Car and Driving started over 40 years ago writing vehicle reviews for newspapers. Then 10 years ago we started creating video reviews and we are proud to now have over 1.8K video reviews in our library.
We help automotive companies of all shapes and sizes by providing a library of videos, images and written articles/reviews for use on websites and social media platforms.
Had one a few years, solid quality build, great fuel mileage and lucky passengers love it. Only problem ... JLR dealerships are ... perhaps reflective of the state of the company. Most staff don't understand what a 'luxury' brand means ....
Wow! Bravo Peugeot. I absolutely love the new 3008! It’s a car that truly stands out with its alluring design and spaceship-like interior. Far more exciting than boring German makes!
You sum it up well. Probably the most non-pretentious brand in the segment. Perfect amount of power for it's use but not a drop more with good levels of refinement and safety tech. RRP was unrealistic but you can get almost 20% off the HEV now with 5 years servicing which makes this a real compelling option.
I've just changed my W12 to a diesel. The W12 managed 27mpg, (not bad for its size). The diesel has done 45mpg on a motorway run! The engine is as smooth as the W12, torque is identical and no cabin noise. I'll be using it to go back and forth to Italy and am over the moon with it.
You made an error, you said that the speakers pump fake engine noise, not true on the LC, it's all real engine noise from a sound tube for induction noise and the tuned exhaust with active valves.
Honda CRV is a progressive choice chosen by the segment for whom performance and driving comfort are important, as well as the interior and exterior of the car. Toyota is the choice for those who are not interested in the interior and exterior of the car and only prioritize moving from point A to point B. The quality of construction is real garbage in Toyota, everything is done indifferently. And it is chosen by the category of those who only call reliability, because they do not properly understand technology.. (Honda is actually a company that produces the best engines in the world).
A very thorough review, covering a lot of (perhaps) minor (but non-the-less important to some) points often not covered in a typical YT review. I'm a pensioner an I currently have a Toyota C-HR which has the brands planetary gear CVT sytem. I have been amazed at the smoothness and efficiency of it's operation, so the LBX installation must be even better. This review mentions to the effect that Lexus didn't try to create a 'made down to a price' build. They certainly managed that (!) but (as an example) not including a 'through' hatch in the rear seat was penny (yen 😂) pinching ! One slight critique if I may : I'm a pensioner who likes the concept of this car (based on my C-HR experience) and a majority of my driving is on urban roads. As is often the case with YT reviews ... most of the 'on-the-move' ride assessment was (apart from emerging from junctions) scuttling along country lanes (I ride a motocycle as well so do enjoy that). I've seen other reviews which refer to the slightly 'fidgety' nature of the LBX's slower speed ride . Apologies if I missed a reference to that inherent nature of the car here, but, with the poor state of the UK's modern roads, that could potentionally be a deal-breaker from my perspective ! I don't have knowledge of a 'typical' Lexus driver's style in my mind (unlike the strereotypical view of Audi drivers !) but I'm guessing the typical LBX purchaser would not likely be a regular lane-racer (although good to know the car's capabiliies, for sure).
Why is it not even hinted that the Swift is just about the only car in this class that is also available as a 4x4? That alone makes this one of the best superminis for winter or otherwise rougher and more rural conditions.
Great styling inside and out, problematic engines and Ludicrously hard ride, particularly from back - never stops surprising u just how violent the thumps over potholes can be.. Would consider smaller wheels with more sensible profiled, narrower tyres - Tyre specs are more fashion than purpose - more aggressive than my Griffith!!
I have a 2015 model that creaks rattles and knocks. Still getting repairs so has really cost me lately. Not for todays pot hole covered roads. Maybe buy an off roader or ww2 tank
I was really looking forward to get one of these but I ended up buying a 2020 Mk4 instead because to my surprise this facelift variant does not come in TDI and manual. The only manual options are the small 1litre petrol Ecoboom engines.
Disagree with comment at 2.20min. So much is different from M240i. The bonnet roof and Boot are the same but apart from that.the rest of the body is different. So is the engine, suspension, gearbox, wheels, rotors, bracing, diff ...
One of the best ever Discovery presentations. Thank you to the team and the speaker behind this short film, its greatly appreciated by the disco owners, ever!
Great review! But this car is unfortunately almost undrivable at night due to the large eyes blinding screen built on the dash. It should have been designed to turn off when driving at night, except you want to reverse to use the screen for the back camera.
