One of my biggest fear is every time before i go to bed, I always look at he window thinking that someone would stand there... And this shows what it looks like to not trust strangers and also being stalked
Also I noticed the kipsneeds eyes are completely black, like how plushie eyes are usually just black beads instead of the full animated eyes we saw the kipsneed have in the animated segments
Not sure if anyone’s touched on it yet, but interesting that “kipsneed” is an anagram of “skin deep.” May be several interpretations as to why that’s used. Possibly that the disguise and the predator’s intentions are thinly veiled (only skin deep) by the cutesy costume/persona but nonetheless a cool tidbit of the film.
A lot of people point out that side eye at 3:18 as if that's when Cipsneed finally realizes how he can lure him. To me that tells me he genuinely didnt know the camera was why he couldn't sleep. He only ever saw it on his bedside table because he only stalks him at night when the parents are asleep and doesn't watch him at all during the day. Or maybe only watches him sometimes during the day just to get an idea of where he lived but missed the day he broke the camera. Once he knew where the boy lived it was nighttime only stalking.
So is this man/group of people capable of creating a fairy convincing enough to fool a child seeing it in person, or do they just know a fairy and use it to snatch children? And the fairy is fine with it?
The water mark “little toe” disappearing right after Caleb enters the house gives me the chills, a little detail that explains how much is going to change form that point on, innocence gone, no return, and no watermark means someone will steal your work…someone will TAKE IT AWAY from you…funny…
5:42 A detail about this shot that I'm not sure if a lot of people notice is that if you look very very closely, the Cipsneed has strings attached to it's body and fingers holding it up. It could be that the methods of controlling the Cipsneed were not detailed or shown when it was in the perspective of the stop motion cartoon, or from Cailen's child perspective, but seeing the real life photograph of the abandoned house and the Cipsneed obviously being fake just makes the approaching climax all the more eerie.
The photograph of the French Bulldog early on establishes that we can see realistic images within this clay world, which allows for the satisfying but still jarring reveal at the end.
No one will probably see this comment but the final shot of the man approaching him scared me so much i was afraid to walk in the dark when throwing when i was a kid
