Sharing the gospel is more important than sharing Jesus. Jesus says so. Mk. 1:14-15,gospel. Mt. 24:14, gospel. Thy kingdom come is the gospel. Sharing Jesus is secondary. Acts 28:31.
Very well presented. Accurately and simply (and heartfeltedly if that's a word) sharing the gospel. I'm not sure about the final bit claiming that they are a Christian (saved) by repeating the 'sinner's' prayer. I mean I'm not sure about that. I think they need to be exhorted to be baptised, and if they're not willing to be baptised, then I would not be so bold as pronouncing anything about their spiritual condition. But certainly a great way to simply share the gospel. But I would hold off (for now) on pronouncing them 'saved'. We need to get back to Christ's commands in Matthew etc. Preach the gospel, exhorting people to repent (turn away from) their sins and be baptised (ASAP) and teaching them (discipling) to continue in faith obeying all of Christ's commands. But please don't read this as any sort of criticism. It was brilliant. I'm just not sure about the ending. This is not about quick fixes.
I think the best part of the sermon was the last point that we are to serve Christ out of our thankfulness for what he has done for us. The spiritual leaders of the day were still hung up with the law before Christ. In Paul’s list of great things in his life he is describing his life before Christ - when he was in the same condition of the Pharisees who were accusing him. That was the list he was condemning- the effort of earning salvation. This list has nothing to do with his life after he was saved. Now his goal is to make every effort to know Christ and the power of his resurrection. I see no problem with personal tracking as a believer, for the purpose of growing to be more like Him. On the contrary there can be great advantage - it can help us not to backslide.
I am very thankful for this church but; I have disagreements with church teachings and would like to talk to a pastor who could show me where I am wrong!
your misrepresentation of the Word doesn't mean your understanding is accurate to Gods intention. Rely not on your own understanding. Jesus Christ be Praised and let him pluck the logs from our eyes so that we may not be deceived and deny Jesus is the last days before his coming. It is indeed biblical don't take my word for it. only yourself can ask and receive the revelations of God thru the Holy Spirit. Not from our own understanding. That in itself is the original deception. That we know better than God and can become to know "like God." We are made in his divine image but that doesn't mean we can be exalted above or equal to in any way. the serpent will not deceive me. Ahmen.
I love this story because after reading this again two some months ago I realized Nebuchadnezzar was wondering if his kingdom would last forever and God answered him with that dream.
Great. But what about the Law of first mention? Acts 2:38...how are people supposed to grow without burying the old man and getting filled with the Holy Spirit?
The gospel is the gospel of the kingdom! Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! The Messiah died for his people! God resurrected the Messiah! The Messiah will resurrect his people at his coming! The destiny of the Messiah and his people is to be ON THE EARTH! The renewed restored earth! God also dwelling with them! Rev 21 Matt 24 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Jesus said the Father is the only true God! John 17 3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
Amen!! Mark 1:15, 16 also tells us that the kingdom came with Jesus, and was evidenced through the good works he and his followers did (and still do to this day) in preaching the kingdom and in deliverance, healing and raising the dead, to mention a few things.

My point was that In Jesus' 1st coming, he introduced the Kingdom, and in a sense, 'passed the baton' onto the church - to continue his purpose, i.e. his prayer 'thy kingdom come/thy will be done. But I agree with you that its fullness will only come in his 2nd coming. All the best!
