. I suppose it will be a few frames lower than what it gets now. Not sure If I would recommend playing online without getting 60 fps in the offline mode.

It's an RPG / FPS game where you play as a mercenary for hire and complete missions. It is very similar to GTA but it is set in a dystopian future (Blade Runner style) - where people use technology to enhance themselves. There is also a tv series on Netflix (anime format) - has a very good rating. The game itself is quite amazing in my opinion - very immersive and it has a good story.
Thank you. It runs about 5-10% better in most places and no gain in others. I plan to do another video soon with some tweaks we can do to increase the performance more.
Thank you so much. Been waiting to buy this once its playable around 30FPS mark and people like you with regular updates are really doing god's work here. 🙏
Same bro I’ve been so eager to buy it cause I’ve been wanting to play it especially on deck. I have it on PS5 but I feel like I’d get into it more being able to play handheld.
@@Kbfrmdaa by the way if you have a good internet connection, you could stream it on steam deck from PS5 using chiaki4Deck. It is really smooth. I've tried it with some games and didn't have any issues.
@@Kbfrmdaa I understand, you could also play it in the same network and then the internet connection wouldn't matter. Only the speed of your router. Similar to the old nintendo wii u
Great video as always, the only way I've been able to play this game on Steam Deck is by disabling FSR entirely and just accepting the lowest settings possible, 50% resolution scale with interlaced rendering and no AA which looks absolutely terrible, I only left motion blur on. FSR on any level (I tried performance like you) seems to burden the CPU a bit and I feel that the burden is enough to make the game stutter a lot, especially in settlements but also in very dense forest areas. Without FSR I can get up to 5 fps more performance which is the difference between the game slowing down (below 15 fps) and running at full speed (anything above). I was able to get the true ending and I'm almost done with all of the achievements. P.S. I just noticed you're playing with textures on high, I have them on the lowest value and I run the game with the SteamDeck=0 %command% to make sure the settings don't reset every time I launch it.
Thank you, I appreciate. I have my Steam Deck overclocked while playing and I get around 10% more FPS than what's shown in the video. For Textures I've left them on default - I didn't see any improvements in that initial location with them on the lowest possible value, but in later parts of the game there may be. For post processing effects, pretty much the same. I will try your approach in the following days with disabling FSR completely (also the one from the deck) - you've made me curious. I may also create a comparison video on it. Thanks also for the launch command, will make sure to use it. I also want to start my playthrough soon. But I may remote play it from my PC. At the moment I am playing too many games at the same time (just finished Hellblade 2 which is very small).
Almost dead 😂, there are still a lot of games which have good FPS on this card. For example Ghost of Tsushima works quite well. Regarding Hellblade 2, the section from the clip is the worst you can expect from the game in terms of Performance - so in general it should be over 30 FPS in most cases.
If you want to quickly check I have 2 videos on it One for steam deck ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6VMGa_z4kBg.html And one for pc ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cVGDX6GQGPY.html These are 1.5 months old, so I will create a new one next week with better details for Steam Deck
I would still wait, they didn't fix the big issues they have with cpu bottlenecks (hopefully they will). And I've heard they are rendering more things than needed, that's why the game is soo expensive to run. I would wait to have at least FSR Frame Gen before buying it.
After loving Zero Dawn on my LCD Deck, I thought about getting FW on it as well. But since it was a PS Plus game a while back, and looking at various videos showcasing it not performing all that well....I think I'll just remote play it on Chiaki instead.
It is working and looking a bit better now than at launch, especially with XeSS. In theory you can get an almost constant 30 FPS. But if you already have it free on PS5 and you don't mind playing it remotely then go for it. I can attest that it works great on Chiaki, I've checked it a while ago and everything is almost as smooth as playing it natively.
Very nice. Been following your video. These showcase will help Deck fans a lot. Thank you. Also………..DD2 got a new update 😅. I hope you have time to test it :,3
Thank you, I will check it tonight and if there are differences in performance I will create a comparison video on it. I will reply with the results in this chat either way.
I have tested DD2 For more than 20 minutes and compared it with my previous recordings and there are very very small improvements in some areas, but not where it is important (so maybe these small improvements are cause by steam os updates). Unfortunately nothing major is fixed - the fps still drops heavily when many characters are on screen. So this patch seems mostly to add dlss3 framegen and fix bugs unrelated to performance.
@@minhha8981 no problem. I will post a video with it today either way as I already spent some time in it. This contains extra cutscenes. It may take a while as the processing seems quite slow.
It's actually quite playable in my opinion. The low fps in some areas will not decrease the enjoyment too much as the game is quite slow (I finished it last year). If you also increase the pagefile to 16 gb or use 8gb of zram then it should be even better. (This will be done automatically in newer steam OS versions) The video you see here is with the default settings for the steam deck and also recorded with Decky Recorder so that may also add a penalty of up to 5%. I will create a new video on this game soon to re-check it, with increased pagefile, recorded with a capture card and also compare it with an overclocked version.
Good question. Everything seems more detailed and there is a bloom effect that is quite pronounced. Unfortunately it's not as smooth as before. Before this patch it stayed at mostly 90 fps on Steam Deck OLED - now not so much.

Wow they tweet about this patch how big it is, so much testing, they need to delay it cause of the size and test it yatiyatayata and in the end there is not much of an improvements not only on Steam decks, only fanatics on forum see SOME improvements.
Yes, I also expected way better. I saw small (barely noticeable) changes in lighting and animation during cutscenes - so maybe that's why the performance seems worse. I personally didn't get any crash with this patch (compared to the previous one), but maybe I am just lucky. Still, I had to double check I didn't do something wrong when I did the side-by-side comparison :), because everything seemed a bit worse.
Yes, I expected way more after seeing the patch notes. It seems a bit more stable for me (didn't crash in 2 h), but I can't guarantee it wasn't just luck
A bit, They actually improved the lighting and animation, it is clearily visible (relatively :)) in cutscenes. Another thing that seems improved, at least for me was the stability of the game. Didn't crash once in 2 hours. For me at least seems more responsive even though in some scenes it has 1,2 frames less.
I actually have a video that tests exactly these usecases. Undervolted and overcloked is a bit better but not by much - this is still with 15w tdp. I didn't try to increase the tdp. You can check the video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BRl2d7nKBJo.htmlsi=r8vSG5nSdVQUb7DY It's a side-by-side comparison for normal, undervolted and overclocked and undervolted.
XeSS has different presets from FSR. So XeSS Quality would be more inline with FSR Balanced in terms of resolution. (Rendered res is 1.7 engine res) So performance wise they should be pretty similar, however XeSS 1.3 looks way better than FSR 3 at the moment. Let's see what happens when FSR 3.1 is launched. That's why I tend to use XeSS lately on Steam Deck
@@socinety not from what I could see, but maybe with some mods it will be possible on steam deck. Frame generation in this kind of game would be really good. The game is quite slow and doesn't require any precision input. Either way In my opinion the game is quite playable on the Deck even though it drops below 30 in many situations - if this would have been an FPS then I would have said unplayable.
I don't have yet an asus rog ally z1, but it should work just fine. Please check this video from someone else ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4MwcVs6exlc.htmlsi=xtzVZ46MyaySgnmm It seems the performance is quite ok What you can do to rule out any issue with the system / installation 1. Make sure the game files are not corrupt. You can verify the game installation in steam - or install it completely from scratch 2. Make sure to have the latest drivers installed. 3. Make sure you have it installed on the ssd - if it's on the sdcard it may be too slow for the game 4. If it still works bad then try to run it with 25w tdp 5. If that doesn't fix it then go with a resolution of 1280x800 or 1280x720 and XeSS balanced - low preset. In theory asus rog ally should be more than powerful for this game, and you should be able to run it on Medium Settings just fine. In a few weeks when the new rog ally version appears I will buy one and test it. Please let me know if I can hel with something else
@@agustianindra7830 are your temperatures ok? I suppose they should not be over 75-80° C A crash like that could mean temperatures are too big or maybe Vram is not enough? If Vram + ram exceed 16 GB you may encounter slowdowns. Are there other games that are slowing down conpared with what is presented in videos on youtube?
@@agustianindra7830 that temperature is really good. Is this the only game where you have issues like this? On you handheld it should work just fine. Did you try it with the handheld set to maximum tdp?
BTW if you use a command to run the games exe file usly you can have better options. For example I had access to fsr settings. In lords of the fallen or direct x version for bg3.
Thank you will investigate more and do other videos on this game. I am pretty sure we can improve the performance with some small hacks. This video you see here is my first interaction with the game.
I think it's playable, It's not a very fast game and doesn't require fast reflexes so 25-30 FPS for this game seems playable. But I think that in other areas it will work better. This opening section seems quite taxing with so many rain effects. Maybe future patches will also make it better, who knows.
It's a different technique. I've never personally tested with zram partition. But I suppose it should work better in most cases. As changing the pageFile seemed easier and safer (at least I think), I went with that. I didn't encounter any issues, just less steam deck hard-blocks. I think the new steam os version will use it. I will check it soon. Thank you
So when I play ghost and some other games on my steam deck.I noticed a blurry pixelated outline around my character.Lynn and mocean, is this normal or is it a setting?I can fix Thanks in great vid by the way
Thank you, I can't say with certainty without seeing a picture, but you can try some of the following - if you are using FSR in Ghost of Tsushima try to change it to XeSS quality. Make sure the resolution is 1280 - if the resolution is less than 1280, maybe the embedded FSR filter from steam deck is enabled. That has a sharpness filter - maybe you can try to change that value - make sure the settings from your steam deck performance tab are set to default - see half rate shading - make sure the temps are under 80° C if possible - in Horizon Zero Dawn - the blurry pixelated image was caused by montion blur. So you can also try to reduce that one when enabling upscalers
I think that the difference in performance between the two versions of Steam Deck is insignificant, so if you want to play this game you can go with either versions. You should be prepared for some stutters as shown in the video - the game can't keep 30 FPS at all time.
Good question. It seems the game doesn't require a lot of CPU power so I would say if the IGPU is similar then probably the performance will also be similar.
I believe that, but I think the temps will pass 80 degrees and the battery will decrease quite a lot. But as a simple test, I think it would be enjoyable :D hope it doesn't brick
@@BusyGamingAndHardware it's not that bad. Run the fans full blast if ya want. The worst that happens is the the unit shuts off until the soc recovers temperature. You don't have to go as hard as that, but I have on the lcd and my new oled. The battery does suffer a bit, so wall power is a good idea. Also, the Oled now, has much better board cooling, and Charging IC cooling. So that should all be reasonably cooler this time around.
Yes, after the last patch it does. It is quite smooth and if you choose the details correctly you won't feel any latency. However, when FrameGen was introduced in TLOU it was unusable, so I am very glad they've fixed it.
